00:00I was fiercely protective of this character because I really wanted for people to see
00:14her as more than just the green girl.
00:17You're green.
00:20I am.
00:23I really wanted for people to see her humanity, and her light, and her joy, so that we could
00:41go on a journey together.
00:53The wonderful Wizard of Oz summons you to the Emerald City.
01:03I'm kind of overwhelmed by how much outpouring there has been.
01:07I'm really overwhelmed by how much love there is and how much want there is to see this
01:11film.
01:12I knew you'd understand.
01:13That makes me so happy.
01:18I feel extremely lucky to be the conduit to be able to give this to people, and I'm glad
01:28that there's such warm, open arms waiting to receive us.
01:35I don't know if I've had a greater thrill than flying around on wires whilst singing
01:42live.
01:43It's a really strange sensation because I have to shift the way I breathe in order to
01:52sing.
01:53It is one of the most exhilarating feelings ever.
02:08I remember watching Cynthia perform at the Oscars, and being in utter awe of her, and
02:14thinking, there's no better performer on the planet.
02:17I remember being so moved, and just thinking, I hope I get the chance to sing with her one
02:21day.
02:22And here we are.
02:23You can do anything.
02:24I know.
02:25The way Cynthia plays Elphaba is just such a master class.
02:31I saw all the innocence and all the love for a character like this, it's in her eyes.
02:39You see a personal connection.
02:41It was very moving.
02:46I love Elphaba for who she is, and what she represents, and what she's going to mean to
02:52other people.
02:53I'm not afraid.
02:59It's the wizard who should be afraid of me.
03:02And I hope that whoever watches this, whoever feels like they don't fit, like they're different
03:11or odd, I hope that they feel seen, because I know I did.
03:22Wicked encourages us to share all the sides of ourselves, and not be afraid to be open
03:28about who we are, as long as it comes from kindness and love.
03:42There's real wonder and defiance in this beautiful character, and I think there's a bit of wonder
03:48and defiance in a lot of us.
03:50There's certainly wonder and defiance in me.
03:52Come with me.
03:53Think of what we could do together.
03:57If I can keep that wonder alive, if I can keep the magic alive in anyone, then I'm doing
04:06the right job.
