Donkey rides have been criticised for their impact on animal wellbeing so we asked Glaswegians what they think.
Transcript
00:00I think, I think donkey rides now for me personally should be stopped. I think we've got enough intelligence, we've got enough resource, we've also got enough technology to do things other than donkeys.
00:12You know, if owners allow it, and it's a means of income for some people, I understand that argument, but personally speaking, I think the whole donkey ride experience is a little bit outdated.
00:23So as a vegan, obviously, I believe the exploitation of animals is immoral and exploiting donkeys for donkey rides is immoral.
00:30The animals should be free to live their lives without being pressured into performing for and lugging about people.
00:35And I think donkeys should be supported in sanctuaries to live out their lives in peace and comfort without being hassled by people.
00:42Tradition doesn't equal morality, and there are a lot of things that throughout human history were considered normal, which we've grown as a society, and now know that that's no longer correct.
00:53And I think if you look at films, media, they've all developed to modern sensitivities.
00:59I think our exploitation of animals will be one thing we'll look back in the future and think, well, we didn't need to do that.
01:06It wasn't necessary to live happy lives.
01:08And I think, yeah, times move, things change, and people should move with it and form new happy memories based around being compassionate, I suppose.
