Palace lined up activities to welcome Filipino athletes who competed in 2024 Olympics

00:00Roll out the red carpet, let the flags wave and the flowers fly, strike up the band and pop out the bubbly for the country's heroes have arrived.
00:08And as they walk the red carpet, their families and kin rush to greet and grab them in tight hugs and kisses to welcome them home.
00:15And after the Villamar reception, the athletes boarded a shuttle for Malacanang Palace where the first family waited to receive them for a grand reception and dinner at the Kalayaan Hall.

00:30Charms, at past 8 p.m. earlier, the Filipino athletes who participated in the Paris 2024 Olympics arrived here at Malacanang.
00:39This is part of the country's heroes' welcome for them.
00:42President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr., along with First Lady Lisa Marcos and their children, Simon and Vinny, welcomed the athletes.
00:49The athletes shook hands with the first family.
00:52There were moments when they had brief casual chats with the athletes.
00:55The last to be welcomed was double gold medalist Carlos Yulo, who later had a photo taken with the first family.
01:02After these charms, they proceeded directly to the main program inside Malacanang.
01:06Here, Carlos Yulo was the first to deliver a message where he thanked those who helped him.
01:11He also said that he's proud of all his fellow athletes.
01:15A little later, the president gave his speech.
01:18During this, he announced that his office would be giving a million pesos to each athlete who participated in the Olympics.
01:25The coaches and staff who assisted the athletes will also receive cash incentives.
01:31Charms, these cash incentives are on top of the other financial rewards the athletes will receive as mandated by law.
01:38The president said the athletes have brought honor to the Philippines on the global stage, and for that he is thankful.
01:45Instead of giving material things, President Marcos said he would seek the athletes' inputs and insights on what the government can do more for the country's sports development.
01:54At this moment, the program welcoming the athletes is still ongoing inside the Malacanang Palace.
