Toyota Crown: Luxury on a budget
The Toyota Crown is the carmaker's answer to the BMW’s and Mercedes’ of the world, but is priced like a budget vehicle.

00:00The average price of a new car in the United States is a little over $47,000, 15% more
00:05expensive than it was just three years ago.
00:08And with prices already so high, a luxury car isn't in everyone's budget.
00:13But Toyota has introduced an alternative that keeps the luxury without the luxury price
00:17tag.
00:18This is the Toyota Crown.
00:26The Toyota Crown is a four-door sedan that's similar in size to BMW's 5 Series, Mercedes
00:31E-Class, and Audi's A6, though it breaks the luxury car mold with its unique styling
00:37and high-riding stance.
00:39The Crown we test drove was the top-of-the-line Platinum model.
00:43Under the hood, it has a 2.4-liter, four-cylinder, turbocharged hybrid engine.
00:48And with 340 horsepower, it can go from 0 to 60 miles an hour in 5.1 seconds.
00:55One of the features that sets the Crown apart from other vehicles in its class is the roof.
01:00Looking more like a Tesla than a Toyota, the all-glass panoramic ceiling isn't something
01:04you'll find in other cars in the Crown's tier.
01:08The Crown also comes with Toyota's Advanced Park System, which allows it to parallel park
01:13itself.
01:14So what's interesting about Toyota's Advanced Park Tech is it'll actually work not just
01:23in parallel parking situations, but also when you're in a normal parking lot.
01:30That's the space I want to go into.
01:31Right there, right next to the Mercedes.
01:32I just hit start.
01:33See, I'm not even touching anything.
01:34And my foot, which is on the brake, I'm just trying to make sure it's actually going to
01:52go into the space.
01:53So I'm going to hit this Mercedes and not go straight into this Model 3.
02:05That is technology I never thought I wanted, but somehow it's here.
02:13The Crown Weedrobe was a fully loaded 2024 Crown Platinum, and it retails for almost
02:18$55,000.
02:19Now, while that might look like a price tag for a BMW, keep in mind that's for a top-of-the-line
02:25model.
02:26The Crown's base model starts at a little over $41,000.
02:30So if you're looking for a vehicle that feels luxurious, but still priced like a budget
02:35car, the Toyota Crown can be right up your alley.
