00:00Former DAP leader P. Ramasamy has questioned the Prime Minister's perceived silence over
00:08the violence against ethnic and religious minorities in Bangladesh.
00:13Ramasamy asked if Anwar Ibrahim was prepared to condemn the violence, particularly against
00:18Hindus, which he said continued unabated.
00:22In a statement, he said global political leaders have urged the interim Bangladesh government
00:27under Muhammad Yunus to take measures to end the violence, including burning and looting
00:31of homes, properties and temples.
00:34However, Anwar has yet to condemn the violence against the ethnic and religious minorities,
00:39the former Penang Deputy Chief Minister said.
00:42Ramasamy said even if the issue of human rights in Bangladesh has no local traction, Anwar,
00:48who represents Malaysia's multiracial and multireligious population, should register
00:52his protest with the interim government in Bangladesh.
00:56Ramasamy, who chairs the Indian-based party URIMAI, also took a swipe at DAP and PKR leaders
01:02for keeping mum over the violations of human rights in Bangladesh.
