00:00Hi kids! Today we will learn different characteristics of animals. So let's start!
00:09First of all, we will learn which animals are called predators.
00:16Those animals that kills another animal for food and eat the flesh of other animals are called predators.
00:26Example.
00:28Lion kills deers, zebras, foxes, rhino, monkeys for its food.
00:38Snakes kills rats and other small animals for its food.
00:45Eagles eat fish or some dead animals as its food.
00:52Birds eat small insects as their food.
00:57Such animals are called predators.
01:02Those animals that are killed by other animals for food are called preys.
01:10Example.
01:12Coats, pig, deer, zebra are killed by lion, tiger, fox for their food.
01:22So they are preys of these animals.
01:26Predators have features like big jaws or sharp teeth and speed to catch the prey and tear the flesh of prey and hold them still.
01:39Now let's see some prey-predator relationships.
01:44Some examples of predator-prey relationships are
01:49Lions and buffalos as lions eat buffalos.
01:54Tiger and deer as tiger eats deers.
01:59Snake and frog as snakes eat frogs.
02:04Python and rabbit as python eats rabbit.
02:09Bear and fish.
02:12Cheetah and gazelle.
02:14Wolves and rabbits.
02:17Frogs and insects.
02:20Now let's learn some other terms.
02:24Like herbivores, carnivores and omnivores animals.
02:31All the animals including humans need food for energy.
02:36And different animals eat different food.
02:40Like cows and lions do not eat the same food.
02:46We classified animals on the basis of what they eat.
02:52Carnivores, herbivores or omnivores.
02:58All the animals that eat only plants, the leaves, stems, fruits, flowers or roots of the plants are called herbivore animals.
03:12Like cow, buffalo, ox, horse, goat, deer, zebra, elephant, kangaroo, rabbit, panda, rhinoceros, koala, parrot and tortoise.
03:28All these animals eat only plants as their food.
03:33So these are herbivores.
03:37Herbivores have specially designed teeth for their diet of plants.
03:43Most herbivores have mouth full of flat and round teeth.
03:48That helps them to chew or grind the plant material into smaller pieces.
03:54So that it's easy to digest.
03:58Herbivores mostly do not have sharp or pointed teeth.
04:06All animals that eat only flesh of other animals are called carnivores.
04:13Cheetah, crocodile, dolphin, eagle, fox, hawk, hyena and lion eat only flesh of other animals.
04:27So these are carnivores.
04:31Teeth of carnivores are long and pointed for tearing the flesh of other animals.
04:39Flesh eating animals have speed, sharp teeth and claws that are meant to hunt, kill and rend tough flesh.
04:52Now let's see what are omnivores.
04:57All the animals that eat both plants as well as flesh of other animals are called omnivores.
05:07Now let's see some examples of omnivores.
05:11First example are humans.
05:15That is non-vegetarian people eat both vegetarian food, that is the food from plants and meat.
05:25So non-vegetarian people are omnivores.
05:30Now let's see some examples of omnivorous animals.
05:34Bears eat both berries and fish, so they are omnivores.
05:40Rats eat everything from grains to meat.
05:45That is they just eat almost everything, so they are omnivores.
05:52Omnivores have teeth which are very similar to carnivores.
05:59Chimpanzee, crow, magpie, mice, raccoon, raven and rats are omnivores.
06:10So kids, today we learned what are predators, what are preys and we clarified animals on the basis of what they eat.
06:22That is herbivores, carnivores and omnivores.
06:27Now you may go ahead and take a quiz to learn more.
06:31Bye-bye.
