Raiders and Chargers: Impact of Moves and Value Surge

Transcript
00:00The Raiders went from Oakland in that crappy stadium to Vegas, and they're top five now
00:09when it comes to their team's value of over $6 billion.
00:12The Chargers, ironically, moved from San Diego to LA, and back in San Diego, they were like
00:1818th most valuable, and they've moved up a little bit, but they haven't done what the
00:23Rams or the Raiders have done, and yet they're judged the same way as well, based on wins
00:27and losses, and they don't seem to ever win with an elite quarterback, and I want to get
00:32your opinion on what you think the Chargers will be now under Jim Harbaugh.
00:36Well, they should be better, but I think their roster isn't great right now, so again, there's
00:41a lot of people.
00:42I follow this nationally and locally, and I think I specialize in the AFC West, watching
00:48these teams, and Denver and the Chargers are identical.
00:51They're underachievers.
00:52The Raiders have beat Denver eight in a row.
00:54It's impossible to do in football.
00:56They have, and the Chargers, the Raiders split with pretty much every year.
00:59The two most dramatic losses, maybe in Charger history or top 10, happened when the Raiders
01:07knocked them out of the playoffs in one of the greatest games, last game of the season,
01:11and oh, nothing.
01:12The Raiders put up 63 on their ass the last time they played, not in the 80s or 90s.
01:18The last time they played, they put up 63, and the coach and GM got fired.
01:23We brought in the GM, Tom Telesco, so the Chargers are going to be better because Harbaugh
01:28is a hell of a coach, hell of a coach, but he's kind of got a college football staff
01:32with him.
01:33Last I looked, he doesn't have Mike Williams, Keenan Allen, Austin Eckler, some of the good
01:37players.
01:38You know, Bosa's always hurt when he plays the Raiders, Khalil Mack, one of my favorite
01:42human beings of all times, getting older, so the Chargers, if they draft well, and I
01:46love what they're doing on their O-line, are going to get better, and Harbaugh's a good
01:50football coach, but for those who think Harbaugh's going to bring them six or seven more wins
01:54this year, I think they're delusional, so Raiders and Chargers have this really cool
01:59historic rival where the Chargers have won crap in their entire existence, and the Raiders
02:05have this iconic brand and shield and logo, and in Vegas now, but Cap, think about this.
02:11If Kerry Jones didn't come to the rescue and bring Stan Kroenke to L.A., the Chargers and
02:16the Raiders would have split Carson, California.
02:19That would have been the home of the Raiders and the Chargers if Jerry didn't call time
02:24out in the owner's meeting and say, no, no, no, everybody leave the room, we're going
02:29to come in and give Kroenke L.A. because he could pay cash and build the stadium, Chargers,
02:34you're going to stay in the deal, Raiders, you're going to come in third place and go
02:37back to Oakland.
02:38If that didn't happen and Mark Davis didn't go back to Oakland and regroup, there's no
02:44Vegas, and the owners now love Mark because Mark delivered Vegas to every owner who's
02:49getting a piece of the Vegas desert paradise in the NFL.
02:54So it's been a remarkable four or five years, hasn't it?
02:56It sure has.
