00:00Star Media Group, or SMG, has been awarded the Top Media Employer Award
00:07by the KSI Strategic Institute for Asia-Pacific during the National Human Resources Forum 2024.
00:14The forum, co-organized by KSI and the Economic Club of Kuala Lumpur,
00:19aimed to serve as a platform for human resources experts
00:23to discuss emerging key workforce trends and challenges.
00:27SMG Group people, Senior General Manager Terence Raj,
00:31who received the award on behalf of the company,
00:33dedicated it to its management, human resources team and the employees.
00:39Winning this award is definitely a recognition and a testament to our efforts and our initiatives
00:47in managing human resources and also rewarding human resources
00:52and also attracting talent from the market in general.
00:56Terence likened the award to a morale booster for the team to excel further.
01:01Of course, as I said, this is a recognition,
01:03so it will definitely be a morale booster to the team to excel further and improve further,
01:11so that, of course, winning more awards is also important for us
01:16in a sense that it helps set standards for our organization.
01:21He received the award from former Chief Justice Tun Zaki Azmi,
01:25who had earlier delivered a keynote address on governance, ethics and leadership.
01:30In his speech, Zaki, who served as the Chief Justice from 2008 until 2011,
01:37shared his experience of dealing with integrity issues throughout his career,
01:41starting from his time as a magistrate up to his assuming the top position of the judiciary.
01:48Integrity is not honesty alone. Integrity is beyond that.
02:02You don't want to do that because it's immoral. You don't want to do that not only illegally,
02:10but you feel it's wrong to do it. So if you ask me, I'm not here to talk about
02:17governance, Ursari's thing, all those things, penal code, bribery,
02:25those are things you learn from Mr. Goldstein. I'm telling you about the day-to-day things.
02:32If your heart says, feels that what you are tempted to do,
02:43or offered to do, is wrong, the chances are it's wrong.
02:51You follow the heart because if you talk about negligence, wrong legally,
02:59the lawyers will find a way to get you out of the law.
03:06But if you don't look at the law, you don't look at the wording of the law,
03:12you look and feel that this is wrong. But in your heart, you know it is wrong to do that
03:24because you are at an advantage over the other minority shareholders.
03:33Other awards were also conferred during the One Day Forum, including the Top Employer's
03:39Excellence Award and Outstanding Human Resources Icon Leadership Award.
03:45Among the recipients were Telekom Malaysia, AIA, Siemens Malaysia and Maybank.
