00:00Well, there's always been a lot of European investment in roads, and since EU money has
00:04been withdrawn, particularly, I remember when the Republic of Ireland had got a lot of investment
00:08into roads, and theirs are, particularly the main ones to Dublin and across the Galway
00:13and down to Cork, they are fine, well-tarmacked, they're not troublesome, unlike in Britain
00:20where with everything, nobody wants to admit that it's their responsibility, so local authorities
00:24are going to say they don't have the money, government is going to say, well, it's up
00:29to you, highways authorities are going to say, well, we need to get money from somewhere
00:34else, clearly it's something people like to complain about, and rightly, they fill them
00:39in on the cheap, they get emptied again, like anything, there needs to be a wholesale look
00:46at it and an investment properly across the piece.
00:49The roads in Europe are lovely, but even up north, the roads up north, run by Bair, their
00:55roads are perfect, if you have a motorbike up there, you can actually go for miles up
01:01north, but down here, the roads are terrible.
