00:00DSWD responded to the statement of Vice President Sara Duterte
00:05that her office is politically endorsing those who are asking for help.
00:10This is the program for those who are asking for medical care, shelter, and other assistance.
00:16Tina Panganiban-Perez has the story.
00:21Special mention yesterday by Vice President Sara Duterte
00:25is the I-X or Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations
00:29of DSWD.
00:31This is what she gave as an example of the funds that are being politically endorsed
00:36when it comes to listening to the budget of the OVP in the Senate yesterday.
00:40Most of the time, we were told that it's not allowed
00:43because it came from the office of the Vice President and it's an enemy.
00:48That's why DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchal said
00:51that they will consult with the OVP to investigate the issue.
00:56Right now, what we will do is to get in touch with her office
00:59to get the full details so that we can investigate
01:02if there is an infraction committed by our people.
01:06Based on the website of DSWD,
01:08the I-X is a social welfare service that provides medical assistance,
01:13shelter, transportation, education, food, or financial assistance
01:19for the needs of a person or family.
01:22Whether there is a referral or no referral,
01:25as long as there is a need and it meets our needs,
01:28we will help them.
01:30Earlier, DSWD faced the camera
01:34for their more than P229 billion in the next year.
01:38DSWD wrote that in the four-piece program,
01:42they have already paid P5 billion
01:45to the wrong beneficiaries removed from the list.
01:49They were looking for P150,000 more on the list
01:53but it was suddenly erased.
01:55DSWD also noted that since last year,
01:595,000 families and individuals living in the province
02:03have been helped by the Oplan Pag-abot.
02:07More than 2,500 of them have returned to their provinces
02:12with economic grants,
02:14have been reintegrated or returned to society,
02:16and have been brought to DSWD care facilities
02:20together with a former POGO hub.
02:23Because there are rooms already,
02:24because it's already organized,
02:26the Executive Secretary gave us the rights
02:29to use two floors of it.
02:31We've retrofitted it into a temporary interim shelter
02:35for our families in street situation.
02:37When asked about the National Economic Development Authority,
02:41or NEDA,
02:42that it cannot be considered food poor
02:45to spend P64 per day or P21 per meal,
02:52Gatchalian replied,
02:53The DSWD and our social workers agree
02:57that P21 is clearly not enough.
03:00That's for the record.
03:01For GMA Integrated News,
03:03Tina Panganiban Perez,
03:05for Tutok, 24 hours.
