00:00Yes, Mr. Chair, when the unfortunate event of the burning of the Manila Post Office transpired,
00:06the Department of Tourism volunteered to step in and assist in whatever way that it could
00:12through our infrastructure arm, TIEZA.
00:15And we were told by the Philpost, as well as the other cultural agencies, that prior
00:21to any reconstruction or rehabilitation efforts is the necessity of coming up with a detailed
00:29engineering and architectural study that will set forth the minimum parameters for
00:36rehabilitation.
00:37This has since been procured by TIEZA, and the same has been coursed to the cultural
00:47agencies and other members of the technical working group for approval.
00:51And so what we can expect, Mr. Chair, is the rehabilitation of the Manila Post Office,
00:59as well as its repurposing, to the standards that are set forth by our cultural and heritage
01:06agencies to ensure that its cultural integrity is not compromised, even as it serves the
01:13community as a tourism destination.
01:17Thank you, Mr. Chair.
01:18I don't know how much.
01:19Yeah, maybe we just know how much is there.
01:21Yes.
01:22Initially, the amount of 15 million pesos was just for the design, detailed engineering
01:30and architectural design, all the consultants and the like, yes.
01:35The actual budget for the rehabilitation will be known post the approvals of these studies.
01:44The intention is to present the repurposing of the Manila Post Office as a project for
01:53a public-private partnership.
