  • last month
The Cowboys added yet another player to their defensive line yesterday in DT Linval Joseph, a player they were rumored to be interested in for a few weeks. Shan & RJ discuss the new big body in the trenches as well as go over yesterday's Cowboys practice in Oxnard, their final one before heading back to Texas. Is Tyler Guyton okay after an injury scare?

00:00Yet another Dallas Cowboys late signing.
00:19They add someone that Mike Zimmer knows pretty well, the big man, Linvall Joseph up front
00:26as another defensive tackle.
00:27Yeah, they are signing just about everybody but their own, which has long been their position
00:34was we sign our own.
00:35We take it.
00:36That's what we do.
00:38Not so much.
00:39Now they have.
00:40This is the I think the 10th player that they've added in the month of August.
00:44What did you see?
00:45Set the over under with brought us in Nick Harris at two and a half towards outside players
00:51that would be added from this point to the start of the regular season yet to that will
00:55be on the roster.
00:56So there's one.
00:57Now we just need a running back.
00:58That'll get added.
00:59I'm sure and then grabbing somebody else off waiver.
01:02So you have added basically the interior defensive line for the Buffalo Bills last year because
01:09you wouldn't trade it for Jordan Phillips and now you've added Linvall Joseph, who was
01:12with the Bills last year, was not with the Bills for the entire season.
01:16He picked up about midway through but had played seven games for the Bills last year
01:20and was in there in that defensive interior when the Cowboys played last year.
01:25So this is somebody that Mike Zimmer's got a lot of experience with having spent five
01:30or six seasons in Minnesota with Mike Zimmer and as soon as Zimmer was gone, I believe
01:35I think it was right after he left was when they finally purged him out.
01:39So this is somebody that Zimmer's been a fan of and believes in and is not going to give
01:44you anything other than just eat space like he is there to plug up blockers and to get
01:51in the way and keep things clean for linebackers so that they can just run free.
01:56But this is not somebody you're going to notice making splash plays.
01:59This is somebody that's here to just eat up space.
02:02Did you watch tape of him?
02:03I watched a little bit of him last night.
02:04Yeah.
02:05And so it's not bad.
02:06It's just it's not there.
02:08There's nothing dynamic about him.
02:10There's nothing really versatile about him.
02:12He's not the same player that he once was, but I mean, he's still a big strong guy who
02:17can sit there and fill up the gap or the gap or take on guards and centers who can
02:22take on two blockers at times and just be a presence that, you know, takes up two different
02:28hats and makes it free so that you can get Demarvian overshown or Marius Lee if our Eric
02:33Hendricks one of these guys to be able to run free without worrying about a blocker
02:36coming up on him.
02:37So that aspect of it that they haven't had consistently a guy who's just strong, powerful,
02:43big, think, think like a lesser version of Hankins.
02:47That's the type of player that he is, and that's what he'll do.
