00:00Hi, I'm Lily Collins, and this is Would You Wear It Now?
00:15Oh boy.
00:17Little Lil.
00:19This picture is
00:22from the
00:24Oscars when my dad was nominated for You'll Be in My Heart for Tarzan.
00:29So I was, I think, about 10 years old. Wow. The crimped hair was something I was very, very into, and
00:36the frosted blue on my lips, as well, and my eye shadow.
00:41I can't help but laugh when I look at this photo. Honestly, I don't even think that these are
00:48designers that I
00:49would be able to name. What I do remember, though, is
00:53that shawl came from my mom's closet.
00:56I needed a little
00:58something extra to add to my silk outfit, and I ended up finding that in there. So that was a nice little touch.
01:05Would I wear it today?
01:07No.
01:09I'd wear the clip, though. I'd wear the clip, and I would definitely have my hair look like this, which is a little bit
01:16maybe similar-ish.
01:21This
01:22right here is
01:24Oscar de la Renta, and this was my first Met Ball. I think I was about 18 years old.
01:30Sat at the Teen Vogue table. I went alone.
01:33I was not given the opportunity to have a plus-one, so I walked into this massive room, not knowing a single person.
01:41Was terrified.
01:43And I ended up having the best night ever. I loved every second of it. I kind of feel like
01:50this is exactly how I looked every day at the age of 18, with my hair behind my head, with my long-
01:56My hair was so long. But yeah, this was a terrifying and exhilarating evening that I will never forget.
02:02I know that the feathers ended up all over the Met. I will say that.
02:06I would totally wear this again.
02:12Oh, I remember this night so well.
02:14The premiere of Mirror Mirror with Julia. This is a vintage Dolce & Gabbana dress.
02:22I remember the second that I saw it on the racks.
02:24There was no question that this was going to be the dress for the premiere. It felt
02:28special and it felt very
02:31appropriate for
02:32Snow White and me at the time. Funny story, I now have real bangs, but this was a piece. So these were fakies.
02:41This was back when I was testing the waters. Didn't fully commit yet, but I'm glad that I have now.
02:48I would wear this again. I would wear probably different shoes and style it a bit more rock and roll, but I wouldn't say no.
02:55Okay, this next one
02:58is Paul Copp.
03:01And I remember also seeing this one on the rack, and only from the front though.
03:05And I hadn't experienced the magic of the back. And then they swung it around and I went,
03:09oh, well, that's a no-brainer.
03:10I loved that this I wore right after, a little after Mirror Mirror.
03:16And it felt like a nod to the Snow White of it all. But at the same time I'd graduated
03:22past that a few years ago. I just cut my hair kind of to the length I am now.
03:28And I just thought that the elegance of the black and white was
03:34very chic, but then the back had a little bit of pizzazz and sass to it, which I loved.
03:39It's obviously at the 15th Annual Costume Designers Guild Awards, and I was presenting an award.
03:46And yeah, I would definitely wear this today. Again, I would maybe funk it up a little bit, but I loved it.
03:54This next one is Zuhair Murad, and it's probably one of my all-time favorites. Not only because of the dress,
04:00but the night. It was at the Golden Globe Awards.
04:04I was nominated for my role in Rules Don't Apply, and it was a
04:09dream to be included, a dream to be there.
04:13An amazing
04:15dress that I never thought that I'd be able to wear to something like this.
04:18It was magical, and the way that the
04:22mesh on the material fit my skin tone so perfectly that it just looked like it was laid on me was
04:28magic. I tried it on, and again, it was like a no-brainer.
04:31I don't know if I'd wear it again because of the memories attached to it the first time.
04:36I wouldn't want to repeat something that already was so magical, but I definitely don't regret it. I love it.
04:44Ooh, sassy.
04:46This one's Elie Saab.
04:48I'm just gonna start off by saying I would 10,000 times wear this again.
04:52I don't care if I've worn it once, I'd wear this thing like a hundred times. I love it so much.
04:56I loved belting it. I thought that was a really cool touch. It added like a hardness to the soft
05:02feathers and the sheerness of the dress.
05:05Strategically placed beads, I might add.
05:08I love the hair and makeup. It was at the Vanity Fair Oscar party,
05:11so it felt like an ode to old Hollywood glamour was appropriate, and
05:16I, yeah, I just loved every part of this dress. Again,
05:21I have a running theme of leaving feathers all over the place,
05:24so I'm pretty sure people stepped on me all night, and there were little bits of me floating around the party.
05:29I mean, Jean-Baptiste Vallee.
05:32This goes down in the books as one of my favorite
05:36outfits of all time for me, for memories, for aesthetic.
05:40I got to wear the most incredible Cartier jewelry with this as well. It was the most
05:47magical costume fashion moment. It was for the Met Ball, the Met Gala, and
05:53it was the camp theme, and we paid tribute to Priscilla Presley's wedding dress.
05:59And my incredible
06:02glam team extraordinaire, Gregory and Fiona, helped create this
06:07amazing aesthetic. I loved every second of it.
06:11Yeah, I mean, let's talk about being stepped on, though.
06:14I definitely was stepped on many a times wearing this train, but it was worth it and beyond.
06:20It helped me channel my character for the evening, and I loved it so much.
06:25So, I would wear this again.
06:28But you know what? I'd switch it up and wear a different shoe, and we could come up with a whole different glam look.
06:34I've been to a fair few Met Balls
06:37throughout the years.
06:40I want to say upwards of six.
06:43I've actually, I mean, I say that, but I've like, to me, every single time I get invited, I pinch myself.
06:50It's a huge honor to get to go and to be able to wear different designers, and I've been able to attend with Cartier now
06:56for a long time, and I'm so grateful because I
07:00love being surrounded by the photographers, the models, the designers.
07:05I geek out getting to be in the same room as those artists, and
07:09they're people that I don't get to ask questions of very much.
07:12So, to be able to see the exhibits and to soak in all that creativity and wear something magical is
07:18such a dream, and each time you get to play a different character, and like I said, my amazing team
07:24collaborates each time on creating a new look and a new character. We do rehearsal runs.
07:30We have fun with it, and it's one of my favorite nights.
07:33Okay, another Jean-Baptiste Vallée.
07:36This was from the Tolkien premiere in London. Fun fact, our flight was delayed.
07:41We got in very rushed to the hotel and had about an hour to get ready
07:47for this.
07:48So, we really, I think, pulled it together quite quickly. I remember this belt
07:53being kind of the little cherry on top because I didn't realize it had a belt at first.
07:58So, when I tried on the dress, I thought it was utterly magical.
08:01It felt like a painting. It felt very appropriate for the premiere, and then, bam,
08:05we put on this belt, and it was like an ode to the Elven Queen, which is what my character
08:11kind of represented to Tolkien. So, it was a nice little nod there. Also,
08:15sneak peek of some crimping in the back, which little Lily also loved.
08:21So, this dress I loved. I
08:24remember having to have some help
08:27splaying out the bottom of it to look kind of perfect.
08:30But yeah, I love this dress so much, so I would definitely rock this again.
08:36Okay.
08:37Elisabe from the Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil, and Vile London premiere,
08:42which was the same week as the Jean-Baptiste Duvalier from the Tolkien premiere in London.
08:48So,
08:49wow, that was quite a week, quite a fashion week. It was also very cold this night.
08:55This is very sheer. So, fun fact, I was freezing.
08:59I love this as well. The beads, yet again, are strategically placed, beautifully put
09:05on the body. I loved the pop of blue in the earrings and the eye shadow.
09:10I always like to try and play a little bit with color and have it pop somewhere else on the outfit.
09:16I did not know that evening that the carpet would also be blue.
09:21That was just a real fun turn of events when I showed up.
09:26But yeah, I love this one. Again, though, I feel like this is one, this is like a showstopper you wear once,
09:33and you don't need to repeat it. I love it, but I feel like once you've done this,
09:40you've kind of got the memory.
09:45All right, this one's Valentino from the premiere of season two of Emily in Paris.
09:51I thought it was a top when I saw it on the hanger, then I was told it was a dress.
09:56I didn't believe my stylists, and then I put it on and then I slowly realized that yes,
10:01it's just a very short dress.
10:03But it has pockets. A dress with pockets is a girl's best friend.
10:07I love this look so much.
10:10We, Ashley and I, never know what each other's gonna wear and somehow we oddly always coordinate.
10:16I just think that's because we're
10:18connected.
10:19And I loved adding the tights. I feel like that was a little bit of like a French chic quality to the outfit.
10:26I loved the hair and makeup. Gregory and Fiona killed it with that.
10:30Fun fact with Gregory and Fiona, my amazing hair and makeup team, I never look in the mirror.
10:35I let them do their magic and then I look in the mirror at the end and
10:41I just trust them implicitly. So it's always fun to see what I end up looking like at the end of the day.
10:48And this was an amazing memory.
10:51We didn't get to really celebrate season one's launch because it was during COVID.
10:55So this was kind of the first premiere moment that we got for the show.
10:58And yeah, I would totally wear this again. I love it.
11:03This fun orange moment is Gabriella Hurst who kills a suit.
11:07I love Gabriella Hurst's suits and her colors. This vibrant orange
11:12was such a fresh air pop of pop of color for me mixed with the Cartier
11:18jewelry. For me, it felt very sophisticated and chic and I was really going for a pantsuit kind of vibe for the press tour for
11:24Windfall and
11:26again, this was kind of the first press tour I think in person that I'd done in a very long time.
11:31So to even put together looks to be walking around the city felt so odd,
11:36but it felt like me and who I wanted to be and who I am and I just loved the boldness of color and
11:42yet the sophisticated chicness of the suit and I would totally wear this again. All of her suits
11:48I live in and love so much.
11:50It's a very hard choice, but my favorite
11:54is the Elie Saab. I just feel like now that I have bangs, I need to try it again.
11:58You know, bangs change everything and I feel like this dress needs to come out of the closet.
12:05Thanks so much for tuning in. Let me know your favorite look in the comments below.
12:12Great!
12:17Yes!
