00:00Welcome to Ms. Mojo, and today, we're counting down our picks for the most hummable Disney
00:14songs ever written.
00:15We'll only be considering tunes from animated features, because let's be real, theme parks
00:20and live-action movies need their own lists.
00:39How can such a peppy tune come from such a despicable character?
00:42That's a genuine question.
00:44Despite the carefree tempo, Hi Diddle Dee Dee is sung by the film's central antagonist,
00:48John.
00:49In fact, it's often cited as Disney's first villain song ever.
00:59Talk about making a good first impression.
01:01There's a certain step to Hi Diddle Dee Dee's beat that's simply irresistible.
01:13Hearing it once is setting yourself up to have it stuck in your head for weeks.
01:17It's to the point, we can't even blame Pinocchio for going with Honest John.
01:21If we heard Hi Diddle Dee Dee in real life, we'd have followed him too.
01:32Number 19 You're Welcome – Moana
01:42Maui may just be an average demiguy, but he sure can belt out a good solo.
01:47Maybe we should be thanking Lin-Manuel Miranda.
01:49He sure knows how to compose a rap section, and even in his esteemed repertoire, few are
01:54quite as infectious as You're Welcome.
02:03The rhythm is practically bursting with life.
02:06Add in some of Miranda's classic rhymes, and you have a song that's just begging
02:09you to kick back, relax and enjoy.
02:12Plus, who can pass up hearing Dwayne The Rock Johnson rap in a Disney film?
02:16What can we say except, well, you get the point.
02:23Number 18 Hi Ho – Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
02:27There's no denying that the original Disney princess has some pipes, but when the credits
02:32roll on Snow White, it's not any of her songs you'll be rushing to replay.
02:36Nope, that honor belongs to Hi Ho.
02:48Whether you're returning from a long day at work, or just looking to chill out, Hi
02:52Ho has all the charm needed to keep you smiling.
03:04Need we even mention its legendary melody?
03:06If you say you've never whistled along to Hi Ho, you either haven't heard it, or you're
03:11lying.
03:17Number 17 Trash in the Camp – Tarzan
03:21Phil Collins is a madman.
03:22He went way harder than anyone expected on Tarzan's soundtrack, and we have gems like
03:27Trash in the Camp to thank for it.
03:31It's electric, it's fresh, it's hummable, and it's entirely built from natural sounds.
03:43There's a clacking typewriter, rattling silverware, ripping cloth, and an elephant
03:49playing the horn.
03:50Let's go with it.
03:59Collins quickly ramps up the funk, building the disparate parts into a scat-like chorus
04:03that's tailor-made to make you get up and dance.
04:06Or in Tarzan's case, swing from some vines.
04:09Trash in the Camp is basically a whole party wrapped into one outstanding beat.
04:13What more could you ask for?
04:23Number 16 Almost There – The Princess and the Frog
04:27Before she became a frog, Tiana croaked out a dazzling story about her dreams to open
04:31a restaurant.
04:38It just so happened to come in the form of an Academy Award nominated song.
04:42Almost There is a full-on delight all the way through, featuring all the toe-tapping
04:46melodies, smooth-sounding lyrics, and impressive vocal control that Disney's known for.
04:58No matter if you're a frog, a princess, or something in between, there's just no
05:02making it through Almost There without admiring its easygoing vibes.
05:07After this, Tiana should rethink her dream.
05:22With a voice like hers, she could charge for dinner and a show.
05:26Number 15 What's This?
05:28– The Nightmare Before Christmas What's this, you ask?
05:31Oh, nothing much.
05:33Just a song that's better than a present under the Christmas tree.
05:41The whimsical orchestrations effortlessly capture the wonder of Jack's wintry adventure.
05:45To go along with it, the fast-paced lyrics and staccato-like chorus are to die for, and
05:50not just because they're sung by an actual skeleton.
05:59The propulsive rhythm ensures things are light, energetic, and fun until the very last
06:03note.
06:04A note that comes way too soon if you're asking us.
06:07We could listen to this song all day long.
06:09Suffice it to say, there's no trick here.
06:12What's This?
06:13is all treat.
06:20Number 14 The Bare Necessities – The Jungle Book
06:24There's only a few necessities to crafting a movie-defining jingle.
06:36You need an earworm of a chorus, an easy-to-digest message, and lots of jazz.
06:41The Bare Necessities has them all in spades.
06:44Baloo sings every note with such a laid-back swagger, it's pretty much destined to stay
06:48living in your head rent-free.
06:50To prove it, almost everyone walks out of The Jungle Book knowing this song's chorus
06:54by heart.
07:04It's just that memorable.
07:05And heartwarming.
07:07And mellow.
07:08We could keep going.
07:09Baloo isn't kidding when he says The Bare Necessities is really all you need.
07:22Number 13 Zero to Hero – Hercules
07:32Herc needed a good old-fashioned montage track, and like a gift from Olympus, the muses descended
07:37and delivered a rock anthem for the ages.
07:40Zero to Hero is everything a showstopper should be.
07:49There's nothing in the rest of Hercules' soundtrack, or really many Disney films at all, that match
07:54its pulse-pounding tempo.
07:56It doesn't ever let up either.
07:58Instead, the beat continues to grow all the way into a dizzying finale that has more flair
08:03than it knows what to do with.
08:12If Herc puts the glad in gladiator, then the muses put the her in hero.
08:17Number 12 Hawaiian Rollercoaster Ride – Lilo & Stitch
08:21Peanut butter and jelly, Lilo & Stitch, Hawaiian lyrics and acoustic instrumentation.
08:26They're simply a perfect match, and if you need convincing, one listen to Hawaiian Rollercoaster
08:31Ride should do the trick.
08:42The song is a beautiful summation of Hawaii's culture, and it comes with a gorgeous melody
08:46to boot.
08:47Be warned, though, this is the kind of earworm that stays with you long after the credits
08:51roll.
08:57That's really saying something considering Lilo & Stitch isn't even billed as a full-on
09:01musical.
09:02Then again, they clearly don't need any more songs.
09:05Hawaiian Rollercoaster Ride is more than enough.
09:21Number 11 Why Should I Worry – Oliver & Company
09:24Back in 1988, Dodger asked a very simple question.
09:37Who knew that by answering, he'd put himself in the center of an absolutely unforgettable
09:41song?
09:42These days, Why Should I Worry answers itself.
09:45To put it in Dodger's words, one minute he's in Central Park, and the next he's
09:49bringing all the groove you could ever want, and then some.
10:00And that chorus.
10:01We could fill an entire list with reasons why it's so iconic.
10:04Namely, the fact that you can listen to it over and over without getting tired of it.
10:15Rest assured, when it comes to Oliver & Company's music, there's not a thing to worry about.
10:25Number 10 Cruella De Vil – 101 Dalmatians
10:37Roger Radcliffe sure knows how to write one heck of a tune, and about a terrifying villain
10:42at that.
10:43Not only does his musical creation let us know that we should be very afraid of Cruella
10:47before we formally meet her, it's also wildly memorable.
10:54Granted, Cruella De Vil is relatively short, but that doesn't even matter, because it
11:03manages to work so much into its melody and lyrics, giving us a concentrated snappy jazz
11:10The world was such a wholesome place until Cruella, Cruella De Vil.
11:19It's no wonder it becomes a major success by the end of the film.
11:22We're clearly not the only ones who love it.
11:33Number 9 Friend Like Me – Aladdin
11:36There are a lot of Aladdin songs that stay with us long after they finish playing.
11:40Prince Ali, for one, is a certified bop.
11:52And A Whole New World is utterly unforgettable.
12:05But Friend Like Me takes the catchy cake.
12:07For one thing, Robin Williams' genie goes above and beyond.
12:11We can't believe the character doesn't charge Aladdin for this performance.
12:14It's arguably worth a wish or two.
12:20Meanwhile, the track itself is also deeply appealing, and the result is a riveting listening
12:31experience.
12:32No matter how often we find ourselves singing the show tune simply because the urge strikes
12:35us, it really does feel like we have a constant friend in Genie.
12:51Number 8 Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo – Cinderella Do it with us now, Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo.
12:57We don't have to understand what the fairy godmother is saying in this novelty tune to
13:02walk around imitating her.
13:12This ditty's repetitive and rather nonsensical nature could have come off as annoying in
13:16a lesser piece, but here it gives us a true classic.
13:20It's practically transcended the movie itself at this point, which is no small feat.
13:31We hear it playing as clearly as we see Cinderella's gorgeous dress transformation in our minds.
13:36That's about as big a compliment as we can give.
13:38Hey, the fairy godmother said it best, the thingamabob that does the job is Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo.
13:49Number 7 I'll Make a Man Out of You – Mulan Let's get down to business to find a way to
14:02get I'll Make a Man Out of You out of our heads.
14:04We're kidding.
14:05Why would we or anyone ever want to do that?
14:08Plus, we don't even think it's possible.
14:10There's no getting around the fact that it's an addictive number.
14:23Even if you put the captivating training montage and the irony on display given Mulan's gender
14:27aside, Li Shang is giving us poppy motivation at its finest.
14:31The determined beat, engrossing content, and Donnie Osmond's vocals have us walking around
14:37reminding ourselves to be swift as the coursing river on the regular.
14:52Number 6 Let It Go – Frozen
15:05Our brains will not let this melody or these lyrics go.
15:09We can't even hear the words, let it go, without the ballad coming to mind, which tells you
15:13everything you need to know.
15:14It marks Elsa's big moment where she stops concealing and starts feeling.
15:19It goes without saying, but Idina Menzel's rendition is more than fit for the occasion,
15:23entrancing us from start to finish.
15:37It hasn't become a phenomenon in its own right by accident.
15:40We also now associate wanting to build a snowman with another aptly titled Frozen number.
15:45Shout out to this movie for giving us a stellar soundtrack we won't soon forget.
15:58Number 5 Eye to Eye – A Goofy Movie
16:01There's nothing funny about what an absolute bop Eye to Eye is.
16:05Goofy and Max joining fictional superstar Powerline on stage as he performs is a total
16:10treat.
16:11It's also the perfect song to underscore the moment.
16:23It's infectious the whole way through, with a chorus that's impossible to ignore.
16:27We can barely resist the urge to get up and channel our own inner Powerline just thinking
16:31about it.
16:41We definitely could never match what Tevin Campbell brings to the table, but we always
16:46have a wonderful time trying as we groove.
16:48If we listen to each other's heart, we'll probably hear Eye to Eye blasting.
17:08Number 4 Be Our Guest – Beauty and the Beast
17:11We can't deny that Belle and her little town come alive in Beauty and the Beast's
17:15opening number.
17:25But Lumiere, Mrs. Potts, and company have been living – or should we say dining – in
17:30our heads rent-free ever since we first heard Be Our Guest.
17:42Howard Ashman and Alan Menken tapped into something special when crafting this one,
17:46bringing together a magical melody and enchanting lyrics that effortlessly hook us.
17:51Combine that with Jerry Orbach and Angela Lansbury's magnetic take on the material,
17:56and you get a Broadway-style feast that never exits your consciousness.
18:00If you're stressed, it's Be Our Guest we suggest.
18:13Number 3 We Don't Talk About Bruno – Encanto
18:25It's difficult to recall a time before We Don't Talk About Bruno entered our lives
18:29and became a cultural obsession.
18:31The song's writer and co-producer, Lin-Manuel Miranda, clearly knows how to draw listeners
18:36all the way in, and this Latin-infused hit is proof.
18:39For a while, the name on everybody's lips was Bruno.
18:42Honestly, it still sort of is.
18:53It's easy to see why, since the chart-topping ensemble piece features exciting beats, intriguing
18:58verses, multiple perspectives and styles, a chorus that won't quit, and more.
19:03In other words, it's a major earworm.
19:05Of course, it's not the only catchy track Encanto has to offer.
19:20Number 2 Under the Sea – The Little Mermaid
19:23From Les Poissons to Poor Unfortunate Souls, the musical offerings in this film are endless
19:28and endlessly melodic.
19:39Under the Sea is the prime example of that.
19:42Our feet may be on land, but deep down, we're always cutting a rug where life is the bubbles.
19:47That's because Sebastian's showstopper is everything.
19:59As we know, Ariel ends up doing her own thing, not taking the crab's pro-sea arguments to
20:05heart.
20:06Still, we have a hard time believing the track doesn't stay with her once she's human.
20:10We know it's had a long-lasting impact on us.
20:15Seriously, there are very few days where we don't find ourselves thinking about and
20:27humming it.
20:44Number 1 – Hakuna Matata – The Lion King
20:47There are several tunes from The Lion King we'll never get enough of.
20:55I just can't wait to be king and be prepared our standouts.
21:06And our existence wouldn't be the same without Circle of Life.
21:20But we have to spotlight Hakuna Matata.
21:23After all, time has proven that it ain't no passin' craze.
21:26Timon and Pumbaa are trying to help young Simba when they start performing the infectious
21:30piece.
21:38Pretty soon, he's joining in and ultimately growing up.
21:42But they don't only get Simba on board.
21:44We're jamming and vocalizing along, too.
21:47Now, every word has embedded itself into our brains, and the titular philosophy is part
21:52of us.
21:53No complaints or worries for the rest of our days here, though.
