01:31are talking about a young man of 27 still young man only his seventh pro fight tonight,
01:38Ben and his brother Carl very skillful side paws, I think they're both at the same weight as well,
01:51yeah, box very similar, very well schooled, well beyond their job and I remember certainly Carl
02:00up at GB is a cracking boxer, he really was very skillful indeed but Ben also can see too much of
02:08Ben up at GB, I heard some really good things about him and he's looks like a spitting image
02:13literally not only the looks but the way they box very very similar if anything probably Ben
02:18takes the odd risk a little bit more than what Carl does, Carl is more of a mid to long-range
02:24boxer but Ben as we see steps inside and he likes to mix it up occasionally look with those bent
02:31arm shots there but by doing that then there's a risk element as well so just got to watch what
02:38he's doing here because as I say I think Rodriguez prefers that type of battle here he won't fancy
02:44trying to a box and fail at distance he'll want to get up close here, let's not overlook Rodriguez

04:02A lively opener to this one Richie, yeah it started this opponent at the first 30 sec
04:1330-40 seconds so Benfail is really going for it but so is his opponent so Rodriguez landed
04:19a couple of shots and that brings him into it for short and mid-range look and he's been
04:24successful he's a bit wild and swinging so it wasn't a bad start was it for both of them
04:28quite a contrast to how fail actually settled down and started to look the part as a boxer
04:33from the outside but Rodriguez looks a handful and it looks like he's come to win 15 victories
04:43in his pro career out 35 before tonight
04:46Rodriguez obviously sensing that he's just a little bit too far out that's why he's keeping
04:56that guard nice and high and just thinking of how to get forward and draw you see drawing
05:03Benfail into that type of battle there you go he's just urging him on there you can see
05:06him, Benfail he's scoring with some good shots as well but it's a 50-50 ball in this situation

05:50than anything else Richie with Rodriguez touching down I think he feels as well that Rodriguez may
05:55not have recovered fully Paul that's why he looks just a little bit jittery on the legs does
06:00Rodriguez and that's why fail is still going for it he's taking risks but he's going for big shots
06:07he's got to watch the head clashes of course a little bit of a mark above

06:26you see Rodriguez just urging fail to come forward because he knows he's got no chance at range he's
06:31just being picked off the only chance he's got is if he draws Benfail in and then it's a toe-to-toe
06:39battle and he can land the odd shot and he's just going to hope that he lands a real big punch here
06:45blood from the nose of fail shouldn't be too much of a problem the real problem is that Rodriguez
06:51knows his job doesn't he Richie and now he seems finally to
06:55sorted himself out of the shock of touching down and taking the count
07:02he's weathered the storm hasn't he at one point I didn't think he'd recovered but
07:05now he seems to have got through it and I think fail for how tall he is he works very well with
07:13his left uppercut on the inside Paul it's a little short punch you don't see it that's lovely there
07:18with that jab there's that little left uppercut again on the inside and he's done the trick there
07:24fail throws it on again but needs to be very careful on the inside what a round what a round that was

07:50with some action before that where he got caught he actually caught fair with a good shot there
07:55but walks on to that short little left hand there that was a cracking punch indeed from fail

08:05realizes that his opponent may have not recovered right up to the body there that was a good shot
08:11indeed but Rodriguez is still in it
08:31two rounds back and forth Rodriguez has touched down I guess we could venture to suggest that
08:37in front but nobody's jumping to conclusions in this one just got to get back to his boxing a
08:43little bit Paul here behind that jab and just set things up so I think like you said Rodriguez is in
08:50the battle when it comes toe to toe and then it becomes sort of a 50-50 affair and fair play to
08:55fail he's landed the better shots on the inside but you're just giving your opponent a chance to
09:00land the odd shot so take less risks work behind the jab first and then set up that left uppercut
09:06and left up like the corner wanted just that's better look there you go working with the jab
09:13and then bringing the left uppercut through the middle that's sensible boxing that's what I'd
09:17like to see a little bit more of am I allowed to say though that I love his fighters mentality
09:26but it's an exciting contest isn't it one or two have gone a bit low there but
09:31that's what I like Paul setting up things with the jab and there you go bringing that left uppercut
09:41through like we spoke about brilliant Rodriguez took some big shots continues to take the big
09:47shots try to walk through the storm he's nearly gone Rodriguez here he just needs another good
09:52shot on him what a brave guy though he's literally said to fail well come on then let's go
09:59toe-to-toe stuff hell might just be feeling just the pace a little bit don't blame him

14:44again fair play to rodriguez he's obviously sensed that ben fail just slowed down a little bit
14:50and he's caught fair with a couple of good shots there the lesson to be learned from fail there
14:54got to keep working with the jab but it's also his ring craft got to stay out of those corners
14:59stay off the ropes stay central position and then you've got full range of movement
15:05as soon as you go on those ropes in the corner your feet come square then you become
15:09you know you your movement's restricted and your target's full onto the opponent so
15:13that's where he does his best boxing from that center
15:20not so many explosive moments in this as we head toward halfway four rounds now complete but an

16:45comes round um onto that shot yes the phrase that martin bowers actually used well i think

16:59rodriguez in bursts in that last round still looks more than lively and more than dangerous
17:08very dangerous it's very dangerous if you know you lose concentration
17:12and then you start boxing it short and mid-range and holding your feet and then he's brought right
17:16into it it's a 50 50 affair then and fair play to rodriguez in that last round i think he like i
17:22said he sensed that the work rate had just dropped from fail and he stepped it up so yeah fails in a
17:29hard fight here and he's got to stay disciplined listen to that corner it's a classic case paul
17:34you could make this quite easy for yourself or you could make it very very difficult if you get it wrong
17:53cannot get out of the way of that jab rodriguez outreached and if you keep popping that jab like
17:59that paul hitting the target at some point rodriguez is going to think right i'm being
18:03boxy i've got to go forward oh look there you go right on cue he knows that he's got to come
18:07forward you see if he keeps being out being picked off with that jab so it's just basic boxing
18:16positive mindset and just keep the work going confident in your long range work
18:20and the opponent will come to you then you can bring him onto your better shots which is the
18:24backhand but it's all set up with the lead hand frustrating the opponent and making him come at
18:30situations like this one left hook up maybe to the middle then you move again
18:34and go back to distance and you start the process all over again

18:51i think he likes the boxing version of ben fail that we're seeing just at this moment
19:04and this is why it's important for also for that movement to be circular going around the opponent
19:10rather than going back because if rodriguez senses that he's slowing things down and getting picked
19:15off that's a lovely shot what he'll try and do is push him back to the ropes and if you go back in
19:19straight lines then you encourage him to come forward and it's a different contest
19:23keep the movement going don't concede go around him
19:49of the ring
19:58i have the sense richie that they're feeling a bit more assured than they were after the first
20:03and second rounds yeah they know the tactics and they know exactly what to do
20:10when you come out
20:17interesting what he said there as well about at the end of the round just get back to the
20:21center of the ring because he pulls on strong don't push it back to the ropes basically
20:31so over to omar rodriguez we have the sense that he's falling behind in terms of the scoring and
20:37sure enough he comes out at the start of this sixth round to try to rectify matters
20:43yeah fair play to him he's having a go again this is when you've got to
20:46just step off and with the jab get back to the center see rodriguez has loved this
20:54fail taps the gloves together as if to say to himself i need to get going a bit here

21:07it's interesting therefore the mindset of fail he's going to listen to the corner he's just
21:11going to take things on these on his own thing right i can beat this fella short and mid-range
21:16and have a battle with him that's a big risk you may still fancy his chances there because he
21:21punches with a lot of quality does fail but like i say you are taking risks and you're bringing
21:26your opponent into it and the state disciplined here look simple shots like that lovely just a
21:32straight jab and then move not thrown a lot though has he reached in this round fail rodriguez
21:39has found the target almost at will not saying they're all power shots but it is a slight
21:45momentum shift in this round and remember fail now entering relatively uncharted
21:52waters in terms of the distance in this fight
21:56yeah this is a fairly good round for rodriguez you've got to give him credit
22:01the job's made easy for him when fail's actually taking him on toe-to-toe
22:07but nevertheless rodriguez started the round strongly and he's continuing that almost as
22:13though in the rodriguez corner they said listen this is beyond where fail has been before remind
22:18him right from the get-go in this round showing that the hardest rounds are still ahead
22:23this has been a hard round so far decent shot there from fail that left to the pit of the body
22:29that wasn't a bad shot at all and again rodriguez rodriguez just throwing isn't he on the inside
22:37anything and if the opponent's there holding his feet and then he's in business
22:48so fail's fans are urging him to rally late in this round
22:55just keep the punches straight and that's what he's got to do here straight shots and the odd
22:59left uppercut occasionally he's decided to take him on here and rodriguez we've said had a fairly
23:06decent round but i think um he's weathered it now has failed but it's been a decent round for
23:12rodriguez
23:23volume of shots output of shots clearly rodriguez in this round

23:46i cannot believe paul he's not sitting down i just find that incredible

24:02proper heart like this both ways yeah i thought this was a decent round for rodriguez
24:08he started the round pretty strong i thought fail really got to go towards the end of the
24:14round but nevertheless i thought rodriguez volume of punches was better from him and he
24:19dragged ben failing to that toe-to-toe battle the hardest part of this may still be ahead remember
24:29over eight rounds before tonight ben failed
24:34sixth round rodriguez certainly put fail under pressure mentally now richie perhaps the testing
24:43part of this fight for fail yes it is a test physically and mentally but i think now i'd
24:49like to see ben fail get back to his boxing listen to his corner a little bit he made
24:53it things a little bit difficult in that last round because he held his feet and decided to
24:57trade and rodriguez had the better of it for my money so we know ben can box better than that
25:04mid and long and that's what he's got to get back to most certainly i think yeah that's better
25:18i don't think he's been to into the seventh round paul as you know he hasn't no you're quite right
25:28i've certainly never been in a fight like this richie one way or the other no
25:33that's it yeah and he's just working with that jab but you should expect
25:36rodriguez just to fly forward at some some stage
25:42you just keep working with the jab and wait for that attack and then adjust your feet and then
25:46bring him on to the the backhand there you go look see you know he's going to come forward
25:52at some stage if he just gets keeps getting hit with that jab and that's what you have to do in
25:58these situations rodriguez gave a little bit of ground there was a nice shot to the body yeah from fail
26:11the box on the outside for the first two minutes
26:15or just about that in this round threatening to come to closer quarters again now
26:21he's a fairly deceiving fighter though i would say rodriguez paul sometimes he looks out on his
26:27feet and yet he just comes back and he puts a little spurt together and you think where's
26:31where's that energy come from he finds it from somewhere so all credit to him at times he's
26:37looked sometimes he looks out on his feet but then he just regains and the energy levels come back and
26:44away he goes again so fair play to him seasoned
26:51knowing pro in every sense there's a little bit of a nick to his left eye
26:56shouldn't be a problem for rodriguez but that's a target that fair will hope to exploit
27:01maybe put a bit of doubt into the mind of somebody who's been around for a long time
27:05and has fought a very good fight on his own terms so far tonight rodriguez yeah that was a belting
27:09shot there from fail to slip to his right and then through that left hand right down the middle
27:16probably the best shot of the round to be quite honest

27:25they're trying to shade it with the big exchange to the end of the round
27:28family's enjoying this but maybe enjoying it a bit too much if you know what i mean

28:16we've been saying it for a while now but this you know you the opponent's going to come like a steam
28:20train now so it's important stay that center of the ring keep the punches long and straight and
28:25use the job referee baits brings them together seven hard rounds have gone by we have reached
28:34the final round that didn't look likely after two rounds i must say failing patches boxing
28:39extremely well but all too often drawn into a scrap sometimes when it comes to close quarters
28:45he prevailed other times rodriguez has come out on top and all together martin bowers would prefer
28:52him to get up grab the center of the ring rich and box around his man for the next two and a
28:56half minutes little sidesteps and plenty of movement and keep the punches nice and straight
29:02and if he does come forward he comes over that front foot use the odd left uppercut and they
29:06should move you see but when you feel you're back on the ropes when you're much taller fight just
29:10move straight away shoot off to the side and then get back to the center of the ring and start the
29:16process again but it's important with the jab the movement here little sidesteps up on his toes
29:24give no indication that you're struggling in terms of i don't think he's struggling actually
29:28in terms of the pace of the contest but don't give your opponent anything don't give him a
29:34whiff that you might be tiring at all just keep that movement going with that job that's better
29:39has rodriguez got one big last assault in him tonight
29:52it's possible yeah he's a dangerous kid isn't he
29:56when he's up close then he lets everything go and just goes for it fair play to him
30:03and they've got a good chin as well paul because fail has hit him with some real good punches
30:07hurt him downstairs a couple of times but look at him here and this is where he's got to move now
30:11fail in his own corner they want him out of there fail claims his man you heard martin
30:19barrett saying that corner you can make it easy for yourself or you make it hard
30:23like we spoke about earlier it's a move keep the punches straight
30:37we've seen enough to know that there could yet be a twist in this tail
30:45it's not a done deal for ben fail rodriguez seeking to keep pouring on the pressure
30:55that's nice little bit of composure now with that jab that straight left hand
30:58and rodriguez is going to come forward
31:05in a hard eight round of four i'll say in a tough eight round contest this has
31:18last few seconds then toe to toe to the very finish
31:25taking a lot of risk ben fail has got to hope he gets a reward for all that with the way he's
31:30fought in this one omar rodriguez more than played his part rodriguez thinks he's won it
31:35martin barrett goes to embrace rodriguez for a fine showing from the opponent but has young
31:42mr fail got it done or has he taken a few too many risks the way he's tried to do it
31:49incredible last round and incredible last 20 seconds wasn't it ben fail entertainment right
31:55the way through and um decided to really stand toe to toe and try and finish the contest really
32:00strong but that brought rodriguez into it so i think um he was in it all the way wasn't he
32:07rodriguez as soon as fail decided to stand and trade then rodriguez had success here and there
32:13fail himself thought when he boxed behind his jab and the long straight work that he did
32:17yeah excellent stuff i thought he hurt rodriguez a couple of times downstairs also but he was
32:21caught with some big punches himself throughout this contest and this the last sort of 20 seconds
32:29or so was really thoroughly entertainment but it's a 50 50 affair it's who can land the shot
32:35there fail lands a good one and again and probably just had the better of it at this exchange here
32:42but thoroughly entertaining right the way through and for someone who hasn't gone eight rounds
32:45before ben fail will have learned a lot from that paul that was unbelievable here's dev sani with
