00:00I'm with Rod McLean, the Secretary of the Goulburn RSL sub-branch.
00:06Rod, we've just come from the Vietnam War exhibition.
00:10I understand you've written your own poem about the Vietnam War.
00:15Would you like to recite it?
00:17Yes, it's from all over the nation they called us along.
00:21They put us in greens and said go fight the Kong.
00:25We went there jet-cloudy, did our jobs bloody well.
00:29With the rain, heat and stench of that green jungle hill.
00:33You mocked us and jeered us and covered us in paint.
00:36Scorned us, ignored us, said heroes you ain't.
00:39When we looked for support, you all turned away.
00:43Those wounds haven't healed, they're still hurting today.
00:47So we gather each August to meet with our friends.
00:51Remember our mates have met premature ends.
00:54But they'll stand beside us or with us they'll ride.
00:57We'll carry their memories so they haven't died.
01:01Now all you young children come hear what we tell.
01:04Learn the lessons we've learned and remember them well.
01:08The things that we did and the things that we saw.
01:11And then pray to God that you'll never know war.
