Birmingham heatwave: How locals are coping with the scorching temperatures
The Midlands is experiencing a hot start to the week with temperatures soaring to 31 degrees Celsius. The heat is set to continue throughout the week. We spoke to locals to see if they are relishing the summer sun or if the rising temperatures are proving to be a bit too much to handle.

00:42There have been hard days, but I don't mind an hard day,
00:44knowing that it's not going to last very long.
00:46It's just nice.
00:47I prefer cooler weather myself, but our holiday in Thailand a lot,
00:50so I get used to hot weather.
00:53So a few days' hot weather is good.
00:56As long as you know there's an end to it.

01:04so you've got to make the most of it when it's happening.
01:08I mean, I'm off to Prague for the day tomorrow.

01:12The heat can be really overwhelming.
01:14Obviously, this country's not made for it.
01:17You know, we don't really have air conditioning in many places,
01:19so me and my friends are, like, scrabbling to the stores
01:22to stand in front of the fridges to get cool.
01:25But I love the heat, but I recognise it's not really natural
01:29to be this hot or this humid.
01:31It's the humidity that really kills.
01:33I like the hot weather,
01:36because my parents are from India, so it's a nub of land.
01:41I mean, we've really not had a summer, have we?
01:43I mean, put out ten hot days, I'm more for, yeah, more of it, really.

01:51Yeah, definitely. There's been none.
01:53I don't know where we'll say the summer's been,
01:55but it's only been floating around about a week.
