EU Slashes Tariffs on Chinese-Made Tesla Electric Vehicles

The European Commission cuts its proposed tariff on imports of Tesla cars built in China, and some other Chinese EV companies.

00:00The European Union has slashed its planned tariffs for Tesla's Chinese-made electric
00:05cars and for some Chinese firms that work with EU automakers.
00:10Tesla's new tariff rate will be 9 percent, down from the originally proposed 20.8 percent.
00:16Other Chinese car companies like BYD, Geely and SAIC will also see small tariff reductions.
00:24The commission says it has verified that Tesla received fewer subsidies from the Chinese
00:28government than other companies it had investigated.
00:31The EU recently increased tariffs on all electric vehicles imported from China, citing unfair
00:37state subsidies.
