00:00Hi, my name is Rowan Drake. I'm opening up for X Ambassadors with New West on the U.S.

00:15tour, and this is my band. This is Mae, my tour manager, and this is Juno, my photographer.

00:23And Mae, maybe you could explain the music situation in the car.

00:26Well, we are aligned on our music taste, quite heavily, so we kind of run this shit.

00:35And he has headphones. The entire time. Yes, because Rowan only listens to music from like 1980.

00:41And Mae handles pretty much most of the driving. I really just listen to my music and stare

00:46out of the window for hours on end, and Juno, you know, looks somber in the front of the van.

00:52Juno is our biotech on the tour. Yeah, I don't know, Juno, any fun things to share about the car?

00:58Oh man, up in the front, there really isn't a whole lot to say. A lot less garbage than usual.

01:04Yeah, we cleaned it before you came. This is our tour pet, and his name is Max. This is Max.

01:09I don't know if anyone's seen Kiki's Delivery Service. His name is Gigi. His real name is Gigi,

01:14but this is Max. The thing about the playlist is we all put music on it, but every time

01:20Rowan's songs come on the playlist, we do skip them. They don't like Jeff Buckley, they don't like

01:26Adrian Lenker, they don't like Radiohead, but... No, I like this music in a certain environment.

01:34You should tell them the song that's probably the most played in the car. Oh yes, our tour anthem is

01:39Espresso by Sabrina Carpenter, specifically. It's true. It sets the mood. I have been subjecting

01:45everybody to like eight rounds of Billie Eilish's new album per drive. It's just been a repeat.

01:51I love round nine. And then I have Nebraska, Bruce Springsteen going in, or some Tim Buckley,

01:58but it's a good time. Yeah, the only rules are Rowan's songs get skipped unless he has his headphones out.

02:06If he has his headphones out, we let them play. It's true. But he's usually in his own.

02:12Mae doesn't really like the trash that I leave in the car occasionally, which is mostly just banana peels.

02:17It's really just banana peels. It's horrible. Q-tips are a thing I guess. I think used Q-tips are like

02:23a standard that everybody should have. It's not disgusting. You know Diddley used Q-tips right about here.

02:30It wasn't from my ears. And yeah, many banana peels have sat on that floor. There's a lot of crumbs back there.

02:36I mean, right now it's pretty clean. We got a Diet Coke. Yeah, no trash. We cleaned up for you.

03:16But today I have Chex Mix. I'm trying to think. We were looking for this and we just found it.

03:24So they will be surprised to hear that. But we almost bought a new one of these.

03:28Right here, it's truthfully Cheez-It crumbs. I'm a connoisseur, actually.

03:33This is not staged and placed here at all. I actually do love to read this book.

03:38But it just happened to be sitting there.

03:42I don't even know. What do we got going back here?

03:46Peppermint tea. We have some granola. I don't know what that is. That looks mysterious.

03:52Don't worry about that one.

03:55This is a Gummy Bear New West. New West, the other band, set about a hundred of these in my green room the other day.

04:02So we're taking one captive to remember to put revenge onto them soon.

04:08There's that.

04:11I have a little gift bag a fan made me with my name and I keep my books inside of it in my journal.

04:16I have some Nietzsche. I don't know what this is. It's like Russian poetry.

04:21And then this is just all the excess clothing from thrift hauls and things like that.

04:29You know, nothing too crazy back here.

04:32I have one but it's like living inside of a cooler because it reeks of cigarette smoke.

04:37Which we can show you. It's in the bag.

04:40I'm pretty happy with these jeans. They're Signature Levi's. They were $7. They fit great.

04:47So I would say that's my favorite find of the tour.

04:51I don't really want this to be known because I'm a purist to my Cheez-Its.

04:56We stole those from New West Sniders.

04:59These are disgusting. These right here are gluten-free which we have a culprit in the car.

05:05That's Juno's Bunny.

05:07This one right here. But I don't really know what these are. They're kind of like off-brand goldfish.

05:12And then I don't really support them so I'm going to put that right in the back there.

05:16But I stay true to my Cheez-Its.

05:19Honestly, I stare out of the window. I listen to my music and I try to just stay out of their way.

05:27It's a pretty simple expedition. I don't know. I don't really write too much in the car.

05:32They both have severe car sickness if they try to do anything outside of driving.

05:36So that's on them. But yeah, that's about it.

05:40This is a full state-of-the-art stock kitchen.

05:44Blender, frying pan, rice cooker that I use every single day.

05:49I use it every single morning. Every morning.

05:52We have a rice cooker. We have a hot water heater.

05:56It's everything one could need.

05:58All my vocal supplies and remedies. Gotta have the throat coat tea.

06:02These things right here are like a secret weapon. The Gerther Pastels.

06:06Always eating those.

06:09Normally it's full of guitars and stuff right now.

06:12I have my one baby, but this is just a nice old Granchef skin.

06:19And yeah, that's kind of what we got going on in the back.

06:23I guess if you want to see Mae's, Mae might be able to show up better than I can.

06:27It's a really simple bag.

06:29Oh, well, inside of that cooler is a cigarette-smelling thrift find.

06:35It's like a matching green three-piece suit.

06:38It's a three-piece leather set.

06:40It's a three-piece leather set, I'm being told to tell you.

06:42Yeah, Mae is a master packer, so she packs the entire bag.

06:46It goes out to right about here.

06:48If we don't pack it right, the guitars go flying, the coolers go flying,

06:52and I don't really want that to happen.

06:54Yeah, we pack it quite tight.
