00:00The world's top sportsmen and women came to compete in what is arguably the
00:04world's most beautiful city. There was no lack of photo opportunities for the
00:11Paris Games. The hosts relished having the home advantage. Spirit Sword as French
00:17swimmer Léon Marchand clinched five medals, four of them gold. Another home
00:25hero was judo star Teddy Reiner. He was one of two individuals to light the
00:30Olympic cauldron and he continued his success winning two golds to add to his
00:35tally from previous games. Another mesmerizing performance was in
00:40gymnastics with the world's most decorated gymnast Simone Wiles of the
00:44United States taking home three golds and one silver. While at Roland Garros
00:52Serbia's Novak Djokovic savored victory adding Olympic gold to his list of
00:57incredible wins. The 2024 Olympics also introduced the world to lesser-known
01:04athletes including the Algerian boxer Iman Khalif who faced controversy over
01:10her gender and who went on to win gold and stand on top of the Olympic podium.
01:19Among the memorable moments this image of a dive into the Seine River for the
01:24women's triathlon event. After months of concern over water quality it was won in
01:29one hour and 54 minutes and 55 seconds by France's Cassandra Beaugrand. Morocco's
01:36Soufiane Albakaly took eight minutes and six seconds to be crowned king of the
01:403,000 meter steeplechase while the American sprinter Noah Lyles triumphed in
01:45an incredible photo finish in less than 10 seconds in the hundred meters. And on
01:50the other side of the planet the Brazilian surfer Gabriel Medina stunned
01:54the world suspended above the waters of Tahiti. The Olympics magic was seen too
01:59at the Place de la Concorde with BMX riders rising into the sky with the Luxor
02:03obelisk in the background. Another venue to wow the crowds was the Grand Palais
02:08museum for fencing. From romance here a marriage proposal to a moment of
02:15reconciliation between North and South Korea here a selfie of friendship. The
02:20Paris Games provided a myriad of highlights in what was an extraordinary
02:2616 days.
