Tabata Hachiman Shrine, 2-7-2 Tabata, Kita-ku, Tokyo

The Akagami Nio once sat in front of the torii gate of Tabata Hachiman Shrine. Now it is an adjacent sacred site.

When you visit shrines in Tokyo, you are often surprised by the sacred sites that have been protected by people.
Floods, fires, earthquakes, war damage, and materialism.
Small shrines, shrines on the rooftops of buildings, shrines directly under the highway.
Sacred sites that are there for people in any form, and the guardians that protect them.
I made this video because I wanted to share these beautiful images.
Japanese landscapes and Japanese people of the past preserved in old photographs.
There is a Japan that seems to be forgotten. I really don't want to forget the forgotten Japan.
The photographs are around 100 years old, some are around 150 years old, and some are 85 years old.
Please come and feel the connection with the people of the past.

Takayama-ji Temple Mountain Gate. R-1109. 1872 (Meiji 5). The Niomon Gate of Takayama-ji Temple was burned down in 1881 (Meiji 14). Currently, only the foundation stones remain on the main approach to Takayama-ji Temple. According to the "Takayama-ji Engi" written in the Kamakura period, a Nio statue by the Buddhist sculptor Tankei was enshrined here. The Nio statues can be seen in this photo

My name is Noda Mayu. Shrines and temples are mysterious sanctuaries, and the more you learn about them, the more you are overwhelmed by what you don't know. I will be sharing the charms of my favorite shrines around Tokyo. And sometimes temples too. If you found this video, you are a lucky person.
