Why DeAndre Swift Is a Risky Fantasy Football Pick

00:00Joe, first running back to avoid comes out of Chicago.
00:09Yeah, the first one here is DeAndre Swift, and this is for a couple reasons.
00:14The breaking tackle metrics for him aren't great, number one.
00:17Number two, wherever he's been, he's never been the touchdown guy.
00:20You can go back and look at that historically.
00:22Guys have outpaced him for touchdowns. He struggles at the goal line.
00:25And if you go back to yesterday, I think it's a really good indication of the kind of scenario he's in,
00:29where Khalil Herbert was the guy who got nine touches.
00:32And how many did Swift get? Oh, right, one.
00:36Now, look, he also did have a big catch there, so there's explosiveness with Swift,
00:40and he will work as that change of pace guy.
00:42But the draft and where he's currently going, I think, is just really just a high-end kind of guy.
00:47And I don't know if I want to go that route. I'd rather wait, take a Bryan Robinson Jr.,
00:51who has more touchdown equity to his offense.
00:53Because, look, we're talking about a very crowded backfield,
00:56and the guy that's limited in terms of the snaps and touches he's going to get because it's crowded
01:00and because of the style of running back that he is.
01:03The next guy on this list is Josh Jacobs, another one where you look at Green Bay,
01:08historically, with LeFleur, and he likes to spread the ball around.
01:11Now, that's not a great thing, because Jacobs' fantasy value the last couple of years
01:14was built on one thing, volume, because the metrics were mediocre,
01:18for the most part, on him as a running back.
01:20You start to take away that volume, you start to take away a little bit of his ability
01:25to return fantasy investment.
01:27In that same range, I'd much rather be taking guys like Rashad White,
01:31or even wait a little longer and take a guy who's going to get all the volume,
01:34like a Ramondre Stevenson.
01:35So that's another guy that I think you're concerned with.
01:37Marshawn Lloyd, obviously a guy that could eventually eat into some of those carries there,
01:42as long as he stays healthy.
01:43But Jacobs, for me, is another one of these guys where running backs get jettisoned
01:47from teams for a reason, and then they don't often find that second life on a second team.
01:52And then the last guy here on the list is a guy that I do love the talent.
01:57I'm just a little skeptical of when he's going to arrive.
02:00And it's Jonathan Brooks.
02:01And Brooks is, again, extraordinary talent.
02:04We heard a lot of the same things that we heard last year
02:06when we were talking about Javante Williams.
02:07He's ahead of schedule, he had the torn ACL, he's going to be back, it's going to be fine.
02:11And then Javante Williams never looked like himself all year.
02:14Maybe he comes back in the first month of the season,
02:16maybe it's the second month of the season.
02:17But Jonathan Brooks is a player I think you want in Dynasty,
02:20where you buy low on this year for Keeper League.
02:22But in 2024, I have some concerns.
