Launch of LED water quality signs in Eastney

00:00Hi, Councillor Steve Pitt, the Liberal Democrat leader of Paulston City Council. We're down

00:06here near the coffee cup at Eastney today as we launch one of two new digital signs

00:11that will give real-time warnings if there has been a sewage discharge in the previous

00:1524 to 48 hours. The whole point of the signs is to give people an informed choice as to

00:21whether they enter the water or not, to help with their safety and when they're making

00:25that decision. We wish the sign wasn't here but until the water companies do clean up

00:30their act and stop discharging sewage into our waterways and along our coasts, we feel

00:35this is necessary to reassure people that the City Council is with them and wants them

00:40to be able to enjoy the sea. Thank you Steve, thank you for speaking to the news.
