00:00Monday the 26th of August is National Dog Day. The UK is truly a nation of pet lovers
00:08with around 28% of British adults owning a dog. That's an estimated 10.6 million pet
00:14pooches in the UK alone, according to the 2024 PDSA Animal Wellbeing Reports. This National
00:20Dog Day, animal charities are encouraging us all to show some much needed appreciation
00:24for the love and joy our pets bring to our lives by giving them special treats, taking
00:28them on an extra long walk or arranging a pet playdate for our furry friends. It's also
00:33a great chance, say the organisations, for those of us who are able to lend a hand at
00:37your local shelter or sponsor a pup if you're without your own to pamper. With our dogs
00:41being a key member of the family, we've once again conducted our annual survey to find
00:45out which you prefer, your pets or your partner. If you had to choose between a romantic dinner
00:50with your partner or a cosy night in with your dog, which one wins and why? What's the
00:54one thing your dog does that your partner could never compete with? If your dog and
00:58your partner both needed your attention at the same time, who gets it first and how do
01:02you justify your choice?
