00:00Let's start with a soft issue, the so-called victory of Carlos Yulo.
00:05What do you think of the so-called Epalympics?
00:13I think the whole country is really cheering for it.
00:18There's nothing that can be compared to the hard work and success of Carlos Yulo.
00:28Above all, I just want to say to him and to all of our Olympians,
00:33long live to you and thank you for the honor and joy that you gave to all of us, your fellow countrymen.
00:43But I think a lot of us are happy on Facebook that before our Olympic team left,
00:49the Senate gave 30 million pesos.
00:53In total, 23 million came from your office even though your fund is small.
01:01It means that before winning the medal, you already helped. Is that right?
01:06Well, it's not given as in cash.
01:09It's more in our national budget for 2024.
01:14Last year, the PSC chair, Bachman, requested that they really need to add MOOE.
01:23MOOE is a budget class for preparation and training for the Olympics.
01:32So my office made an appropriation for our budget,
01:36a total of 22 million, 7 million for athletics, and 5 million for gymnastics, weightlifting, and boxing.
01:46The PSC budget is where some of our medal potential is for the Olympics.
01:53And we were not lied to by Carlos Yulo.
01:56So it's really nice to be a Filipino because of them.
02:00Yes, I think everyone is really happy but they say,
02:05this is the situation where everybody loves a winner.
02:08But before winning and getting a medal, the attention is so small.
02:13But now, there are initiatives to add funds for the training of our athletes.
02:19Yes, that's a good recommendation coming out of the victory of Carlos Yulo.
02:25Let's really go back and seriously support a grassroots sports development program
02:33because Carlos Yulo and the other Olympians came from that.
02:37From the youth of our athletes, from those who are studying in elementary,
02:43to their local government units, let's support them.
02:48Those who are good at youth and grade school, let's support them to be varsity in high school and teenage years.
02:57Let's support them to grow in the country while they are in college, young adults,
03:04until they reach the sea games, until the Olympics.
03:09Other small countries are also doing that, a powerhouse in sports.
03:13For example, the Netherlands.
03:14And we have a lot of initiatives like that over the years.
03:17Grassroots sports development program.
03:20Let's get inspiration from Carlos Yulo and let's do this in the end.
