00:00Hi I'm Nikki, the founder of Scotty's Little Soldiers. Thank you so much to
00:04everyone at South Western Railway for supporting Scotty's. Back in 2009 my
00:09husband Corporal E. Scott was killed in Afghanistan and telling our son Kai who
00:14was just five at the time that daddy wouldn't be coming home is by far the
00:18hardest thing I've ever had to do. Our daughter Brooke was only seven months
00:22old at the time and it broke my heart knowing that she'd have no memories of
00:25her own of her amazing dad. I was able to find support for myself but actually
00:30really struggled to find support or anything that felt right for my children
00:35so in 2010 I decided to set up the charity Scotty's Little Soldiers for
00:39children who have experienced the death of a parent who served in the British
00:42Armed Forces. The charity is growing a huge amount since then and Scotty's now
00:47provides support and guidance to hundreds of bereaved military children
00:51and young people aged nought to 25 throughout their childhood. We want our
00:55members to have access to the very best health and well-being support, to
00:59outstanding development opportunities and the chance to smile again. Thank you
01:03so much for coming on our journey with us and helping us to continue to provide
01:07tailored support for hundreds of brave children and young people who have been
01:10through so much at such a young age. Together we can ensure that they never
01:15feel alone.
