00:00I'm at the Etihad where this afternoon Manchester City picked up where they
00:03left off at home with a 4-1 win against Ipswich Town. Of course the first match
00:08back here at home this season and City played pretty well you have to say
00:12although they certainly did get a helping hand from Ipswich who gifted the
00:16champions three goals inside the first 16 minutes. I think that'll be a lesson
00:20for them not that it's probably something they needed to be told
00:23beforehand that City don't need a huge amount of help when it comes to winning
00:26games here at the Etihad but they started pretty well Ipswich they
00:30actually only had one shot on target actually had only one shot throughout
00:33the entire game and managed to score it after the seventh minute. Sammy Smodic
00:36fastened onto a ball in behind the City defence and he slotted through the
00:40legs of Ederson to give Ipswich a really surprise early lead but it only
00:44lasted a couple of minutes because Savino won a penalty, Erling Haaland
00:47converted and another good display from him he scored a hat-trick got one soon
00:51after when Kevin De Bruyne played a long ball in behind he got a hat-trick
00:56went around Muric and centre and placed the ball into the back of the net but in
01:02between that Kevin De Bruyne had put City 2-1 up Muric who really did have a
01:06nightmare for Ipswich in the away goal he came out and was tackled by Savino
01:11the ball rolled nicely for Kevin De Bruyne to just slot into the back of the
01:17net in what was a really action-packed first 16 minutes it did quiet down a
01:21little bit after that Kevin De Bruyne hit the bar Rico Lewis also hit the bar
01:24thought both of them were absolutely fantastic here today for City as was
01:27Savino on the right wing cutting inside in his left foot he really does look
01:32like a signing for City looks like he is really gonna add to their attacking
01:35options they've got so many players who can play in those wide areas but his I
01:38thought he was really silky drifting inside linked well with City players
01:41produced a number of really incisive dribbles and really helped City
01:45maintain control over this game but once City went 3-1 up there wasn't a
01:49huge amount really to say to be honest after that City just dominated possession
01:52Ipswich couldn't get out as I say they only have one shot all afternoon City
01:56had 77% of the ball kept it passing about and kept Ipswich hemmed in really
02:02if I'm honest and there was only a couple of chances in the second half
02:05Haaland saw a good header saved by Muric and then he did add his hat-trick goal
02:09right in the 90th minute I think it was when he turned under a ball from Rico
02:13Lewis and shot instinctively into the bottom corner I thought Haaland was really
02:17good again today a couple of standout performances but he was certainly up
02:20there amongst them as unsurprisingly when you score a hat-trick and the only
02:23other real talking point from today was that Mateo Kovacic came off in the
02:29second half he seemed to pick up a knock and we'll obviously have to see what Pep
02:32Guardiola says in that I say there was no other talking point I've actually
02:34probably left the biggest talking point of all which was of course Ilkay
02:37Gundogan making his return to Manchester City he started on the bench here today
02:40came on in the 71st minute probably got a bigger cheer to be honest than all of
02:44the goals this afternoon a real fan favorite here unsurprisingly given his
02:47contributions and during his first stint at the club but he came back came on for
02:51the last 20 minutes didn't have a huge amount to do but the game was done by
02:53then City will be absolutely delighted to have him back in the squad here today
02:56he'll be absolutely delighted to get going with a 4-1 win at home and make
03:00it two wins from two in the Premier League an impressive performance but as
03:03I say they'd have a huge helping hand from Ipswich
