00:00Former teacher Fadzli Arif Fadzila has been charged in the Alogajar Magistrate's Court
00:08for the murder of Istikomah Ahmad Rozi, whose body was found in a rubbish bin in Melaka.
00:13According to Cosmo, no plea was recorded as murder cases fall under the jurisdiction of
00:18the High Court.
00:19Fadzli simply nodded when the charge was read to him before Magistrate Teo Shu Yi.
00:24Fadzli is accused of murdering Istikomah, a teacher, between December 26 and 31 last
00:29year on the roadside near Kampung Tanjung Rimau Luar, Pulau Sabang in Alogajar.
00:34He was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which provides for the death penalty
00:39or up to 40 years in jail and whipping upon conviction.
00:42Deputy Public Prosecutor Nazrin Ali Rahim requested for no bail to be granted.
00:47The accused was not represented.
00:49The court allowed Nazrin's request for no bail and fixed October 22 for the submission
00:53of lab reports and the appointment of a lawyer for the accused.
00:57Last week, Alogajar Police Chief Ashshari Abu Sama confirmed that the remains found
01:02in December were Istikomah's after a positive DNA match with her mother's sample taken
01:07on August 2.
01:08A couple were arrested in Perak on August 5 following the confirmation of the victim's
01:13identity.
