Olympic flag reaches LA, Paris 2024 organisers hailed for huge success
The Olympic flag arrived from Paris on Monday (Aug 12) in Los Angeles where it will be flown in 2028 when the city hosts the next Summer Games, while French President Emmanuel Macron thanked the Paris Olympics organisers for delivering a dazzling Games.

00:35And so that handoff to me was more than just the symbolism.
00:40It's a friendship that has developed between our two cities.
00:43Much did we have to learn from them.
00:45And I think one of the things I'm the most excited about
00:48is the way they turned the Olympics in Paris to be the Olympics for everyone.
00:53And so it was just a moment of, I feel, tremendous pride and responsibility.
00:57Because we have a lot of work to do on so many different levels.
01:00And it's not like we haven't been doing the work,
01:03but now we need to put our foot on the gas.

01:18And we who have lived for more than two weeks
01:22in a country where we had the feeling
01:25that the air was lighter than something had changed, to quote Barbara,
01:29we don't want life to take back its rights.
01:32Because in the end, life is what we have lived these last few weeks.
01:35That's real life. Thanks to you all.
01:38And so it must go on.
01:41Because for years and years,
01:44many people have told us that it was not possible.
01:47Because for years, months, weeks,
01:50everyone has told us that it was not feasible.
01:54That the opening ceremony was crazy.
01:57That security was not secure.
02:00That the Seine would never be swimmable.
02:03That the French would never be in the top 5 of the medals.
02:08There have been a lot of experts that we have heard a lot
02:12over the last few years,
02:15to say that everything you have done
02:18over the last few weeks was impossible.
02:21Well, thank you, because you have done it.
02:24So bravo to you.
02:28The legacy is also that of these Games.
02:31It is very clear.
02:34We have made sustainable Games.
02:37We have made parity Games.
02:40It can never be otherwise.
02:43And that is your success.
02:46To have so many women and men athletes,
02:49that had never been the case.
02:52It is done.
02:55To have CO2 emissions,
02:58it was seen as impossible,
03:01you have done it.
03:04And to have fully inclusive Games,
03:07where Olympic and Paralympic Games
03:10are the two races at the same time,
03:13you have done it.
03:16And this flag that was passed yesterday,
03:19was the symbol, you have done it.
