Transcript
00:00Now, we're going to meet the new faces of Mr. Tourism World Philippines 2024
00:06where they are promoting the masculinity, inner beauty, and culture of the Philippines.
00:11That's why we'll be joined live here in the studio
00:15by the winner of Mr. Tourism World Philippines 2024,
00:18Sandro Cordova, Mark Marasigan, and Alvin Etang Catulin.
00:23Good morning and welcome back to Rise and Shine Philippines.
00:26Congratulations, of course.
00:29Congratulations.
00:31Can you tell us about your feelings when you were announced that you won Mr. Tourism?
00:38It was actually mixed feelings during the coronation night
00:40because this is the very first edition for Mr. Tourism World Philippines.
00:44We actually aim to promote sustainable tourism,
00:46protection for biodiversity, and cultural understanding.
00:50So, by having this kind of competition,
00:53we are building connection from different regions.
00:56And that only means that we are promoting safe travels for everyone.
01:00And by simply edifying people about sustainable tourism,
01:06this is actually one way or a big help for those who are actually in the provinces
01:11who wanted to be promoted as well.
01:14So, yeah, I think every one of us has the advocacy
01:18and has properly represented our provinces, I think.
01:23How about you, Mark?
01:25How do you feel?
01:27At the same time, I feel so grateful and blessed
01:30to be the first runner-up of Mr. Tourism World Philippines
01:33since it is my second national pageant.
01:35And I have learned so much from this pageant.
01:39We build brotherhood with other candidates.
01:41And I think that was the most experience that I will treasure every single day of my life.
01:45How about Alvin?
01:47How was the experience?
01:49It really feels surreal and a dream come true.
01:53It's my first national pageant and I didn't expect anything.
01:57I just went there to bring the narrative about my beloved city,
02:02which is misconceived as Cagayan de Oro.
02:07This is for Sandro.
02:08As a grand winner,
02:10what is your first plan as a historian and to promote tourism further?
02:18First thing is I really have to prepare mentally and physically
02:22because the international competition is coming up really soon.
02:25When?
02:26November 4 to November 16.
02:29That will be in Vietnam.
02:33I'm really excited to do this and that is to travel each and every region in the Philippines.
02:39We are planning to promote the advocacy of the organization itself,
02:44which is sustainable tourism, cultural understanding, and protection for biodiversity.
02:50I hope that many people will continue to support this platform.
02:58This is actually a great platform.
02:59It's very relevant nowadays because of what's going on with our community.
03:06That's one thing that we want to pursue.
03:09I hope that everyone can support us in protecting our Mother Earth as well.
03:16Let's go to Mark and Alvin again.
03:18I wonder what you learned in participating in this pageant?
03:24Actually, there's a lot of things to learn in this pageant.
03:37In this entire competition, I have learned so many things such as brotherhood.
03:44Because during the competition, we don't have a manager and a makeup artist backstage.
03:50And during that time, we candidate all the makeup artists to do our own makeup.
03:55It's like looking after each other.
03:58We really have a brotherhood where we are helping each other,
04:02fixing clothes, and doing our own makeup.
04:04So it was just a great experience.
04:07It's true, the brotherhood and friendship that you will keep even after the pageant.
04:13How about you, Alvin?
04:14Yeah, I agree with what Mark had said.
04:17We really learned brotherhood here in the competition.
04:20Aside from the fact that this platform has given us the opportunity to promote our beloved city,
04:25it also helped us to gain connections with them, with our co-candidates.
04:30And that is very special to us.
04:31Sandro, when it comes to international competitions, what kind of advocacy do you bring there?
04:37Yeah, I'm actually promoting sustainable tourism.
04:39We have been practicing sustainable tourism in my province.
04:42And I hope that we can widen our horizon or widen our scope
04:47in terms of promoting sustainable tourism,
04:50which is using green architectures such as green walk trails and bike lanes.
04:59Those are simple things that we can really promote
05:03and encourage other people to actually do so in each and every provinces.
05:09Because if this is the kind of tourism that we are promoting,
05:14it will have less effect on the environment.
05:17And at the same time, we will enhance the experience of the people.
05:22I wonder, what else do you do aside from this pageant?
05:30What do you do?
05:31I'm actually a student, a tourism student.
05:33And I do modeling as a part-time.
05:36So you're still a student?
05:37Yes, I'm a third-year college in tourism management.
05:40Okay, how about you?
05:41I'm currently working as a student affairs officer at iAcademy.
05:45Okay, so you're in the academy?
05:47Yes.
05:49Alright, please invite the audience, you, Sandro,
05:53to support you in the upcoming competitions.
05:57Yes, for the upcoming competitions that will be on November 4 to 16,
06:01I am inviting everyone to please do support my journey.
06:05And I hope that we can help more people
06:08and we can educate more people about sustainable tourism.
06:14And yeah, I'd like also to thank Madam Serena de Britania,
06:19the founder of Tourism World,
06:22and my national director, Sir Apollo Smith for Mr. Tourism World Philippines.
06:27Okay, good luck!
06:30Thank you very much for joining us on this Tuesday morning.
06:34Once again, Sandro, Mark, and Alvin, our Mr. World Tourism 2024.
