00:00The drama surrounding It Ends With Us has been all over social media since the film
00:05came out on August 9. And now, an old interview is circulating that paints Blake Lively in
00:10a fairly unflattering light. While Lively and her co-star, Parker Posey, were promoting
00:152016's Cafe Society, they sat down with journalist Kirstie Flaa, who posted the entire exchange
00:21to YouTube, calling the clip,
00:23"...the Blake Lively interview that made me want to quit my job."
00:26Lively was newly pregnant during the interview, and Flaa congratulates the star on her little
00:30bump, at which point Lively responds,
00:33"...Congrats on your little bump."
00:36She and Posey go on to make jokes about bumps on their bodies, but it also gets a little
00:41weirder from there. Asked about the costumes in the film, Lively says,
00:45"...Everyone wants to talk about the clothes, but I wonder if they would ask the men about
00:48the clothes."
00:49Then, she and Posey go off on a tangent, without Flaa participating, about the overall design
00:54of the movie. It's definitely awkward.
00:57"...It's not just the women that have the clothes."
01:00As Flaa writes in the video's description,
01:02"...Is it not okay to congratulate someone on their pregnancy or to ask another woman
01:06about costumes she's wearing in a film?"
01:08Social media reactions to the interview are definitely mixed, with some fans defending
01:13the Gossip Girl star, while others are using it as evidence that she's behind the alleged
01:18It Ends With Us drama. One ex-user wrote,
01:20People defending Blake Lively here are wild. Her pregnancy at this point was announced.
01:25The full video is far worse than this clip, as Blake refuses to acknowledge the interviewer
01:29for most of the interview.
01:30"...Kirstie Flaa is better than me. I woulda cussed Blake out on camera."
01:35Another ex-user agreed, writing,
01:36"...The fact she mostly ignored Kirstie to have a conversation with her co-actress adds
01:40insult to injury."
01:42Not everyone thought Lively was at fault here, though. Another user posted a lengthy thread
01:47that began,
01:48Few things I hate more than clout chasers like Kirstie Flaa jumping on hate bandwagons
01:53when that's the trend of the week.
01:55Another user pointed out that Lively was correct about the double standard, posting,
01:59"...2016 was the height of women in Hollywood refusing to answer sexist and invasive questions
02:04such as comments on baby bumps, relationships, and costuming when those same questions were
02:08not asked of men."
02:10So why is everyone so laser-focused on Blake Lively's behavior during press tours, and
02:15what does it have to do with her latest film, It Ends With Us?
02:18Lively stars in the film as florist Lily Blossom Bloom, opposite Justin Baldoni, who both directed
02:23the film and played Lily's love interest, Ryle Kincaid. Unfortunately, Lily soon discovers
02:28that Ryle is abusive, echoing the relationship between her parents, and has to find a way
02:33to end the cycle of generational trauma and abuse, particularly when the two have a daughter.
02:38The drama appears to be centered on an alleged rift between Lively and Baldoni, as the two
02:43have done basically zero press together, and Baldoni also seemed to be isolated from
02:47the rest of the main cast during the press tour.
02:50Sources told The Hollywood Reporter that Lively and Baldoni had a falling out, so Lively brought
02:54in her own editor to recut the film, and People reports her husband Ryan Reynolds rewrote
02:59one key scene without the screenwriter knowing about it.
03:03Baldoni has even reportedly hired a PR crisis manager, as new information about the troubled
03:07production continues to leak out.
03:10It Ends With Us is in theaters now.
