00:19Still, the DSWD chief vows to dig deeper into these allegations as we hear more from our Amela Las Moras.
00:25DSWD Secretary Rex Gachalian assured the public that their delivery of aid and government services to our countrymen in need is unbiased and impartial.
00:37This statement is in response to Vice President Sara Duterte's claim that government aid is allegedly being politicized.
00:44According to Gachalian, he's still looking into the full details of this allegation and assured a probe on the matter.
00:51We will consult with his staff, his constituent services people, to find out the details so that we can investigate it properly.
01:00But we have a standing policy in the DSWD that everyone will come to us.
01:05There's a referral letter, no referral letter, anyone who needs it will be helped by our social workers.
01:12Secretary Gachalian was interviewed by the media after he appeared before the House Committee on Appropriations hearing on their proposed budget for next year.
01:21Under the 2025 National Expenditure Program, the DSWD and its attached agencies are asking for a P229.78 billion allocation.
01:31Among the initiatives the lawmakers discussed was the government's flagship program, Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program or 4Ps.
01:39We are happy to report to you that the rounds, the multiple rounds of special assessment have been completed.
01:441.4 million were special assessed and half of it was returned.
01:50Half of it was not returned.
01:52Those that were returned were also paid retroactively.
01:56Meanwhile, next week, one of the agencies expected to face the House Appropriations Committee is the office of the Vice President.
02:04The lawmakers are hoping the Vice President herself will attend so she can also address other issues.
02:10What I can assure the office of the Vice President, the Vice President is the House will extend courtesies.
02:18We'll definitely extend courtesies in the deliberation of the budget.
02:25The budget is based on the NEP that was submitted by the DBM.
02:31In addition to budget issues, the House of Representatives is also set to continue its Quad Committee hearing this Thursday
02:38on illegal pugos, illegal drugs, and the alleged extrajudicial killings during the previous administration.
02:44Lawmakers are calling for the invited personalities to attend and shed light on the issues raised in the previous hearing.
02:51They should answer the questions correctly, answer the allegations correctly, and the truth will be revealed in the Quad Committee's investigations.
03:00And I think to claim that it is politicking now, just because those names were mentioned,
03:06it would be a disservice to the rest of the hearings in which we've already tackled so much.
03:12Melalas Moras from the National TV Network for a new and better Philippines.
