02:49sunset cruise are you ready to shut off the noise of life and get back to
02:58adventure on Florida's nature coast it's a gorgeous sunrise in Homosassa
03:11Springs where my Airbnb is at ironically owned by subscribers of ours Sue and
03:17Don who were great hosts it's a smaller room but really worked out great for me
03:22and it's only two miles from Homosassa Wildlife Park and four miles from PT
03:27Airboats Crumps Landing in River Venture snorkeling with manatees tour
03:31that will show later in the video while Florida's nature coast extends to three
03:36counties above Cedar Key really the majority of things to do are in the
03:40hundred miles from Cedar Key to Anclote Key located in Pasco County which you
03:45can only access by boat this is where the Sun Coast ends and the Nature Coast
03:50begins we showed Anclote Key in our Tarpon Springs video we moved 20 miles
03:55up us-19 to Hudson Florida where the brand-new Lift Adventure Park is at one
04:00of only three cable wakeboarding parks on Florida's west coast it is $32 for two
04:07hours and offers a slow ride for beginners from 12 to 2 p.m. there is
04:13also the Aqua Park Florida's largest inflatable water playground and Aqua
04:19Chimp a floating jungle ropes course Lift Adventure Park is surrounded by
04:24Sunwest Beach Park with public swimming volleyball courts concessions and kayak
04:29and paddleboard rentals
04:33they're performing in the first 20 to 40 feet of the head spring now this spring
04:39is the entrance to the deepest cave system here in Florida and close to 400
04:44feet deep we move another 10 miles up us-19 from Pasco County to Hernando
04:49County where Weekee Wachee Springs State Park is located at famous for the
04:54mermaids this is really a great value only $13 for adults $8 for children 6 to
05:0712 it includes a boat tour a water park as well as the mermaid show you can also
05:13rent paddleboards and kayaks $35 single $51 double for two hours there is an app
05:20called friends of Weekee Wachee that is really helpful gives you showtimes a map
05:24and lots of good info if planning a visit I recommend to do the boat ride
05:29first also with the mermaid show you want to get to the undersea theater
05:47about 30 minutes before showtime as this is very popular and there's the
05:52buccaneer water park with a cafe two water slides a pool and a lazy river
06:00over the springs the tubes are $10 extra for the lazy River this will be the best
06:05$13 you'll spend in Florida there's also a pretty decent Motel 6 across the
06:16street for lodging we now move another 20 miles north to the Homosassa River
06:23where there's boat tours snorkeling a wildlife park and tiki bars on the south
06:28side of the river is the pet-friendly Florida cracker resorts monkey bar with
06:33a southern vibe a lively dockside eatery with an elevated bar overlooking the
06:38river and a patio overlooking Monkey Island the resort has studio one and two
06:46bedroom villas and pontoon boats you can rent as well next to the Florida cracker
06:53resort is McCrae's of Homosassa with another Riverside eatery the shed bar
06:58and grill here there's fishing charters boat rentals and tours as well as the
07:03McCrae's of Homosassa motel with standard rooms and kitchenettes available
07:09next door is Shelly's seafood and fish market for locally caught fish and crabs
07:14and another popular eatery just a half mile from the Florida cracker resort is
07:19the freezer tiki bar some locals will tell you it's the best seafood in the
07:23area and the menu is very inexpensive but they only take cash they're seating
07:29right on the marina I'm enjoying a smoked salmon fillet clam chowder and
07:33coleslaw it was only about $15 now let's do the most popular activity on the
07:39nature coast swimming with manatees there are many options I chose to do it
07:44with a company called snorkeling with manatees you check in at the docks
07:48behind the Florida cracker resort they also have a Crystal River location they
07:52call swimming with manatees info at snorkel with manatees calm in Homosassa
07:58they call it snorkeling with manatees it's the same thing just different names
08:03the Homosassa River tends to be more laid-back less crowded and here they go
08:08to the area just outside the Wildlife Park manatee season is from mid-November
08:13to the end of March this is when you'll find many manatees who migrate here to
08:17the warmer spring waters however there are resident manatees year-round I did
08:23this in mid-April and still solve seven or eight manatees generally the colder
08:27the temperatures the more manatees you'll see so it's good to do it early
08:31in the morning it is $70 for a three-hour public tour or $4.20 for a
08:37private tour for up to six people it gives you a good two hours plus of
08:41snorkeling time in colder season they'll provide hot chocolate in warmer months
08:47you might find ice cream vendors on the river all right let's head to the other
08:51side of the river to P.T. Airboat Adventures
08:59they are located at Crump's Landing this is a huge pirate themed bar and
09:04restaurant with a playground
09:09an open-air seating under a shelter or tables right on the boardwalk under a
09:14huge oak tree as well as on the beach without ironic chairs I'm having some
09:20gator bites it makes a good place to eat for before or after your airboat
09:24ride
09:34while there are several airboat rides in the Crystal River area I like P.T.
09:38Airboat Adventures for one they start the tour out taking you around Monkey
09:42Island this is an island of three spider monkeys Emily Ebony and Ralph who just
09:48recently returned to this island while it was being renovated they now have air
09:56conditioning and heat in their new home as well as a revamped playground and a
10:00barrier that was built around the island to keep the public out so the best way
10:04to see them is by boat the local businesses take care of and feed the
10:11monkeys okay enough monkeying around let's head out to the Gulf
10:19P.T. Airboat Adventures have an hour tour for $62 or 90-minute eco thrill ride for
10:25$82 really I'd recommend doing the 90-minute tour it's only another $20 and
10:31it's worth it
10:42just the ride itself is exhilarating as you glide through the wetlands and
10:47preserves seeing lots of wildlife along the way
11:05this 90-minute tour gives you more time out in the Gulf it allows us to stop
11:11slow down and explore under the sea the waters are crystal clear you can see
11:20sponges like what we showed in our Tarpon Springs video there's underwater
11:26caves
11:34and dolphins I've done airboat rides in the Everglades in Orlando
11:41and I'd have to say this is even better I think a must-do for your nature coast
11:46getaway so we snorkel just outside the Ellie Schiller Wildlife Park on the
11:57Homasasa River now let's bring you inside the park this is also very
12:03reasonable $13 for adults $5 for children 6 to 12 well worth it
12:08considering the amount of animals mammals and birds that are here maybe
12:17the most popular animal here is Lou the hippo who has his own Facebook page
12:21there are long boardwalks that go over and around the springs I'd recommend
12:26coming here in the morning on a sunny day the water is impressive in the 1920s
12:35and 30s the Ocala Dunellan Railway came all the way to these springs so that
12:39passengers could view the hundreds of fresh and saltwater fish there's an
12:44underwater observatory here but a little cloudy not as good as snorkeling in the
12:49springs among the birds are barn owls great horned owls osprey ducks
12:57flamingos great white herons a red-tailed hawk crested Cara Cara and
13:09even a bald eagle this is also a manatee rehabilitation center you can watch them
13:19feed the manatees manatees can spend up to eight hours a day grazing on
13:24seagrasses and other aquatic plants mangrove leaves and there's also a little
13:29cafe within the park no it's better to enter the park at the entrance on West
13:34Fishbowl Drive not us-19 otherwise you have to take a tram or a long walk to
13:40the wildlife park
13:50so you notice for much of the nature coast there's not really much of a
13:54linear coastline here but it's made up of a bunch of undisturbed islands and
13:58preserves which allow for lots of wildlife and some of the best fishing in
14:02Florida this is Osello that is located between
14:05Homosassa Springs in Crystal River the Osello Trail winds through these
14:11wetlands for over nine miles this is old Florida before there were theme parks
14:15and crowded beaches it's a naturalist paradise as the Osello Trail will take
14:21you deep into the marshes and mangroves of the nature coast near the end there's
14:28Peck's Old Pork Cove for crab shrimp and oysters a nice waterfront dining area
14:33overlooking the water Peck's has a pretty good menu of fresh seafood I'm
14:38trying the Peck's platter where you get your choice of three seafood items I
14:42chose catfish fish and scallops great service and a great view while getting
14:47some editing done we cross over the Osello Causeway great for fishing
14:53there's some vacation rentals here you can book on Verbo for boaters the Osello
14:58Trail ends at the Osello Park boat ramp which will get boaters pretty close to
15:03the Gulf of Mexico another road that will take you all the way out to the
15:11Gulf is the Four Island Trail about halfway out from us-19 is the Salt River
15:17it is here you'll find hang em high sport fishing which has fishing and
15:21wildlife escapes there's also blown away airboats and shrimp landing seafood with
15:27a food truck for something quick a good stop on your way out to Four Island
15:31Beach a look at the Crystal River leading out to the Gulf at the far west
15:36end of the Crystal River is Four Island Beach it features a natural shoreline and
15:41white sandy beachfront area and because it is a very gentle slope into the warm
15:46waters of the Gulf makes it good for swimming
15:50fiddler crabs live along the sides of the beach in the grassy areas there's
15:54also a boat ramp here that will let you out right on the Gulf this fishing pier
15:59was damaged during hurricanes of 2023 and no award at this time when it will
16:04be rebuilt on the other end of the Crystal River on Kings Bay is the
16:13Plantation Resort with luxury lodging including golf villas for extended
16:18stays you can book at booking.com there is an 18-hole traditional golf course
16:23here and abundant water sports with the Adventure Center as well as boat
16:29rentals they also have manatee and scalloping tours and the sightseeing
16:33cruise and they also have kayak and paddleboard rentals it's about a mile by
16:42kayak to Three Sisters Springs from here there are also two main parks for
16:46launching a kayak to Three Sisters first Hunter Springs Park it is also about a
16:51mile from Three Sisters has a nice beach area with a natural spring about a
16:56hundred feet offshore at the park there's picnic pavilions restroom
17:00facilities a nice little boardwalk area parking is a dollar an hour or $5 all
17:05day dogs are not allowed in any of the city parks in Crystal River then a little
17:10further away by foot from Three Sisters but about the same distance by kayak is
17:15Kings Bay Park this is where we will launch from as we are renting a kayak
17:19with paddles outdoor adventure because there are pet friendly with paddles you
17:24check in at their building which is about three-quarters of a mile from the
17:28park you can either park at the building for free and either walk or take a
17:31shuttle to the park or drive to the park and pay the $5 a day for parking at
17:37Kings Bay Park the staff at paddles will set you up with a kayak and help you
17:41launch into the bay to get to Three Sisters Springs you paddle around Peacht's
17:46Pier Marina where there's a bait and tackle shop as well as go local amenity
17:50tours is located here after Peacht's Pier you bear to the left into a waterway go
17:58under a bridge and it's about another four-tenths of a mile to the entrance of
18:03Three Sisters it is $40 for a single kayak $50 for a tandem and $45 for a
18:09paddleboard for two hours $10 more for three hours it takes about 30 minutes to
18:15get to the entrance of the springs so two to three hours is good
18:23my rocky top dog looking for those large floating baked potatoes for they don't
18:29have manatees in Tennessee we enter the springs no motorized boats allowed in
18:38you can also visit Three Sisters Springs refuge by foot and walk the boardwalk
18:43around it which is $20 for adults $7.50 for children during manatee season or it
18:49is $12.50 for adults and still $7.50 for children from April to mid-November
18:54there's no parking at Three Sisters and you can't access the springs from the
18:59refuge the only way to swim in the springs is to enter it by paddle craft
19:04from April to mid-November but kayaks are not allowed inside from in November
19:09to end of March simply because there's so many manatees during that time they
19:14don't want to endanger them one thing I recommend is to bring a waterproof bag
19:19to keep clothing towels electronics in this one is a backpack by ESO it's 50
19:24liters a good size and it's floatable comes with two smaller pockets that you
19:29can keep your wallet and phone in I put a link in the description below some of
19:34the boat tours in Crystal River as well as snorkeling with manatees we showed
19:38earlier our Crystal River manatee adventures explore it a fun to dive
19:46waterfront adventures and river ventures we are going a couple miles north of
19:52Kings Bay to Crystal River water sports
19:58they are located right next to a dog-friendly Days Inn so very convenient
20:03to keep your dog in while you have fun on the water first we are going to do a
20:07cat boat tour the cat boat is great because you sit very low to the water
20:11and allows you to get very close to the wildlife we cruise down a canal around
20:16the Crystal River Preserve State Park there's a double-crested cormorant
20:22there's blades the gator oh don't worry he's friendly he knows Captain Sandy
20:28here a white ibis which is the mascot of the Miami Hurricanes because these birds
20:33alert people when a hurricane is approaching okay it's time to pick up
20:37some speed
20:42the cat boat is kind of like a jet ski that you can lay back in or a go-kart on
20:51water it is $125 for an hour and 15 minutes or $250 for two and a half hours
21:00then we'll show you how to drive Crystal River water sports also has a manatee
21:07tour $85 per person or $450 for up to six guests and a sunset cruise that is
21:13$70 for the first passenger $55 for additional passengers you explore the
21:19Crystal River Indian River in Kings Bay this is the Port Hotel where the Elvis
21:24Presley movie follow that dream was filmed it is a pet-friendly hotel for a
21:29pet fee of $20 per night you can book on Expedia at the motel is the waterfront
21:34social with a menu of southern coastal dishes this home here was built by John
21:39Travolta for his son jet who sadly passed away before it was finished just
21:45across from Pete's Pier Marina is Christmas Island it's the only island in
21:49Crystal River with a house on it it was sold in 2022 for 1.1 million on the
21:55northern end of Kings Bay are several waterfront eateries first there's the
21:59crab plant popular with the locals dishes are about $20 to $30 per person
22:05across the waterway is the tipsy tarpon with a sandy tiki beach area right on
22:11the water as well as an open-air sheltered area across the way is the
22:21dockside ice cream shop with a nice little elevated deck overlooking the Bay
22:25this is near the downtown district you might say the Main Street of Crystal
22:30River North Citrus Avenue and next to that crackers bar and grill with both
22:36the indoor dining and casual outdoor dining on a large deck a tiki bar on the
22:41water with live music and a nice little boardwalk area with benches also want to
22:52mention this good Thai restaurant typhoon good food reasonable rates
23:05we now move 15 miles northeast of Crystal River to Dunellon not to be
23:10confused with Dunedin although it's slightly inland in Marion County it is
23:14considered part of the nature coast by the way we'll be showing more of Marion
23:18County in our Ocala Gainesville video but I want to do that later in the year
23:23during football season as there's a football team that plays in a swamp that
23:27we want to show then Ellen was a pretty major railroad town in the late 1800s
23:34early 1900s the Atlantic coastline carried produce timber phosphate and
23:39passengers from Richmond Virginia all the way down to just south of Tampa
23:43located at the confluence of the with Lacoche and Rainbow River Dunellon is a
23:48paradise for tubing kayaking and fishing we entered an Ellen crossing over the
23:53with Lacoche River this is where a popular pet-friendly dockside eatery is
23:57at the blue gator a casual tiki bar friendly service southern style seafood
24:03with river views and live entertainment I'm having clam strips with sweet
24:08potato fries and hush puppies ran into Janet Lee and Rick visiting from Utah
24:12also here is Captain Bob's airboat tours who has pontoons and John boats
24:17that are pet friendly you can rent anywhere from $85 to $200 for a half day
24:22and there's the anglers resort motel
24:28we now head to one of America's largest natural Springs to the head Springs of
24:34Rainbow Springs State Park there are no parking fees here and a very reasonable
24:39$2 to enter the park children 5 and under are free that is amazingly
24:44inexpensive for what this park offers the best $2 you'll spend in Florida and
24:49it's also pet friendly although dogs are not allowed in the Springs there are
24:57several trails but the most scenic is the Rainbow Springs Trail a 2.3 mile
25:01hike that includes waterfalls and there's canoe and kayak rentals $19 an
25:09hour for single and paddle boards and $26 an hour for tandem and canoes
25:16welcome to the nature coast we go about a mile and a half down the river to KP
25:33Hole Park this is where our kayak tour will start and it's also where you can
25:37do your own tour with a shuttle ride back to the park through Rainbow River
25:41kayak adventures the trip takes about two to three hours dogs are allowed on
25:46the kayak but not allowed in the park it is $7 to park here and the shuttle cost
25:52ranges from $20 to $25 I put a link below for info for tubing you go on the
25:58other side of the river and it is $26 for the tube and tram ticket it's a four
26:03mile trip down the river and takes about three to four hours by two I did this
26:10clear kayak tour that is done by get up and go kayaking although I booked it
26:15through Airbnb found it through the bring Fido website it's $69 for adults
26:21and $50 for children 11 and under Bailey got to meet Neera here from Massachusetts
26:28our guides Brian and Sarah were excellent they give you lots of
26:32interesting facts about the region you start paddling upstream and along the
26:37way make a few stops where you can take a nature walk or a quick swim
26:46just gorgeous scenery crystal-clear waters
26:56and you might see turtles fish otters and a variety of birds the second half
27:03of the tour is a relaxing float down the river back to KP Hall Park
27:21we had seven miles south of Rainbow Springs to one of the longest bike trails
27:26in Florida the with Likucy trail this trail starts in Donella and is a 47 mile
27:32paved multi-use trail it travels across rivers forests railroad history and
27:38small-town charm one of the nicer parts is through the town of Inverness 70
27:44miles south of Donella as the trail goes through the Depot District with a new
27:49park area that has regular festivals farmers markets and other public events
27:56if you are looking to move to Florida you might want to check out Inverness we
28:02end the day at Donnellan's most popular bar and grill Swampy's where I met
28:06subscribers Renee and Tom who live in Donnellan Swampy's has a nice deck
28:12overlooking the Rainbow River where during the day you'll see tubers and
28:15kayakers floating by all right let's head back to near the coast as we go to
28:23the massive metropolis of Chiefland Florida actually this is getting into
28:28the very rural Big Bend area of Florida in Levy County 45 miles north of Crystal
28:34River on the banks of the historic Suwannee River is Manatee Springs State
28:39Park this park features an 800 foot boardwalk through a majestic cypress
28:44forest
28:49manatees can be seen in cooler months with other mammals and birds year-round
28:54a colorful Springs to swim in
29:06there's eight and a half miles of trails camping boating and bicycling I must
29:12apologize to our RV viewers the nature coast has some great campgrounds and I
29:17failed to show them I will do better next time there was just so much to
29:22cover but I urge you to check them out for the nature coast has some great
29:27campgrounds maybe those familiar with these you can mention them in the
29:32comments below
29:38about 20 minutes north of Manatee State Park is a Suwannee Bell Landing perhaps
29:43one of the best Riverside eateries in the Big Bend area overlooking the Suwannee
29:48River and just north of that I'm gonna ride my bike on the old town road gonna
29:54ride till I can't no more actually it's the nature coast trail in Old Town
30:01Florida this is a 31 mile trail built along the abandoned Atlantic Coast
30:06Railroad that we mentioned earlier it crosses the historic Suwannee River
30:10Railroad Bridge this a red steel span was built in early 1900s to shuttle
30:16people across one of the largest rivers in Florida steamboats would pass
30:20underneath today you'll find recreational watercrafts like
30:24Waverunners passing underneath all right now to our final destination Cedar Key
30:34with Cedar Key there's one road in and one road out old Florida Highway 24 this
30:40might be the best place in Florida for fishing offering inshore nearshore and
30:44offshore locations this is the number four bridge fishing pier also a good
30:49vantage point to view shorebirds and water birds and to launch boats kayaks
30:54and paddleboards and nearby the low-key hideaway resort motel with Lenny's Tiki
30:59Tour food truck in an RV campground right on the water it doesn't get more
31:06old Florida than this it's as if time stood still from the early to mid
31:111900s but yet you do have some modern conveniences so makes it ideal for a
31:16getaway situated in the heart of the Big Bend region of Florida's nature coast
31:21Cedar Key has a rustic small-town feel and it's very dog-friendly there's many
31:27festivals throughout the year including a tropical rock and reggae Tiki Fest at
31:31the end of April the Seafood Festival in October and a pirate invasion in
31:37November there's many vacation rentals you'll find on verbal and really very
31:42reasonably priced compared to other waterside destinations in Florida this
31:47is Island Place at Cedar Key while it is referred to as Cedar Key really should
31:52be Cedar Keys plural as it is made up of a cluster of islands mostly undisturbed
31:58the street names indicative of the simplicity of the town alphabet lettered
32:03streets run north to south and numbered streets run east to west with the
32:08exception of its most popular road Dock Street where the center of the activity
32:12is at parking on the island is free but locating a spot might be difficult
32:17during event days there's a large fishing pier that is free to walk on
32:21anglers might catch redfish tarpon ladyfish black drum and snook during
32:27winter and king mackerel during summer on Dock Street is steamers a nautical
32:32themed eatery known for fish and classic American plates with a full bar
32:36and deck on the water there's Liam and Maddie's bar on the lower level and the
32:45tipsy cow bar and grill on the upper level deck overlooking the Gulf and Dock
32:49Street across the street the big deck bar and grill and back on the water side
33:01the 83 West 29 North restaurant we are going to take a sunset cruise with
33:12Tidewater boat tours you board the boat right here at least they did on this day
33:17on the inside boat ramp I show you that because their address will bring you on
33:22the other side of the parking lot on the Gulf side and they do have a sign there
33:26but it wasn't where you board the boat so don't want you to miss it this is a
33:31dog-friendly boat tour it is $40 per person they also have a Swanee River
33:37tour on Mondays for 75 to $100 that will show you a Manatee Springs Park that we
33:42just showed you by boat we start out viewing the main island from the Gulf
33:50and go around to the surrounding Keys be aware a way out in the undisturbed
34:02regions of the Gulf you might see dolphins
34:12the Seahorse Key lighthouse the oldest standing lighthouse on Florida's west
34:16coast built in 1854 just a gorgeous sunset on the water so the next time you
34:25are stressed out just picture the manatee chilled in the spring waters of
34:30Florida that could be you maybe a trip to the nature coast will help you shut
34:35off the noise of the world I think swimming with the manatees is something
34:39you should do at least once in your life the nature coast is laid back things are
34:43a little cheaper than you find in the Tampa Bay beaches or Miami and I find it
34:48to be very dog friendly I'd love to hear your thoughts what you've experienced on
34:52the nature coast we plan to come back and explore more of the Florida Springs
34:57in this area the nature and the horses as we want to do an Ocala and Gainesville
35:02video but probably during football season during a Gator game in the Swan
35:09so earlier we showed you st. Pete Beach and Clearwater Beach well next we're
35:14gonna show what is in between those beaches what most in Tampa Bay will tell
35:18you are better than st. Pete or Clearwater and that is Madeira Beach
35:22Treasure Island and Indian Rocks Beach we are Tampa Aerial Media we film travel
35:29videos across the USA for stock footage or if you'd like to hire us to film your
35:35city region or resort or vacation rental contact us at info at Tampa Aerial
35:40Media dot-com and if traveling with a dog I highly recommend these Kirkle dog
35:45backpacks it allows you to take your dog where you otherwise might not be able to
35:49also these underground footage was filmed with a GoPro 12 I was upset at
35:54GoPro 9 10 and 11 because you couldn't see what you were recording through the
35:59app once you press record but with GoPro 12 that brought that feature back so I
36:04put a link below also again I recommend this dry bag for kayaking or activities
36:09on the water when you use our links it helps me to pay for these videos from
36:15Florida's nature coast I wish blessings to you wherever you may be see you next
