00:06With Neal Rawls at the helm, Lifetimes's Girl in the Video is a thriller-drama movie that

00:10chronicles the life of a single widowed mother named Emo, who manages to parent her two teens

00:16One of her children, Chrissy, secretly begins talking to a guy named Tony, whom she believes

00:21is a charming high school senior.

00:23When she decides to sneak out to meet him one night, the truth shocks her and lands

00:26her in the deep and dark world of the Internet.

00:29When Chrissy doesn't make it home until the next morning, Emo and her son Robby lead the

00:41The film starts with Emo, a mother of two, preparing herself for a date with a guy set

00:44up by her friend Jennifer.

00:46The date does not go well and Emo comes back home to her daughter Chrissy.

00:54tries without the father in the house.

00:57Their father was a soldier and died in a war.

01:00Anyway, Robby, being the older son in the house, takes responsibility and tries hard

01:06Chrissy begs her mother to go to a party, which Emo rejects, knowing she is required

01:11Later, Chrissy shows a picture of a boy named Toby to her friend Luna and says that she

01:15is trying to convince her mother so that she can meet with Toby at the party.

01:19Chrissy literally stops eating her food as Emo stands still in her position.

01:26Later in the evening, when Emo falls asleep while watching the TV, Chrissy sneaks out

01:30of the house, texting Toby that she will meet soon at the location of the party.

01:34Chrissy comes to the spot and sees that instead of Toby, someone else with a mask comes out

01:39That person ties Chrissy's hands and puts her in the back of his car.

01:46The following morning, when Emo enters Chrissy's room, she finds out that there is no sign

02:03When almost 12 hours are gone, Emo decides to inform the police.

02:07Lieutenant Audrey comes to the house, and Emo describes everything, including Chrissy's

02:13Lieutenant Audrey decides to locate Chrissy through triangulation.

02:17It's a process that will confirm the closest cell tower used by Chrissy.

02:21However, later that night, a video goes on the internet where Chrissy is being abused

02:24by a man in a mask.

02:26Understanding the gruesomeness of the case, Lieutenant Audrey informs the FBI.

02:31The feds send Agent Ray as a lead investigator in this matter.

02:35Emo confirms that the girl in the video is Chrissy and the police start locating her

02:38through the IP address.

02:40Luna confirms that Chrissy has mentioned a boy named Toby who was supposed to be at the

02:44party.

02:45However, when the police enter Toby's house, they find out that Toby has been dead for

02:49two years.

02:50Later, Ray discovers that Toby's social media profile was sold to Dark Web for only

02:55$8, and someone bought it.

02:57The man then creates a whole group of friends so that Chrissy never doubts Toby's existence.

03:02The kidnapper even texted Chrissy from a different account, pretending to be Toby's friend,

03:06to invite her to the party.

03:08There was no chance Chrissy would have known what this man was planning this the whole

03:11time.

03:12Since the man has no identity of his own on the internet, it is getting tougher for the

03:15police to locate him.

03:17What does Chrissy do to help herself?

03:20Chrissy finds herself in a spot where she is chained against a wall and is allowed a

03:23bed and some food.

03:25She is being tortured again and again.

03:27Her videos are on the internet, and the saddest part of all is people are paying the kidnapper

03:33Anyway, as time progresses, Chrissy tries to get to know more about her abductor.

03:38In some ways, the abductor starts liking her since Chrissy has been talking about his family

03:42quite often.

03:43Finally, one day, the mask comes off, and the man asks Chrissy to call him by his name

03:48Jack Sweeney.

03:50Jack even shows Chrissy the picture of his daughter, Molly.

03:53He explains that his ex-wife took Molly away from him.

03:57Jack loves her daughter very much, but since his ex has separated them, he is in despair

04:00of losing Molly.

04:02However, Jack says that Molly still visits him every now and then.

04:06Chrissy tries to console him by saying that his daughter would not have visited if she

04:09had not loved him.

04:11In the meantime, Chrissy finds a screwdriver and keeps it with her.

04:33Nevertheless, with a name that starts with Jack and a nickname that starts with S, it

04:39How does the police save Chrissy?

04:41When nothing seems to be working for them, Mo loses her temper and even slaps Agent Ray.

04:45However, she learns from her mistakes and is willing to apologize to him.

04:50Agent Ray himself understands the situation and plans with Lieutenant Audrey to conduct

04:53a press conference again, hoping that Jack will make some mistakes.

05:01One day, Robbie opens his console to play a game and finds out something very interesting.

05:06He learns that when he was not around, Chrissy used to play, and in the chat, Chrissy used
