00:00You built this points lead, and you got an opportunity to enjoy it a little bit.
00:03So go out there and do your thing.
00:05So far, today's been good.
00:07Indeed, a championship day.
00:09Look at the number 24 returning the 250 Supercross West champion.
00:13Broke his wrist at breast day before this championship began.
00:17First race back for him.
00:19He's really here to get some seat time before the SMX playoffs that start in September.
00:23But he has had success at this track before.
00:26R.J.'s actually been riding Supercross this week to try to get a jump on SMX.
00:30See how he does on that rock star.
00:33Ready to go.
00:34Levi Kitchen, who won last week, a little far outside for the way the start normally
00:38forms up at Bud's.
00:40What's that, about the 6th, 7th pick of the 47?
00:43See how we roll.
00:45Bud's Creek.
00:46Let's go.
00:51Wow.
00:51Deegan wheelies through on the inside.
00:53Oh, a bunch of riders collide.
00:55Big pileups.
00:56Multiple pileups.
00:58And I think Deegan survived.
01:00He has the early lead.
01:01One Kawasaki made it through.
01:02It's Kitchen.
01:03The others are down.
01:04It looks like 29.
01:07We got time after pool was up there.
01:10And, hey, Deegan, this is why qualifying was so important.
01:13But lumber for ties three weeks in a row or three races in a row down.
01:18But Levi Kitchen is in second right now.
01:20He's able to skate past that.
01:22The race is on.
01:23But, hey, Deegan, championship day, where do you want to be?
01:26I think Anstey was in that and Mark Finnis.
01:28I didn't even see Anstey.
01:30I only saw his motorcycle.
01:31We saw a couple of riders go flying.
01:33Julian Boumaire there in the red bull KTM.
01:35Orange in third.
01:36And a good start behind us in fourth.
01:38But Deegan already started to open it up.
01:40That's kind of what you've been talking about.
01:42You get the start here this first half of the first lap.
01:44You can make some serious A.
01:46Yeah, you're going to see these guys spread out, especially from the leaders where Hayden
01:49is and Levi compared to the rest of the pack.
01:53It bottlenecks all the way up in there.
01:54So if you're out front, clean air where these guys got, it's a great opportunity.
01:58Now, the track's going to be kind of a lot different than it was in practice.
02:01It was raining the last time he was out on the racetrack.
02:04As we're looking at Max down, still trying to get back up.
02:08That's down in the first corner.
02:10But, yeah, as you can see, the track's going to be completely different.
02:13They did a little bit of work.
02:14So right now it's prime time to get these guys going and try to make as many moves as
02:19you can.
02:19But you can see it spreading out already.
02:21Absolutely.
02:22Hey, I'm just glad to see Anthony back on the bike because, man, he got launched outside
02:25of that first turn.
02:26Here is kitchen.
02:29Evan Ferry on the wildcat racing gas gas rookie is fifth.
02:33And now we see Tom Beall center of the screen.
02:36He's got some work to do.
02:37He's ninth.
02:38Yeah, I mean, Tom Beall is in the top ten and he's probably already ten seconds back
02:43than Hayden already.
02:44And that just shows you where to start and everything bottles up.
02:46So it's not like he got a terrible start, but he's lost a lot of time.
02:51The way this track is.
02:52But Tom's been fighting all year.
02:54Got somebody on the down.
02:56And it's Jordan Smith, perhaps, who was six.
03:00I think he's down.
03:01That'll help me out a little bit.
03:04Hey, you nailed it, though.
03:04He is.
03:05He's nine seconds down.
03:06You're almost almost almost got ten seconds on the nose.
03:09Jordan Smith.
03:10He kind of messed it up a little bit.
03:12But no, it's going to be hard for these guys to go.
03:15Hayden's throwing some whips out there.
03:17And the way he's been riding the last few weekends, you know, he's got to calm
03:21their confidence.
03:21They continue making some mistakes.
03:23The first moto.
03:24So for him, his last three motos, a four moto is going to have to be redemption to her almost.
03:30So there is the he's got Cody shock right behind him and a good start for Hampshire,
03:35who is eight.
03:36Hampshire was excited.
03:38They made some updates to the engine that he hasn't been able to race on yet since Supercross.
03:42So he was curious to see how the bike starts.
03:44There's Evan Ferry, son of Tim Ferry, your old teammate.
03:47Best race we've seen out of him in his young career.
03:50Yeah.
03:50First time we get to see him up here.
03:51It's good to get him.
03:52This is that experience that any rookies, young kids need.
03:56So Aaron, he's got a champion two time MXGP champion MXGP champion behind him.
04:02So see if he can hold him off.
04:04And that's what a good start to do.
04:06Hey, if you're going to pick a track to get one, it's the right one to do it.
04:09This is the place.
04:10But as you can see how much these guys are spread it out already.
04:14And we're talking Aaron Ferry.
04:16He's in fifth.
04:17So yeah.
04:18And there's Anthony just getting back going a lap down on the 37.
04:23A little mistake from Evan Ferry.
04:25Here comes Vial.
04:26Yeah, it's going to funnel back in.
04:28Yeah.
04:28Tom didn't jump and he wasn't really sure.
04:30Oh, Dylan Schwartz, who had a problem last week.
04:33And he's fighting to try to be top 20 in combined SMX points.
04:38Another rough one for him.
04:41Let's see if Tom can do something with Evan.
04:42It's one of the opportunities where you can pass if you can go out on the outside.
04:46If you get around, things are going to funnel back in.
04:49There you go.
04:50Aaron makes it.
04:51Evan makes a mistake.
04:52Gets on the inside.
04:52Nice AC.
04:55Yeah, guys, something the track crew does when it's wet like it was this morning.
05:00You can't necessarily leave those wet lines from the morning to harden up.
05:04It's just not very practical.
05:06It can be pretty sketchy.
05:07So what they've done now is they've smoothed out a lot of the track, which is going to
05:12make it hard for guys like Vial to slice through the pack and make up time.
05:17Yeah, so a little less separation, a little less technical.
05:20What happens there when you take some of those ruts out?
05:22Well, it does.
05:24As Adam said, it does make it a little bit harder for the guys to make up time, just
05:27because the main line is where everybody's riding at.
05:30It's the dry line.
05:31So going on the outside, it might be smoother, but it's deep.
05:35And so especially on these 250s, you lose all the horsepower.
05:38And you can see RJ has been close the last quarter lap around Evan.
05:43But the way this track works out, it just closes you off.
05:46So particularly this racetrack and how it is, it's going to be hard for these guys to
05:50get in unless somebody makes a mistake.
05:52But RJ's doing what RJ does.
05:53He's going to continue to fight.
05:55Well, I'm glad you brought that up.
05:56RJ said, look, I have only done one 30-minute moto.
05:59He's like, I really have to ride within myself today and just try to control the pace.
06:03And I said, come on, man.
06:04You're RJ Hampshire.
06:05And he's like, I know.
06:06I know that's not normally my thing.
06:08Looks like Anstey has pulled out of this race after that big first turn crash.
06:13Yeah, yeah, it's going to be hard for RJ just the way he rides.
06:17But I'm sure he probably is riding it the way he wants until he gets out here and he
06:22continues to get roosted.
06:24Then he's going to want to try to get aggressive.
06:25But with the track being a little bit smoother and maybe deeper, this kind of reminds me
06:30of the way RJ is.
06:31It's kind of a sloppy racetrack.
06:33He's got to be kind of aggressive, hanging out as he makes the pass on the inside of
06:37Evan.
06:39No way.
06:39Look at Evan.
06:40Evan Ferry fighting back against Hampshire.
06:43Just like his old man.
06:46And looks like Hampshire, who, by the way, grew up with Evan Hampshire, longtime riding
06:51student with Timmy Ferry as his coach.
06:54Probably was back when Evan was on many cycles, makes the move on him.
06:58That's going to make RJ feel old.
07:00Yeah, we won't say anything.
07:02We won't say that the baseball pitch.
07:04No, we know.
07:07I'm going to talk about that.
07:08So Hampshire makes the move.
07:10Here's the motorsport dot com whole shot replay.
07:13Deegan escapes on the inside.
07:14Yeah, well, Hayden gets up on that dry stuff.
07:16And this corner actually starts going back to the right a little bit.
07:19And it looks like that they get pinched off.
07:22And when you go into the left hand corner and guys are going right, it never ends well
07:26in this corner.
07:27This racetrack is notorious for having these issues.
07:30But it was Hayden Deegan.
07:32Got even get the best jump.
07:34But you can see him up there clear.
07:37And then now you got Masterpool and these.
07:40They all pinch each other off.
07:44Wow.
07:45There's the big hit.
07:46That was a big one.
07:48That was trying to figure out who else that was way on the outside.
07:52Might have been Bennett saw KPM go flying there back to the leader.
07:57Deegan, he has opened it up five plus seconds over kitchen.
08:02Yeah, you know, just like last weekend, Hayden's probably enjoying this, having a good time,
08:07just enjoying this racetrack.
08:08Because, I mean, it's tricky, but it's not one of those dangerous, dangerous racetracks.
08:12And the way Hayden rides, how aggressive he is on a motorcycle, the way the track is laid
08:17out is actually going to work well for him.
08:18It's going to suit his riding style.
08:20Looks like he's having a good time.
08:22Almost six seconds.
08:23So I'm sure he's having a good time.
08:24Oh, yeah.
08:29Just like to listen to him at times.
08:30He's so wide open.
08:33And here's the gap back to kitchen.
08:37There it is.
08:38Six and a half now.
08:41Yeah, Levi's going to be in a tough situation in a minute because Hayden's gotten far enough
08:47away from that.
08:47He doesn't have that rabbit in front of him.
08:49But then he has the rookie and Bomer and chance.
08:52Heim is coming up behind him.
08:54So he's got to keep racing forward.
08:56He can't.
08:56Otherwise, he's got to close in real quick on him.
08:59Yeah, could have a battle brewing there to go back to Deegan pulling away.
09:04Oh, yeah, he's having fun.
09:05No doubt.
09:06Hey, super motocross beyond the gate.
09:08That's an exclusive behind the scenes series.
09:11Continues to all 31 events this year, giving fans an inside look into this monster energy
09:16Yamaha star racing team that Hayden Deegan rides for new episodes every Friday on the
09:22Yamaha Motor USA channel.
09:24Give you a behind the scenes look at Hayden's team.
09:27And who knows, could be a championship episode coming up.
09:31Don't forget Eli Tomac rides for that team as well.
09:34He'll be up in the next hour.
09:35It's returned to motocross.
09:38Now, if you're watching Hayden, he looks like he's pretty aggressive for a guy who's
09:42going to hopefully wrap up the championship today.
09:45But by the way, he's riding.
09:47He's actually keeping himself loose, like being almost really loud on the bike, over
09:51revving it, moving around, whipping it like he's basically keeping himself from thinking
09:56about this championship.
09:57And by him riding that way, keeps him super loose, has fun.
10:00And he's just continuing to pull away from these guys.
10:03Hayden's doing a great job as we're watching the rookie trying to hold off the sophomore.
10:08Right.
10:09And chance time is.
10:11But these guys are ten seconds back.
10:13Then Hayden from the lead right now.
10:16Boomer, I think, has been underrated as a rookie this year.
10:18He's been top ten in almost all the motos just this time after a big concussion actually
10:22suffered at Southwick missed a race.
10:24And that was it.
10:25Otherwise, he's been right around that 789 spot, which is really good.
10:28How deep this class is now.
10:30We're really getting to see it running third.
10:32Yeah, you're absolutely right.
10:33And we talked a few times on how deep this class is, you know, getting a tenth place
10:3710 to 15.
10:39Those guys are riding really good.
10:40And it's showing right now.
10:42Julian's up here in third place, hanging with your last week's winner.
10:47Levi kitchen right in front of him.
10:48Chance was pulling away from these guys.
10:50So it's not like he's struggling.
10:53He's up here.
10:54And that's the way he's been riding all year long.
10:56Just that's what a start does for you.
10:58Yeah, well, I miss seeing behind whom they're trying to make the move.
11:03What a difference that we can make last week.
11:05He blew past about 56 riders in the first lap, got the lead, pulling away.
11:10And then it ended like this.
11:12Yeah, tough.
11:13I mean, this is at the point where the hardest part of the race was done.
11:16He got past all those guys and then they stuck with him.
11:18And then now at this point, he had about eight seconds.
11:20But yeah, just going down the hill.
11:22Simple.
11:23Not even really a mistake.
11:25Unadilla happened, got kicked out, and it looked really scary for a while.
11:29But it was able to get up and ride off and then try to come back to second motor,
11:33which he rode a couple of laps, but retired.
11:36Yeah, he's a little banged up.
11:37Biggest thing is burned his arm.
11:39The exhaust pipe landed right on his arm in that crash.
11:43We asked him yesterday about his health.
11:47Honestly, I just took it off Monday, Tuesday road.
11:50Wednesday felt good.
11:52But yeah, definitely blessed to be walking away from that one.
11:54That was a scary one.
11:56Haven't had a big one in a while.
11:57So yeah, fast section and just kind of happened out of nowhere.
12:00So it's sucked at, you know, like five or so laps to go.
12:04So very unfortunate.
12:06But everyone knows that's how that track is and how racing goes sometimes.
12:10But yeah, lucky to be here.
12:11And I just got a burn on my arm.
12:13And yeah, should be good this weekend.
12:16Yeah, good.
12:17It was scary to see him.
12:18And you can see the smoke coming off the bike.
12:20But when I mentioned earlier about Hayden riding, how he was riding over the motorcycle.
12:26Look at that.
12:26Sorry to cut you off.
12:27But that's exactly what just did.
12:29And he triples James taking over third place.
12:32Yeah, I wasn't sure.
12:33Julie went outside.
12:34Maybe he got stuck in the outside because he didn't look like he was.
12:38Chance was really trying to go in and make the pass.
12:40Maybe something happened to him.
12:41But what I was saying was with Hayden, as you're watching chance and, you know,
12:46Levi and all these guys, if you look at their riding position,
12:49like the way they're riding a motorcycle, like they're super smooth.
12:52But then you watch Hayden really hanging the thing out.
12:55You know, bikes all over and loud.
12:58When I said this track fits Hayden, you can get away with it because of the soil
13:02and how sticky it is.
13:03It's allowing Hayden to actually be the best version of himself.
13:06We're riding like chance and Levi being very consistent.
13:10This track doesn't necessarily reward that.
13:12So you can see that's where that gap is coming from.
13:15Because it's not like they're riding bad.
13:17But Hayden, that aggressive being attacking the racetrack is allowing him to be out 11
13:22seconds so far.
13:22And it's seriously because the way the track has been based out, you see in the lap times.
13:28Yeah.
13:28Look at that.
13:28Deegan over a second quicker lap than anyone else with the best time.
13:32But on the same token, last week at Unadilla, does that favor more the kitchen and Hyman
13:36style?
13:37Yes.
13:37And that was my whole point.
13:38So last weekend would reward a track if you rode very smooth, being consistent, being
13:44patient, jumping over the bumps like Chance Hyman, like Levi Kitchen.
13:47And Hayden Deegan is really good at all this stuff.
13:50As we're watching Tom close down on Julian.
13:53Hayden's good.
13:54He's good on all that.
13:55But it eliminates to be able to make up that much time here compared to where last weekend
14:00those guys had a better opportunity to do it because of their riding style or being
14:04aggressive here.
14:05Gets you out to 11 second lead, 13 seconds over three place in a few laps.
14:09As we watch these KTM teammates, Vial and Boumer battle.
14:12Remember, Deegan was doing this at Bud's Creek a year ago, got out to the early lead,
14:17was gone.
14:17And then there was a red flag restart.
14:19And then he actually tagged Vial in the first turn of that and went down.
14:23So the results won't show you how well he rode here a year ago.
14:26He's got a little vengeance on the mind as we watch the relative veteran Vial.
14:31Oh, what happened there?
14:32Yeah, it looks like he got cross right.
14:33So I'm wondering, is that what happened to Julian when he went outside the screen when
14:38he got passed by Chance on there?
14:40Because Tom was close.
14:41Looks like he gets cross right.
14:43And then since they pushed all that mud off to the side, they slam into it.
14:46It slows the bike down.
14:48You just lose a lot of time, as we just saw.
14:50Yeah, got to go back to work to bridge it to his teammate.
14:53Hampshire, we hear, has gone down.
14:55He's no longer in the top 10.
14:57Joey Sivace and Jalik Swole, the try up teammates, are sixth and seventh now.
15:01And this track view, SMX track view, something we started showing last week, putting some
15:07GPS on the transponders of some of the bikes.
15:09Got long-term goals maybe for the whole field eventually to do this.
15:15Right now, we're kind of in beta mode, I would call it.
15:17But you can see some of the data we get.
15:19And you see 48.
15:22That's Hymus closing on Kitchen as Deacon.
15:25See how big his lead is.
15:27Yeah, right above.
15:28Like Levi, as I mentioned a couple laps ago, he was going to be stuck in an awkward spot
15:33because he doesn't have anybody to chase because he can't see Hayden.
15:36So you're naturally going to start riding behind you.
15:38And I think that's what's happening.
15:40Chance Hymus is starting to close up on him.
15:42But Levi, he's been here, done that.
15:44And as I say, that Chance must have made a mistake because Levi's got a pretty good gap
15:48over him right now.
15:49Yep.
15:49And you can see that on the SMX track view as we go back to Kitchen in second.
15:58Yeah, he's in no man's land right now.
16:00No one behind, no one ahead.
16:04Yeah, you can hear these bikes when they hit some of these corners.
16:07It's almost like they got to stay right on the bottom of those berms because otherwise
16:10the RPMs drops off quite a bit.
16:13When it does that, you lose all that time.
16:15And then it just it affects you down the next 30 way.
16:18But Levi looks pretty good.
16:19Looks like he's starting to calm down.
16:20OK, you say bottom of the berm.
16:22Is that where the traction is?
16:23Is that the angle of the rut?
16:24What are you looking for there?
16:25So basically being at the bottom of the berm, that's where the corner is probably the most
16:30packed up and it's closer to the heart base on there.
16:32So you get too far up in the top part with all this mud on there.
16:36You just lose all that momentum and especially in the class.
16:39It's a lot.
16:40All right.
16:40Let's send it down to Jason Thomas.
16:42Well, Hayden Deegan, you see him starting to pull.
16:44They got the start.
16:45But you see how aggressive he's being.
16:47And it's a pretty big departure from what we saw last week in the second moto.
16:51And I think a lot of that is style.
16:53And it's also this racetrack versus a much more technical Unadilla.
16:57Butch Creek rewards aggression in a rider like Hayden Deegan.
17:00That's what he specializes in.
17:02He wants to be heavy handed with the throttle.
17:04And this track will allow him to do exactly that.
17:07And I think you're seeing the results come from that here in that first moto.
17:12Yeah.
17:13And typically with someone like Hayden Deegan, somebody young, 17, 18 years old,
17:18like when I first turned pro, I remember I had one way of riding that that was fast.
17:23It took me a while to learn how to get the best out of myself on each different condition.
17:28And I think that's what makes Hayden so impressive is he does that have that
17:33aggressive all out style.
17:35But you go to a track like Unadilla, you go to a track like high point.
17:39He's able to get the best out of himself on a bunch of different conditions,
17:44which I think that separates him from the other guys.
17:48Yeah, thanks, Adam.
17:49And the stats show that it's really the consistency.
17:52Deegan has eight moto wins this year.
17:53That's a lot.
17:54That's the most.
17:55But it's not dominant.
17:56What really stands out is he's been in the top five in all but one moto.
18:01And that was the sixth.
18:02And on the podium in all but two motos.
18:04Been pretty good everywhere.
18:06No, it's been pretty good all year long and everywhere as we just at the bottom.
18:11It's like Tom was able to get around the rookie and Julian.
18:14But, yeah, as we were talking about Hayden's riding style and coming for rookies,
18:20they've been aggressive and the way Hayden rides really hard on the throttle.
18:24Yeah, he's very good at other tracks at Unadilla.
18:26He was able to win a moto at high point.
18:28He's able to win motos.
18:29But coming here, it's like he doesn't have to think about doing anything.
18:33This is how he naturally rides.
18:34This is how he's always been.
18:36So I think that's why he comes here.
18:38And that gap between him and Levi is a lot bigger because Hayden's more comfortable of
18:42what he's naturally how he rides a motorcycle.
18:45It's better here.
18:46And then you can see Levi finished a second behind him last weekend in the first moto.
18:50He's 16 seconds.
18:51And he started right behind him in this moto.
18:53Just a difference on track.
18:55Oh, yeah, this might be the danger zone of danger zones considering how fast he was at
19:01the track last year and how fast he is right now.
19:04This is a big lead.
19:06And when you look at his points lead, having 73 points as it sits right now, you would
19:11think this is the dominance that you would expect to see to have that big points lead
19:16compared to where you see in the 450 class.
19:18It's a little bit closer.
19:19But it just shows you certain tracks favor certain riders and also how good Hayden's
19:23been everywhere.
19:24Inconsistent throughout the year.
19:26And he's getting close to this thing.
19:28See that line you had at the very top of the hill, that little low spot.
19:32I wasn't even going to say it.
19:33I want to bring it up.
19:34OK, play.
19:35Yeah.
19:36Hey, you got to be smart sometimes.
19:39I think that's within bounds enough.
19:41I would say about the rest of the field.
19:43Like, see, that's how he's pulling away.
19:45He's he's borderline on the track.
19:47Yeah, borderline borderline.
19:48Exactly.
19:49Oh, he's probably not the only one.
19:51Lead up to 17 and a half seconds.
19:55Oh, we're going to show it to you.
19:56Well, I really called it out now.
19:57Yeah.
19:57Watch the left side.
19:58Take it, Jay.
19:59Oh, OK.
19:59I'll be the analyst.
20:01Yeah.
20:01Well, when the hill's maybe a foot less steep.
20:06Yeah, there you go.
20:07He's getting there a little faster.
20:08It's less steep.
20:09Probably gives him a better angle in the corner.
20:11But hey, there's no markers there.
20:13They got knocked over from people running over him.
20:15But yeah, Hayden's just doing his thing.
20:17Even if you adopt him, it ain't going to make no difference.
20:20He was pulled away.
20:21But the kid's having a good time.
20:22And you can see this track's still pretty one lined.
20:25So being out front, one good line out here.
20:28You might as well be out front leading that.
20:31His teammate battle, he's got Romano and Smith on the 31.
20:36Smith had a good start, but then crashed about halfway
20:39through the first lap.
20:40He is not giving up on it.
20:42And it gives us a chance to have a Thor team check in.
20:45Romano 10th, Smith 11th, Benek 16th.
20:49And Anstey out because of that first turn crash.
20:51And Deegan leading.
20:52So the Thor clad Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing riders.
20:57Romano's still kind of in a rebuild
20:59after losing almost two years of racing
21:02due to injuries, ACL, and shoulder.
21:05And I talked to him last week.
21:06He said he's still talking to the star team.
21:08His deal is up.
21:09Hoping to come back next year.
21:11They still believe in him.
21:13He believes.
21:14And it's going to take time.
21:15Oh, is that Ferry?
21:17They're making a move on.
21:18Something went wrong for Ferry.
21:20Yeah, is that Evan?
21:21Yeah, but not on the lead lap.
21:23He's 37.
21:24He's a lot down.
21:26Yeah, back to Nick.
21:28Yeah, the kid has talent.
21:30Like, I mean, for sure, he's doing the right thing.
21:32Just slowly build because he's had a lot of injuries
21:34and setbacks.
21:35So the best thing for him to be out here,
21:37just logging these laps.
21:38And he's getting better every single weekend.
21:40But when you talk about the track and the lines
21:42and how difficult it is once you get out that main line,
21:45we saw how close Jordan was a few corners back.
21:47He went on the outside trying something different.
21:50Get stuck in the soft stuff.
21:52And then look how much time he loses.
21:54It's hard for these guys to make passes.
21:56And Tom's up.
21:57They're following.
21:58And now we found Hempshire, who's back up to ninth.
22:01March Banks on the 26th, who came back to the pro circuit
22:05team last weekend.
22:07He had to stop in the pits, I believe, for goggles.
22:11Not quite sure.
22:12So he's pretty far back.
22:13He's 18th.
22:14But the good news is Schwartz with back-to-back bad motos.
22:19Nice pads.
22:19Yeah.
22:20Inside.
22:20That's on Lux Turner on the AEO KTM.
22:23The good news is that March Banks actually now
22:25has a huge lead over Schwartz in points for 20th.
22:28And that'll lock him into the motos for the SMX playoffs.
22:30So for Schwartz, who's been riding with a wrist injury
22:33all summer and starting to come undone at the wrong time,
22:37here's the pit stop.
22:37Well, we're going to know for sure.
22:39Yeah, it's goggles.
22:40Yeah, it's good goggles.
22:42Yep.
22:42Make sure you get all the dirt out of it.
22:46I mean, it just shows you how important vision is.
22:48So take that time.
22:49Get out there.
22:51But Garrett Schwartz really good as we were watching him.
22:54AC?
22:56Yeah, guys.
22:57Just something on Garrett March Banks.
22:58He was my teammate back in 2019.
23:01And as a rookie, a young kid, 17-year-old kid.
23:04And there were some times in practice
23:06where it would be crazy speed.
23:10He's shown me those flashes that say
23:13he could be a consistent winner.
23:14But obviously, left PC, went to Club MX,
23:18and kind of viewed like his career was
23:20on the decline a little bit.
23:21But now with this opportunity with Pro Circuit,
23:23I really think he has a chance to be special.
23:26So we'll see what he does the rest of the year.
23:30Well, and remember with Garrett March Banks as well,
23:33his last time we really saw success,
23:36he won the Daytona Supercross in 2020.
23:38Literally the last round before we
23:40had to completely change the system for the series
23:43that season.
23:44We've seen him be that guy before.
23:46And I think last week was just a snapshot
23:48of what he can be again.
23:49So yes, he's gone through a lot of change,
23:52went to the 450 class, and come back.
23:54But as to AC's point, the potential is definitely there.
23:57Yeah, 5.5 in the Moto's fourth overall last week
24:00in his return to this team.
24:02And he is in 17th now after the pit stop.
24:06Back to the battle for third.
24:08Vial is trying to catch Hymus and maybe even could
24:12make a run at kitchen here.
24:15Yeah, Levi's a couple of seconds in front.
24:17And good to see Tom up.
24:19He's running really good.
24:20But that time that he lost to these guys,
24:22he's trying to make it up.
24:23And the problem is not going to be one.
24:26These guys are running really good.
24:27So it's going to be hard to catch him.
24:28But once he catches them, that's where the real challenge
24:32becomes being able to get around them with this,
24:34the way the layout is and how difficult
24:36one line in this racetrack is.
24:38And that track is showing you how close the battle
24:40is second through fifth.
24:42And then the lead for the 38.
24:44So Vial, he proved your point.
24:47He said, you know, if you don't get a start on this track,
24:49you're going to get further back the gap
24:51than at most of the tracks.
24:52And that's what Vial is working against right now.
24:56Yeah, I mean, he's working against.
24:57And I would say, I mean, he's running the same lap times
25:00as Hayden is out front right now.
25:01They're all in the 203s.
25:03In fact, chance Hymus was the only one in 202.
25:06But he's 25 seconds back.
25:08And all that time was lost in the first two laps
25:11as he makes a small mistake trying
25:13to get on the outside, gets a little cross-rutted.
25:16And now he's going to have to make up all the time
25:18that he just lost again.
25:20Now what's on the line here is Kitchen
25:23has to finish second to stave off Deegan
25:26clinching the title in Moto 1.
25:28So he has to dig because Hymus and Vial are close.
25:31If Kitchen drifts back to third and Deegan wins the Moto,
25:35then Deegan wins the title right now.
25:37So I think, did I just see Kitchen or no?
25:42I think I just saw Kitchen.
25:43Yeah, no, it's still on there.
25:45I think we have an issue with the timing of scoring.
25:47OK, we'll see in a second.
25:48OK, there is two lap riders.
25:50And on the right side, there goes Hymus.
25:53No, Hymus is ahead of Kitchen.
25:55So that could be a championship level pass right there.
25:59Great pass.
26:00And I wonder, did Levi get caught up in behind those lappers?
26:04Gotta imagine that, Jay.
26:05I was telling you not.
26:07But good ride for Chance Hymus.
26:09And this is that confidence that I'm
26:11saying is kind of brewing up.
26:12Once he's able to do this before Chance,
26:15he was either out front and been able to win the race.
26:18But we didn't see this be able to come through the pack
26:20and just show that consistent speed and doing it.
26:22Although he's 23 seconds behind Hayden,
26:26this is what we're seeing from a guy who's
26:28starting to get that confidence.
26:29And he looks good.
26:30He does.
26:31So now Kitchen has to get him back.
26:32Now, look, it's not really nail biter.
26:34Oh, now Vial has gone by Kitchen as well.
26:37So things are coming unraveled for the 47.
26:39I was going to say, this isn't a nail biting
26:41championship scenario.
26:42There's still three more motos in this series after this.
26:46But I'm sure if you're digging, you'd
26:47love to get this thing done in moto one.
26:49And now he's in position to do so.
26:51Yeah, he's in a great position.
26:53And the way how much fun Hayden's having it,
26:56biggest lead of the year, the most dominating race
26:59of the year on championship day.
27:01I mean, why not?
27:03This would be a perfect opportunity to go out
27:05there and wrap this thing up.
27:06And it looks like he is.
27:07If everything stays the same as.
27:09Yeah, you're right.
27:09Tom Vial got around Levi.
27:11I wonder if something happened with Levi,
27:13whether it's with the motorcycle or him physically.
27:16Normally not like Levi to drop off that quickly.
27:19Oh, yeah, that was a bad lap or two out of nowhere.
27:21Did not see that coming.
27:22So Vial is going to keep digging to try
27:25to get to him and it's getting worse.
27:28We hear for Kitchen.
27:29Look at the gap now.
27:32It's a mechanics area.
27:34He does not glance over.
27:36Yeah, he doesn't glance over.
27:37So it doesn't look like it's an injury.
27:41Maybe it's just something happened
27:43or maybe he's feeling it.
27:48If he starts it down a little bit.
27:49Yeah, yeah.
27:52You see that how he landed off that jump and sat back
27:55almost either he's really tired or maybe
27:57he injured himself a little bit.
27:58That's the only way a rider would be doing that.
28:00So not trying to speculate, but there's
28:03definitely something wrong.
28:04Seeing the body language a little bit, a little different.
28:07Yeah, you can see him really laboring.
28:09And even when he lands off the jump,
28:11his body's starting to collapse.
28:12So it's really not trying to fight going forward.
28:16Boomer would be the next in line in fifth.
28:19Sivacci, Swell, Brown, Hampshire, Jordan Smith next.
28:23Then it's Romano and Masterful down to the first turn.
28:27Three motors, as you mentioned, James in a row
28:29where Masterful has gone down early.
28:31He is in 12th.
28:35And this will allow Deegan to wrap the title
28:38if it ends this way.
28:40The championship celebration, the actual presentation
28:43of the number one plate would come at the end of Moto 2.
28:46But we could certainly acknowledge it
28:47and talk to Deegan about it at the end of this Moto
28:50if it ends this way.
28:52As we speculate on the 47, try to figure out
28:54what could possibly have happened here.
28:57And the replay here.
29:01Yeah, so we're watching.
29:03This is right before the finish line.
29:05Got these guys right up in here as we have to pack.
29:11They got a pack of riders with lap riders.
29:13And yeah, that's Chance, who got around Levi
29:17right before the finish line.
29:18So actually, Levi didn't even get caught up
29:21by the lap riders.
29:21He just goes on the outside.
29:23And you just know he's going to be
29:24He just goes on the outside.
29:26And you just notice with him sitting down,
29:28something's not right.
29:29He lands off there and sits down.
29:30And Levi's the type of rider who stands up quite a bit.
29:33So I can tell a difference.
29:36Oh, I mean, the lap time, he just went a 2.09.
29:39Deegan went 2.06.
29:40Hymus, 2.05.
29:42Vial, 2.04.
29:43Bumair, 2.06.
29:44So Kitchen way off the pace suddenly.
29:46Three, four seconds.
29:48Yeah, to me, if it was the bike, normally riders,
29:51if we want to, we love blaming the team and the bike.
29:54So we don't know.
29:55Yeah.
29:56So if it was a bike, I think he would be away.
29:58But the fact is, there's no way there's
30:00something probably going on with him personally.
30:02I'll be out going after Hymus now.
30:06Yeah, Tom's running a good pace.
30:07It just lost all the time in the beginning.
30:09So he's doing all this work.
30:10But now he really gets messed up with the lap rider.
30:13You can see Chance pulled away from him.
30:16So he's going to have two laps after this lap
30:18to try to catch him.
30:21It seems like, James, you mentioned
30:23one line and hard to pass.
30:25But also, it seems like one mistake,
30:26one caught in a lap rider, one error in a run
30:29seems to also stretch the gap out extra long.
30:32Yeah, and it really depends on where
30:35you catch the lap riders at.
30:36So if you get caught right here in this section,
30:38you get stuck behind someone that's
30:40not running the pace you are.
30:42You got to follow him.
30:43And you see how slow this corner is.
30:45So you got these lap riders who are
30:47battling for their own position.
30:49If you get stuck behind him, you lose that time.
30:51But you also see Tom Gaines that time
30:54being able to be free.
30:55So I think Tom's faster than Chance.
30:58But it's going to be dependent on where he catches him at.
31:01And hopefully, he gets in the spot
31:02where he can make that pass without getting
31:05stuck in one of these berms and try to get around them.
31:12And Vielle has about two laps to do it.
31:15It'll be two laps to go next time around.
31:17Yeah, and it's difficult for these guys
31:19with the track being the way it is.
31:20And since it's still a little wet,
31:22you really can't stay behind somebody
31:24because you're going to run out of tear off.
31:26So you're getting that roost on you and it's packing.
31:29So the guys almost have to lay back and hopefully just kind
31:32of catch them off guard.
31:34We're getting the two-lap board from Hayden Deegan.
31:36Yep, it's starting to click off the moments, the laps.
31:40As he gets closer to a title, catching in fourth
31:42would be enough for him to cinch it.
31:44So over a 75-point lead and in complete control
31:50and does also have the fastest lap of the moto.
31:54Yeah, Hayden didn't want to leave any question
31:56whether he was the best guy.
31:57He didn't want to leave no question
31:59whether he's the fastest guy.
32:01Well, I ain't got no questions, Hayden.
32:02When you're going to answer it, I
32:04think you let it be known out here.
32:05You got a lap and a half to wrap up your first championship,
32:09AC.
32:11James and Wiener, the two-lap board
32:13James and Wiener, I'm already looking
32:15forward to this podium speech.
32:16I'm not going to lie.
32:19Well, we'll give you two chances, this moto.
32:21And then we'll hand out the number one plate in the second.
32:24It'd be hard to imagine if Deegan
32:25doesn't say something spicy.
32:27Yeah, I mean, middle name, Hayden Cajun Deegan.
32:30Oh, wait, there's some spice.
32:32He goes down.
32:34Well, kids at home, that's why you keep riding
32:36to the finish right there.
32:37That's what's nice about having a big old gap on second place.
32:41He lost like three seconds.
32:44Yeah, I miss they won't even know that happened.
32:47All right.
32:47He's got to go back to work on Lux Turner and a couple
32:49of other riders.
32:50Adam, what did you see there?
32:53Guys, I just wanted to apologize.
32:55As soon as I said I was looking forward to the podium speech,
32:57I looked like Hayden stalled it right there.
32:59So I'm sorry to the Deegan camp.
33:01Hey, that's all right.
33:02That means Adam's officially part of the broadcast.
33:04You got the announcer's curse in there, baby.
33:06It's officially happening, announcer's curse.
33:09We call him Cajun for no reason.
33:11He's got to keep everything spicy.
33:12So just fell over.
33:14Just keep us on his toes.
33:15But yeah, I'm down to 12 seconds.
33:18It was a 20-some.
33:19Pressure's on now.
33:22He's a couple of quarters away from the white flag coming out.
33:26And to be honest, the way Deegan rode as a rookie last year,
33:32held the point lead at one point,
33:33was already consistent there.
33:35I wouldn't say this is a surprise by any measure.
33:38We knew coming in, he'd be tough, you know, 100%.
33:43But what his mechanic put on the pit board was huge right there.
33:46Because as a racer, when you got 30 seconds or whatever,
33:49when you fall over, it feels like you get up
33:52and you've been sitting there for a minute.
33:53So in Hayden's mind, I'm sure he probably felt like, man,
33:56how close are these guys are here?
33:58So his mechanic put in plus 12, let him know right there.
34:00Now he can calm back down.
34:02It's actually a smart move by his mechanic
34:03to put that on the pit board instead of waiting for Hayden
34:06to figure out himself.
34:07Yeah, good job there.
34:09Brent Duffy, the mechanic, long time wrench in these pits,
34:12really has found a good fit with Deegan.
34:16Duff life, call him.
34:17Always worked with Justin Brayton for a long time.
34:21And he has really gelled with the Deegans.
34:24Duff actually broke his leg in the off-season riding himself.
34:28And the Deegans made sure, one way or another,
34:30to get him to the first Supercross of the year.
34:32They don't want to race without him.
34:33And this whole program, it has all come together here
34:37for both Deegan and his team.
34:40Yes, it has.
34:41It's really impressive.
34:42And just the way he's been doing it all year long, I mean,
34:46clearly, this is Hayden Deegan at his best right here.
34:50When he's on, this is what you see.
34:52And he's been talking it, backing it up.
34:55Got a whole program.
34:56And there is a lot of pressure on this kid
34:58to come in here and fulfill what he did.
35:00And we saw what happened his first race when he came out.
35:04A couple of years ago back in Ironman
35:05and having to go through what he did last year.
35:08But slowly, each race, he's been building.
35:10He's been building the confidence
35:12as, hopefully, these other guys get.
35:15This is what happens.
35:16And man, I'm so happy and proud for this kid
35:19to be able to do it as well.
35:20Is that Hymus?
35:21Yeah, I think it's Hymus.
35:22He was just in front of Vial, who had caught him.
35:24And now Hymus, on the last lap, has gone down.
35:27Should put Vial to second.
35:29And it might be move Levi up to third again.
35:34I don't think that will affect the title.
35:36I think Kitchen would have to finish second.
35:39So it's not going to change for Hayden Deegan.
35:42Well, a lot of times, titles, we say it's a long journey.
35:46Not really.
35:47Second year as a pro.
35:48Already the SMX champ from last year.
35:50But delivering on all the hype he had built before he turned
35:54pro, Hayden Deegan wins the moto.
35:56And that should be enough to clinch the championship.
36:04We'll wait until it's official when they come across.
36:06We're watching Savace and Swole.
36:08They were in a battle the whole way to triumph teammates.
36:14And they're still battling in this final section.
36:16There goes Boumer.
36:19And Hymus lost a ton of ground.
36:23Yeah.
36:25There he is.
36:25Man, he's out of the top five.
36:28So lots of shake-ups in that moto.
36:32And that's why I wanted to wait until everyone came across
36:34to make sure Kitchen did take third.
36:36I was like, I want 30 seconds.
36:37And then I went down.
36:41That's the way to do it.
