00:00One of Liverpool's historic buildings could be transformed into a New York-inspired cocktail
00:06bar and restaurant. The Lyceum building at the bottom of Bold Street is the subject of
00:10an application to upgrade and change use to a brand new dining venue.
00:14The Grade 2 listed site has been identified by ARK Inspirations Ltd to grow their brand,
00:19which already boasts more than a dozen locations across the country. The firm has already worked
00:22on a number of vacant and redundant buildings, including other listed sites in Manchester,
00:27Birmingham and Leeds. Should the proposals be approved by the Council's
00:30Planning Committee, three floors could be repurposed into what the applicant has described
00:35as a glamorous cocktail bar. Built between 1800 and 1802, the building
00:39was originally designed to house two separate institutions, the Liverpool Library, a private
00:43subscription library and a newsroom. The bar will be spread across the lower ground,
00:47ground and mezzanine floor levels of the building, with a new mezzanine floor also proposed between
00:52lower ground and ground floor levels. The entrance will be taken from Bold Street.
