Reform’s surge in popularity during the election cycle took many by surprise, largely to the detriment of the Conservative Party.

With that in mind, we asked people in Manchester if they thought a merger between the two parties would be a good thing or bad thing.

00:00I'm on my way down to the streets of Manchester to ask people about politics
00:03and that's because in recent months there's been a lot of talks about the
00:06Conservatives and reform making a deal. However, recent surveys have shown Nigel
00:10Farage's popularity dropping, particularly with the recent rioting, so I
00:13want to know whether people think that a deal between the two parties would be a
00:16good thing for them and the country.
00:18One Nation Conservatism still has that
00:21social element, whereas Farage and if you're going to the far right, they don't
00:26care. They literally don't care about anything. It's all about fear.
00:30I'm worried about it because I've seen a lot more stuff on social media about random
00:33fascist like little groups and a lot more than I was expecting.
00:37It's nice to see a lot of anti-fascist things as well.
00:41Personally, as a black person, as you can see me, I don't think that I've got
00:49anything positive to say. So I'm not going to say anything at all.
00:52If the Conservatives go that way, then they're not the Conservative Party
00:56anymore. They've become the Nationalist Party.
