00:00Who is your number one winner who takes the cake from the 2024 NFL draft?
00:07I mean there's no cheaping out of this and I guess you can say winner from maybe even
00:11last draft.
00:12Why?
00:13Because that was the Chicago Bears who had two top ten picks because they made a shrewd
00:16move last year by trading their pick over to Carolina which then turns into you might
00:20be getting your franchise guy in Caleb Williams.
00:23Now also, here's what maybe another move could have been.
00:26Hey look, we have two top ten draft picks here, let's set the quarterback number one,
00:29we'll trade out of let's just say number nine, we'll stack up picks, you know, we didn't
00:32have a great season last year, we're looking to build long term.
00:35You know what they said?
00:36And I love this.
00:37This is what every single front office ownership group is supposed to do.
00:41Draft a young quarterback and don't say, well, we'll eventually get some of those players
00:44around you but we gotta get you first.
00:46No.
00:47You get your superstar quarterback and you surround them with unbelievable talent because
00:50most people look at the Chicago Bears, Ben, and say what?
00:52They don't need another wide receiver, they don't need another tight end, they don't need
00:55another running back.
00:56Go defense here, build that up because the quarterback is good enough and he should be
00:59fine.
01:00And they go, you know what?
01:01We love you as a quarterback.
01:02We think you could dominate probably with average weapons.
01:04Let's give you some of the best weapons in the entire league as a rookie to come in and
01:07form good habits right off the bat.
01:10I love, love what the Chicago Bears did with their two picks here in round number one.
01:14Yeah, me as well.
01:15Chicago is my number one winner.
01:18Anytime you get who is expected to be a generational talent in a quarterback with your number one
01:23overall pick, you didn't have to do any posturing to get Caleb Williams.
01:26You didn't need to make a move this year to get Caleb Williams, but you did make the
01:30move last year to be settled in this position.
01:33And we'll talk about Chicago's outlook and what we can expect out of Caleb Williams in
01:38his rookie campaign in 2024 with this Bears organization.
01:42But I believe in Caleb.
01:43I believe in him as a franchise quarterback in Chicago for some time to come.
01:48But the reason I have the Bears as my number one winner is really the guy they drafted
01:52with their second top 10 pick, and that's Roma Dunzey, who I think is right there, neck
01:57and neck with both Marvin Harrison Jr. and Malik Neighbors as one of the best wideouts
02:01in this NFL draft.
02:03In the final days, DRS leading up to the first round, there was an idea that because of some
02:08flurries of maybe some trades that teams would make in the top four, in the top five, in
02:13the top 10, that Roma Dunzey would be a target and would go much earlier than the ninth overall
02:19pick that Chicago could hope to get him for.
02:22In fact, Byron Murphy, the interior defensive lineman out of Texas, was the favorite to
02:27go ninth overall as we entered the draft last night in Detroit because of the steam around
02:32Roma Dunzey.
02:33Chicago didn't have to move.
02:35They stay put with their second pick in the top 10 at ninth overall, and they get Roma
02:39Dunzey.
02:40And it's part of the picture.
02:41Chicago Bears were three and eight last year before they rattled off five wins in their
02:46final seven games.
02:47Some thought it might be enough for Justin Fields to stay as the starting quarterback
02:50in Chicago.
02:51Not the case.
02:52And I'm okay with the decision that Chicago made.
02:54But you're adding Caleb Williams to a team now surrounded by resources on the outside.
02:59The additions this offseason of Keenan Allen, of Roma Dunzey, of course, in the backfield
03:05as well with DeAndre Swift.
03:07You can see the expectation.
03:09It's not, hey, kid, go out there, get a six to seven wins, and hope we stay competitive
03:13in NFL games.
03:14It's hey, kid, let's get to the postseason.
03:17Let's reach the NFC playoffs.
03:19Win total is eight and a half for Chicago.
03:21The hope is at least nine wins and an above 500 record.
03:24It's a minus money price at minus 104.
03:26There's actually a little bit more juice on the no to miss the postseason for Chicago,
03:30but it's virtually a pick them to make the playoffs.
03:33That is the expectation.
03:34Will Caleb Williams match it?
