00:00The health department is concerned about the community transmission of M-Pox

00:06after a new case was discovered in Metro Manila.

00:10Contact tracing is being done for this case and Joseph Moro was found guilty.

00:18A 33-year-old man from Metro Manila was found with M-Pox or Monkeypox.

00:25He was the first case after the declaration of the World Health Organization or WHO

00:30that the M-Pox was a global health emergency last week.

00:33According to the DOH, the man was not traveling outside the Philippines.

00:38But he experienced a plague that followed the monkey that was swimming

00:42in the face, back, body, groin, liver and lungs.

00:47He was in a government hospital with a confirmable M-Pox case only yesterday.

00:52The DOH is now conducting contact tracing.

00:55That means the virus is here in the Philippines.

00:58We had nine cases in 2023, but we are testing it little by little.

01:05So that means the M-Pox virus is among us.

01:09So it's not important that it's here.

01:12So that's a warning to everybody.

01:14This is a community transmission.

01:16According to the WHO, M-Pox is a disease like but not a disease of smallpox.

01:23It's like a bottle with water inside.

01:26It starts with a bottle with water inside.

01:29But what makes it different from a bottle with water inside is that

01:32when it gets old, the inside of the bottle becomes hard.

01:35There are reports that it's contagious.

01:37Others say it's painful.

01:38According to the Department of Health,

01:40the wearing of face masks should not be repeated

01:44even the social distancing that was done during the COVID pandemic.

01:47According to the DOH, it's not like the COVID airborne

01:50that the M-Pox is transmitted through close and intimate contact.

01:55COVID is airborne.

01:57So it's fast, right?

01:59You can just ride a bus, a train, or a jeepney.

02:03You can get infected.

02:04Unlike this one, close and intimate contact.

02:07It's close, but it dies in soap and water.

02:11It's also not necessary to close the borders

02:14where the M-Pox will be transferred to the things or clothes that it has.

02:19But it's easy to die from soap.

02:22That's why the DOH recommends washing your hands frequently.

02:26According to the DOH,

02:27there are some industries like spas and parlors

02:30that the DOH is giving reminders

02:32to avoid the spread of the M-Pox.

02:35This is the area where there's contact, right?

02:38You hold the patient, you massage the client,

02:41you massage there, parlors, spas.

02:44So we will be coming out with something,

02:47Memes.

02:48Very specific for them.

02:4917 hospitals are recommended by the DOH

02:52that can be visited by those who are suspected to have M-Pox.

02:55We have M-Pox, but we shouldn't be worried

02:59because of COVID.

03:02We are worried because many of us are uncertain

03:05and don't know.

03:07M-Pox was first determined in 1957

03:11as an illness.

03:14But it's also good to be careful.
