00:00There used to be college programs, now they're college teams. You're no longer learning a
00:08program, you're learning a playbook. And the program is ultimately, like at Michigan for
00:12me, that was a pro-style program. Five years I got to learn how to drop back pass, to read
00:18defenses, to read coverages, to be coached. I had to learn from being seventh quarterback
00:23on the depth chart to moving up to third, to ultimately being a starter. I had to learn
00:28all those things in college. That was development. Then I went to New England and I was developed
00:33by Coach Belichick and the offensive staff there. I didn't start my first year. I think
00:38it's just a tragedy that we're forcing these rookies to play early, but the reality is
00:43the only reason why they are is because we dumbed the game down, which has allowed them
00:46to play. It used to be thought of at a higher level. We used to spend hours and hours in
00:50the off-season in training camp, trying to be a little bit better than next year. But
00:54I think what happens is it discourages the coaches from going to deep levels because
00:58they realize the players don't have the opportunity to go to a deep level. So they're just going
01:01to teach them where they're at.
01:02Okay. Is that, is he wrong?
01:06No, absolutely not. But what he's saying is, and what y'all didn't catch there, he said
01:12they dumbed. What he just pretty much said that this generation of quarterbacks. Now,
01:20I don't know if I want to go ahead with Tom Brady because Tom Brady just ain't really
01:22the type of person I think he is. But for Tom Brady to say this new generation of quarterbacks
01:29appear to be dumb because they can't understand the game on multiple levels. So they have
01:36the coaches have to dumb it down. What if the coaches are dumb? Because we've now had
01:43the number one pick two years in a row, be a young black man. Second pick this year,
01:51young black man. So I'm not, I'm not saying that, you know, Tom Brady's feeling this kind
01:59of way for a reason. But if you're saying they're dumb and they can't process the information,
02:06so they had to have it dumbed down and fed to them because the standard has changed at
02:11the college level. You did five years. So does that mean that every program should be
02:18ran away because it works for you? Or back in the day, that's how it worked. Or now because
02:24the quarterback is different. Now, the mobility plays a part in it. The accuracy, the arm
02:30strength. There are more things to a quarterback now than what you and Peyton Manning did.
02:35Legendary quarterbacks, Dan Marino, legendary quarterback. But these guys are different.
02:41So the game is simpler because they have more tools than you. Or you think they're
02:49dumb because now black quarterbacks are being drafted as the number one pick.
