00:12after we've been thoroughly entertained. Oli Shrewsbury come back from 2-0 down to go 3-2
00:17up, equaliser for Knox County before some penalty shootout drama at the meadow. Oli
00:22booed off at half time but cheering in celebration at the end with all that excitement we saw.
00:27Yeah, there were some real grumbles at half time. There was, wasn't there? Yeah, there
00:30was. You can actually hear the rain on the roof. It's still absolutely chucking it down.
00:33It's a really pleasant day today but yeah, it's absolutely chucking it down now. Yeah,
00:38I mean it was, I mean it's a cliche isn't it, a game of two halves but Town were, Town
00:43struggled didn't they for the vast majority of that first 45 minutes. They were probably
00:47outclassed by Knox County but as probably, as a difference that you felt that you could
00:56see between the two sides in the first half after the break, Town were excellent. They
01:01were more aggressive, you know, it looked like they had more belief, they played higher
01:05up the pitch, they won the ball back high and maybe it's just, you know, it's a new
01:09group coming together. It was a tough opening day at Stevenage and you kind of wrote on
01:14that game that we felt like we didn't learn a great deal from that and yeah, maybe that
01:22confidence just maybe took a bit of a hit at the weekend, losing your opening fixture,
01:26you kind of have a bit of self-doubt perhaps and in that first half, I mean it really wasn't
01:30good. That was probably just a little bit concerning how easily maybe at times Town
01:35were put open but, you know, can't fault them because I mean, I probably won't be the only
01:41one that thought that that was, looked a long way back in the second half but they did,
01:45they came back, they got the crowd going. There wasn't many here tonight but they got
01:48the crowd going and to be honest, it was a brilliant game. It was disappointing after
01:53they went 3-2 up that they conceded but then, you know, they showed some great composure
01:56from this point on.
01:57No, they did. Second half, you know, I know Paul Hirst talked on Saturday about it being
02:01a rugby match and a lack of quality on show but in that second half, Southlake did some
02:05really good stuff. A lot of it coming from the creator-in-chief, Tommy O'Reilly, we all
02:10waxed lyrical about it on Truesviews tomorrow but just, I suppose in terms of you don't
02:15want to start the season with two defeats, you don't want to start the season with a
02:18defeat where you've lost to a side in League Two. So just confidence and character as well,
02:26you know, coming back from 2-0 down. It would have been very easy for Salah to shrink and
02:31shrivel and lose that game, you know, 3-1, 4-1 but they've come back and, you know, massive
02:37for the players, massive for Paul Hirst as well.
02:39Yeah, I mean they had chances in the first half, didn't they? They went one down and
02:42then Toto Ntiala missed from real close range when he probably should have scored and then
02:47obviously they went two down. And they started to come back into it in the last five minutes
02:52of the first half, I thought, but after half-time they were, you know, they were much, much
02:57better. You know, the crowd got on top, you know, kind of got on top and they kind of
03:01really tried to slam home the advantage. So, you know, it was pleasing, it's nice to see.
03:06I feel like we've learnt much more about this Shrewsbury team tonight than we did on Saturday.
03:11I mean, I reiterate the thoughts from Saturday. I mean, it's a horrible game to watch. It's
03:15a damage, just completely not. They spoiled it, didn't try and play any football but that
03:19was, I mean, you know, you can see some of the criticism from the start of last season
03:23was that you just weren't waiting for the net to bulge. There was no entertainment,
03:27whereas you can't say that that game there wasn't entertaining. It was good to watch.
03:31You know, if you play like that, sometimes you come out on the wrong side, sometimes
03:34you come out on the right side but, you know, I must admit I thoroughly enjoyed that evening,
03:38probably after half-time. But yeah, no, it was good.
03:42Fantastic penalty drama here at the Meadow and a fantastic comeback from Paul Hurst men.
