00:35welcome to the program.
00:38One of the sexiest women in Asia
00:41at siya'y bahagi po ng teleseryeng Pulang Araw,
00:44dito sa GMA.
00:46Naitay Kapuso.
00:47Please welcome the beautiful Maria Ozawa.
00:50Thank you for being here.
00:55Oh thank you.
00:58Please.
00:59This is the first time I'm actually doing an interview with you.
01:02Yes.
01:03Yes, and thank you. But, you're part of Pulang Araw, congratulations.
01:07Thank you very much.
01:08I know you're working with David Licauco, Alden Richards, Barbie, Sanya, Dennis Celio, they're all there.
01:15The backdrop of the story, of the love story, is the Second World War.
01:20Yes.
01:21Where Filipinos, Japanese, and even Americans got involved in that war.
01:27As a Japanese woman, as a Japanese actor, how did you look at the whole project?
01:34That was very hard, actually, because when I first read the script and my role, I had mixed feelings, of course.
01:45Because, when it comes to history, it's really hard to repeat that because nobody wants to, you know, remember the bad things that they had to go through.
01:58In every country, it doesn't mean only in Japan or the Philippines, but then the drama itself is about, the main is about Philippines and in Japan.
02:07And then this time, the role, when I was reading it, I had an image that maybe a little bit, slightly, the Japanese were in the bad, in the role itself.
02:18So, I was like thinking, would I be able to act out as a good Japanese mother or would I be able to, you know, I didn't want to disrespect anybody or the role itself.
02:31So, I had studied some of the history back then and then how everything was like, you know, going on back in the days.
02:40Right.
02:41Yes.
02:42How did you end up here in the Philippines? How did you find your way to the Philippines?
02:46Back then, this is my 10th year here in the Philippines.
02:50Wow.
02:51So, 10, maybe 2014, end of 2014, I had friends visiting Japan and then they were asking me, oh, why don't you…
02:58Filipino friends, Japanese friends?
02:59Filipino friends.
03:00Visiting Japan.
03:01Yes.
03:02All right.
03:03And they were saying, why don't you visit the Philippines? Have you been here?
03:06I've been to Cebu only one time and Manila, I haven't been here.
03:10And they were like, oh, you're famous.
03:13And I was like, really? I haven't been to the Philippines and I'm famous?
03:17And they were just, just give it a go.
03:19Just come for like visiting, go to the beach and see how you like the culture and the people.
03:25And so, I did following year and I loved it. The hospitality here is great, the food is good and the weather is nice.
03:33At 19, you were introduced to adult movies.
03:37Yes.
03:38What is the story? How did you get there?
03:41So, by that time, I was already working at like bars and lounges in Japan.
03:47As performer?
03:48Performer, yes, yes. I was a performer. And I had my…
03:53Which meant dancing and singing?
03:55No, as in owning like in lounges, bars.
03:59Are you owned?
04:00Part owned.
04:01Part, okay.
04:02Yes. And then I was doing like part-time jobs.
04:04And the people I met there, like especially the girls who work there, they were already in the business.
04:10So, they were like, you know, talking about it.
04:12And they were like saying, oh, did you know that you could go like foreign countries for a magazine shoot when you get famous?
04:19You could go on TV.
04:21First, it was like that really simple stuff.
04:24And I was like, oh, maybe it's a good idea to get famous because I wanted to go abroad.
04:28I wanted to go to different countries.
04:30I wanted to get out of Japan.
04:32And then…
04:33Why?
04:35Because I wanted to explore.
04:37I wanted to experience different stuff.
04:39It's your nature.
04:40Yeah, I just wanted to go to places that I haven't been there.
04:43And then as the time passes, I hear so many good stories.
04:47First, of course, everybody would think that it's like kind of dark, shady business.
04:53Like it's really scary to go there.
04:55So, when you got into the adult movie business, what did you discover?
04:59Because you said it was, you know, you had this impression it was dark, it was dangerous.
05:04So, you finally started to do movies.
05:06What did you discover?
05:08That it wasn't as dark as I thought.
05:11And the people there are very nice.
05:15And the girls who work there, of course, it depends on them why they were in that industry.
05:21But it's not because they all wanted money or they just like, you know, had no dreams or anything.
05:28People actually really had a dream and they really was using that industry for their step up.
05:35And they really had their own mind and they knew what they were doing.
05:38So, it was like something very new and different but in a good way.
05:43Why did you quit?
05:44Because I wanted to quit the industry while they still know about me or when they're still talking about me.
05:51Because how am I supposed to prove anything if I'm not famous anymore?
05:57Family, relatives, friends, were they a consideration?
06:03And how did they react when you were doing AV, adult videos in Japan?
06:07Friend-wise, it was easier for me to know who was really my friend and who just went away.
06:17Which means that there were people who left you because you did adult movies?
06:21Yes, a lot.
06:23They would say things.
06:25They would say nasty things about you?
06:27Oh, yes.
06:28But the friends that I'm with right now, we've been together forever.
06:34Some walked away but some walked in.
06:36Yes, and then stayed and supported me.
06:38So, that's just the important part.
06:40Family-wise, really, really messy.
06:42Really messy?
06:43Yes, of course.
06:44But I understand where they're coming from.
06:46Of course, they're a parent.
06:47I'm a girl.
06:48Of course, they would go against it.
06:50But when I left the house, I just told them that I'm going to come back bigger, better.
06:58And I just want them to wait.
07:00And I said, I'm sorry.
07:02But then afterwards, I never went back.
07:05We kept on maybe...
07:07How are you and your family today?
07:09We're better.
07:10You are better?
07:11Yes, we're doing better.
07:12You're still working on it?
07:13Yes, there's a lot to work but it's getting better, I guess.
07:17I've invited them to the Philippines a couple of times.
07:21They haven't come?
07:22No, not yet.
07:23That'll come.
07:24Yeah.
07:25We do fast talk.

10:12Okay.
10:14Anytime.
10:15Anytime.
10:16Complete the sentence.
10:17The real Maria Ozawa is?
10:23Spontaneous.
10:25Wow.
10:26Wow.
10:29I have a couple of questions.
10:30Yes.
10:31One, you had a very public relationship with Jose Sarasota.
10:37Yes.
10:38Okay.
10:39We want to find out how was that?
10:42How was that breakup?
10:43Was it easy?
10:44Was it hard?
10:45That's number one.
10:46Right now in your life, what do you know for sure about men?
10:53About love?
10:55And are you thinking about marriage?
10:59The answers when we come back.
11:01Magbabalik po ang Fast Talk with Boy Abunda.
11:08Kami nagbabalik po dito sa Fast Talk with Boy Abunda.
11:11Kasama pa rin po natin si Maria Ozawa.
11:14You had a very public relationship with Jose Sarasota.
11:18What did you learn from that?
11:20And how easy or how difficult was the breakup?
11:25Well, I learned a lot because the culture, first off, was very, very different.
11:30But in a way, I think we learned a lot in our differences.
11:37He, I think, understood more about the Japanese culture.
11:40I understand more about his culture, the Filipino culture, which was good.
11:46But which was hard also because everything is different.
11:50Relationship-wise or business-wise or as a human, of course, it's different.
11:57So it's not like nobody's bad.
12:00Nobody's not bad, but it was just hard to blend in.
12:04The breakup was easy? Was difficult?
12:07Actually, it wasn't anything bad at all because I went back to Japan because of the pandemic.
12:13And when I went back that time, I didn't know when I could come back to the Philippines.
12:18And there was no way any foreigners would be able to come to Japan.
12:23So it was just like a mutual decision.
12:26And we talked about it and we decided to break up because we didn't see any future.
12:34I mean, we didn't know what to do about it.
12:37But it was just nothing third wheel or whatever.
12:41It's actually very hard to ask that question because no breakup is easy.
12:45Oh, yeah.
12:46You invest a lot of time, a lot of love, a lot of respect for each other.
12:51Let's talk about men.
12:52Okay.
12:53What do you know about men for sure?
12:54Not necessarily Filipino men.
12:56We'll talk about that later, but men in general.
12:59In general?
13:00Yes.
13:04I guess I don't know anything about it because I'm still single.
13:08But it's really hard to understand them.
13:15What don't you understand about men?
13:18Well, they're very different from women, of course.
13:23And sometimes I just feel like I just want to check what they're thinking.
13:31Sometimes it's very, very different.
13:34Sometimes it's very similar.
13:36There's no same.
13:38So, it's so hard to…
13:40What is your type of a man?
13:43Type of a man?
13:47Who understands when women are…
13:54When I'm saying I really concentrate on working and business is very important and people who's not too…
14:03You should respect that.
14:04People who should not be too…
14:05Conservative.
14:06Oh, okay.
14:07Especially in Japan, they still have…
14:10Well, it's our culture, so I don't want to say anything against it.
14:14But, you know, women are supposed to be housewives.
14:17They should stay home.
14:19And those kind of mindset is okay because that's their culture.
14:24That's part of the culture.
14:25Yes.
14:26I don't mind at all.
14:27But for me, I want somebody who will be supportive with me and independent.
14:30And you're very liberated.
14:32Yes.
14:33And you're adventurous.
14:34Yes, very.
14:35You're very experimental, as you said.
14:37Yes.
14:38Right now, I'd like to listen to you.
14:40What do you know for sure about love?
14:43About love?
14:44Yeah.
14:45Oh, man.
14:48Well, love is when you can sacrifice yourself for that person.
14:54Sisterly sacrifice.
14:55Yes.
14:56Was there a time in your life when you doubted love because of the nature of your job?
15:06Oh, yeah.
15:07Yes.
15:08That you thought men were just after your body?
15:11Yes.
15:12You went through that?
15:13Yes.
15:14Of course.
15:15Of course.
15:16Especially when I was in that…
15:17The AV business.
15:18AV business.
15:19Of course.
15:20You became cynical about, you know, what does he want from me?
15:23Yeah.
15:24It was like really obvious that people, they just liked me for what I am.
15:30Right.
15:31Not like who I really am.
15:32Were there people also who were rude to you?
15:35Yes.
15:36Because you were in the business?
15:38Yes, yes.
15:39Of course.
15:40Or some guys who liked you, but when they discovered that you were doing AV, they would back off?
15:46Oh, yeah.
15:47Well, usually they would just say that I would never be able to be in a real relationship
15:53or you won't be able to trust people because you're in the industry.
15:57Who would like really, you know, think about you in a serious way.
16:02Alright.
16:03And all that.
16:04I get it.
16:05Are you in love now?
16:06Yes.
16:07I love a smile.
16:09Yes.
16:10Are you thinking about marriage?
16:13I hope so, yes.
16:15Yeah.
16:16That would be really nice.
16:18The most important life lesson that you've learned about life?
16:23To not to trust people easily.
16:29Like in any genre or anything.
16:33It's just, it's good to be nice, but just don't go 100% full when you're not even sure of that situation or anything.
16:45I get it.
16:46Yeah.
16:47Before we say goodbye, I want to do something with you because I also aspire to be an actor.
16:54You can speak in Japanese.
16:56I can speak in Tagalog.
16:58But the scene is you and I like the same man.
17:03Okay.
17:04But you are married to him.
17:07I am the other woman.
17:09Okay.
17:10I am the other man.
17:11Okay.
17:12So I go to your house and I'm going to ask you to leave your partner because I deserve him.
17:25That's the drama.
17:26Okay.
17:27Okay?
17:28You get it?
17:29Japanese.
17:30Tagalog.
17:31Tagalog.
17:32Okay?
17:33Changsusan.
17:34Standby.
17:35Five, four, three, two, action.
17:37Hello.
17:38Hello.
17:39This is Maria.
17:40Hello.
17:41Konnichiwa.
17:42How can I help you?
17:43This is Maria.
17:44How can I help you?
17:45Where is your partner, Donnie?
17:48He's not here right now.
17:49Do you know that Donnie is my boyfriend?
17:51No, I don't.
17:52Do you know?
17:53I don't know.
17:54What do you want to do?
17:55You don't have the right.
17:56I love him.
17:57Now.
17:58Wait a minute.
17:59I'm not kidding.
18:00Where is Donnie?
18:01Where is he?
18:02Why are you asking me?
18:03I think he went over there.
18:04I don't think he's here.
18:05I don't know.
18:06I don't know.
18:07But you know that you don't have the right.
18:09It's okay.
18:10Donnie is mine.
18:11He doesn't belong to you.
18:12Donnie.
18:13Donnie.
18:14Donnie.
18:15Donnie.
18:16Donnie.
18:17Donnie.
18:18Donnie.
18:19Donnie is probably not there anymore.
18:20What do you have that I don't have?
18:22Donnie is dead.
18:23Maria, don't laugh.
18:24I don't know.
18:25Speak in Japanese.
18:26I don't know.
18:27Speak in Japanese.
18:28Speak in Japanese.
