00:00Tropical Cyclones outside the country and other updates on the weather, let's find out together with Chris Perez, Assistant Weather Services Chief and spokesperson of Pag-asa.
00:11Sir Chris, good afternoon.
00:15Good afternoon to you as well, Asek Dale, Asek Queng, and to all our viewers.
00:20Sir Chris, what is the update on the Tropical Cyclones you are watching outside the country?
00:26As of now, there are two Tropical Cyclones that are outside our air responsibility.
00:32We will continue to monitor them.
00:34The international typhoons Amphil and Wukong are currently found here in the ocean in the eastern part of Japan.
00:42This is very far from our air responsibility and the land of our country.
00:46At this time, there is no effect on our country.
00:50However, we will continue to monitor and if there is a change in their movement, we will give appropriate weather advisories or updates to our countrymen.
01:00Sir Chris, what is the effect of this on the Philippines now, if it will enter or if it will approach?
01:08In terms of direct effect, Asek Queng, we do not expect the effect of the two typhoons we mentioned.
01:15However, even if it continues to influence the tropical cyclones, it is currently affecting the northern part of Luzon.
01:23Sir Chris, what is the situation of the Southwest Monsoon or Tropical Cyclone that is continuously affecting different parts of Luzon?
01:29And how long will this continue to happen?
01:35As of now, we expect that this Tropical Cyclone or Southwest Monsoon
01:38will reach the cloudy skies and rains here in Ilocos Region, Batanes, and Babuyan Island.
01:44We urge our countrymen there to be alert to possible landslides
01:49and continue to monitor possible localized thunderstorms and heavy rainfall advisories
01:53that will be issued by our Pag-asa Northern Luzon Regional Services Division.
01:58In the next three to five days, we expect that this Tropical Cyclone or Tropical Cyclone
02:02will still be affected here in the northern Luzon area.
02:06Sir Chris, in your monitoring, what are the updates on the Lanina phenomenon in the country?
02:10When will this possibly be felt?
02:14We continue to monitor the situation here in the Pacific Ocean.
02:19We expect that in the second half of this year,
02:21the effect of the Lanina will be possible to manifest in different parts of our country.
02:26In particular, in the last quarter of this year and in the first quarter of the next year,
02:30we expect to experience or possibly experience near normal to above normal rainfall conditions
02:36in the majority of our country.
02:38So as early as today, we will continue to monitor and disseminate information.
02:43Through our Climate Forum,
02:45we invite different stakeholders and our partners in Disaster Preparedness and Mitigation
02:51such as NDRMC and DSWD to prepare their actions
02:57just in case the expected Lanina will have a full-blown effect.
03:02Sir Chris, what is the current situation in the vast majority of the country,
03:06especially in the Visayas and Mindanao regions?
03:10As you can see, the effect of the Lanina is more pronounced here in the Northern Luzon area.
03:15However, here in Metro Manila, in the entire Visayas and Mindanao,
03:18we expect that it will generally be cloudy and sunny
03:22but there is also a chance of heavy rainfall, especially in the afternoon and evening.
03:26So don't forget to bring an umbrella
03:28because if there is no protection against sudden rain,
03:30we will protect you from the sun.
03:32So sir, aside from bringing an umbrella,
03:35what are your additional reminders to our countrymen?
03:40To our countrymen, in this fair weather condition,
03:44we are still asking them to continue to monitor the daily weather updates of Pag-asa
03:49through following our official social media accounts,
03:53checking our weather updates on our official website,
03:57bagong.pagasa.dost.gov.ph.
04:00We hope that our countrymen will continue to follow the regulations
04:05to ensure the continuation of public services,
04:08especially if there is a chance of a storm in our country.
04:12Thank you very much for your time,
04:14Chris Perez, Assistant Weather Services Chief and spokesperson of Pag-asa.
