00:00Welcome to Mojo Plays and today, we're battling our way through both the Greek and Norse pantheons
00:14to challenge the 30 hardest bosses in the God of War series.
00:28Before we continue, be sure to subscribe to our channel and ring the bell to get notified
00:32about our latest videos.
00:36Pollux and Castor, God of War Ascension.
00:51The pair of Pollux and Castor might be one of the worst boss fights in the series, but
00:56that doesn't mean it doesn't still pose a challenge.
00:59Full of time-bending powers and collapsing arenas, Pollux and Castor use their powers
01:04to great effect and have a myriad of cheap tactics and tricks to slow Kratos' progress.
01:10Duel-wielding weapons and teleporting around the arena, the first phase of the fight can
01:14be a bit challenging due to the constantly shifting tactics as well as the magic and
01:19time powers, but it's when Pollux takes over that the fight truly intensifies.
01:24Pollux uses his telekinetic abilities to unleash all manner of magical attacks against
01:29Kratos while also throwing Castor's weapons from afar, keeping his distance from the action,
01:35making it more difficult for Kratos to land a hit.
01:38Pollux will also regularly break down and rebuild the arena, forcing Kratos to remain
01:43constantly on the move.
01:56Callisto – God of War, Ghost of Sparta
02:06Nothing in Kratos' life in Greece ever gives him a moment of peace, and upon reuniting
02:11with his mother and finding out that his brother is still alive, Callisto is forcibly transformed,
02:17presumably either by Zeus or some kind of curse just as she is about to reveal to Kratos
02:22who his father is.
02:25Transformed into a hideous abomination, Kratos must battle his own mother before she kills
02:29him first.
02:31Callisto's enormous size is her greatest weapon, and she uses the small, enclosed arena to
02:36her advantage, slamming her enormous fist to the ground and swinging wildly at Kratos
02:41as he attempts to mount any kind of counterattack.
02:44Callisto can also cross the room with surprising speed and easily catch Kratos, throwing him
02:50against the few remaining obstructions.
02:52Thankfully, this fight is mostly physical, so the best strategy is maintaining as much
02:57distance as possible while always being aware of what attack is coming next.
03:10Aegion the Hecatonchires, God of War Ascension
03:26Infected by Magira's parasites, Aegion is horrifically transformed and forced to do
03:31battle with Kratos.
03:33What begins as only the Hecatonchires' hand doing battle with Kratos, growing bladed fingers
03:38and teeth, the battle quickly grows uncontrollable as the arena constantly shifts with every
03:44attack, sending Kratos to all corners of the complex with the mutilated hand swiping and
03:49slicing at him every step of the way.
03:51Filled with quick time events and close calls, and given the scale and scope of the battle,
03:56it's all too easy to lose Kratos in all the chaos and wide angles.
04:01With victory in sight, Magira infects the entirety of Aegion and sends the entire Coliseum
04:07into disarray.
04:08Filled with undead warriors, gnashing teeth, and threats from all sides, the opening of
04:13Ascension leaves more of an impact than the rest of the game entirely.
04:24Garm, God of War Ragnarok
04:36Ragnarok's boss fights might be on a significantly smaller scale than what the series is known
04:40for, but when it does drop a big one, it's a big one.
04:45After accidentally freeing Garm, Kratos and Atreus attempt to right the boy's mistake,
04:50only to nearly become lunch for the enormous wolfhound.
04:53Garm's enormous size compared to the two means a good chunk of the fight is nothing more
04:57than Kratos swiping at the pooch's ankles, but he will occasionally give the pair an
05:02up-close look at his chompers to give Kratos something new to swing at.
05:06Full of scratches, swipes, and bites, given Garm's size as well as his speed, there's
05:12very little Kratos can do except dodge and wait for the perfect moment to retaliate.
05:17When Garm reappears for round two, the arena is even smaller, giving Kratos and Atreus
05:23less room to maneuver, but at least the same is true for Garm.
05:37Grendel of the Ashes and Frost, God of War 2018
05:50Leave it to the Trolls to ruin what was a beautiful father and son bonding moment.
05:54By this point in the game, Kratos and Atreus have faced down their fair share of Trolls,
05:58but the Grendels are a different breed of Troll entirely.
06:01The pair are significantly faster than their free-range cousins, and have access to numerous
06:07magic attacks and spells that the other Trolls don't, such as room-filling fog.
06:12Their enormous pillars can do a substantial amount of damage whether they're slamming
06:16them down with an Aftershock or simply swinging them in Kratos' direction.
06:21Focusing on only one is nearly impossible as they constantly have each other's backs,
06:26and each is only susceptible to either the Leviathan Axe or the Blades of Chaos, forcing
06:31players to constantly switch weapons to deal with whichever Troll happens to be the closest.
06:36Finally, keep an eye on your health bar throughout this one.
06:48Thanatos, God of War, Ghost of Sparta
07:05The God of Death, Thanatos is looking to make Kratos' stay in the Dominion of Death
07:09a permanent one.
07:11Even with Kratos' lost brother Deimos fighting at his side, Thanatos still poses a substantial
07:16threat even for the newly christened God of War.
07:19Thanatos is crazy fast, and can quickly zip around the arena while also taking to the
07:25air to unleash magic attacks before slamming down and disorienting Kratos momentarily.
07:31Thanatos eventually unleashes his wild side and overtakes the battlefield as an enormous
07:35winged dragon beast complete with all new and stronger attacks.
07:40Unfortunately, the cost of victory over the God of Death is Kratos losing Deimos again,
07:46allowing Kratos to unleash the true power of his Spartan rage all over Thanatos and
07:51delivering swift justice for his fallen brother's sacrifice.
08:02Odin, God of War Ragnarok Throughout God of War Ragnarok, Odin is presented
08:12as a very ominous and imposing, but ultimately timid antagonist.
08:17However, the veil is lifted during the climax of Ragnarok when Odin drops the facade and
08:22unleashes his true godly strength.
08:25Odin is remarkably nimble, and will quickly dart around the arena while unleashing all
08:30manner of elemental attacks.
08:32The first phase of the fight is fairly straightforward, and it isn't until round two you realize Odin
08:39was holding back.
08:40With room-clearing magic attacks and his now transforming staff, Odin can easily catch
08:45the player off guard and keep them on the back foot.
08:49Even attempting to play cautiously is dangerous, as Odin will more than happily bring the fight
08:54directly to Kratos.
08:56Even with the aid of Freya alongside Atreus, Odin more than proves why he is so feared
09:02throughout the realms.
09:15The Furies, God of War Ascension Although Kratos encounters the Furies numerous
09:26times throughout the events of Ascension, it's during the final climax in which the
09:30Furies unleash their true powers on the future God of War.
09:34Realizing their mind games will no longer work on the Spartan, the two remaining Fury
09:38sisters join forces to simply kill Kratos for good.
09:42As Electo transforms into an enormous, tentacled Kraken creature, Tissiphony brings the fight
09:48to Kratos' level, and in between battling her sister's mini-appendages, summons numerous
09:53Spartan warriors to battle Kratos on the high seas in a true naval nightmare filled with
09:58magic and elemental attacks.
10:01The game thankfully lets you mostly focus on one sister at a time, but the flurry of
10:05quick-time events can set you back if you're not prepared for them.
10:09Facing your demons has never felt so satisfying.
10:20Hrist and Mist, God of War Ragnarok The Valkyries offered some of the most significant
10:34challenges in God of War 2018, and the introduction of Hrist and Mist was more than enough to
10:40instantly give players sweaty palms.
10:43Thankfully Atreus is a much more capable fighter this time around, although he will still need
10:47the occasional rescue, but dealing with the constant assault from two Valkyries at once
10:52is enough to put even the strongest God of War on the back foot.
10:56Even attempting to deal with them one at a time is futile, as the other will frequently
11:01interrupt and lend a hand to their sister.
11:04And just when you think you finally have the battle in hand, the pair will call for
11:08divine intervention from Asgard and regain their entire health bars unless you manage
11:13to stop them.
11:14Match their aggression with aggression and never let up until victorious, and block like
11:19your life depends on it, because it does.
11:30Tyr, God of War Ragnarok The Good Spartan Returns
11:41Throughout God of War 2018, players are constantly shown and told legends of Tyr's travels,
11:47and in Ragnarok, fans got first-hand experience how powerful a God of War Tyr truly is during
11:53their trip to Valhalla.
11:54Having invited Kratos, Tyr uses combat to help Kratos overcome his many problems, but
12:00this form of therapy isn't going to be gentle.
12:04Each time the player defeats and re-encounters Tyr, the former God of War has a new set of
12:09weapons from his travels, and he seems to have spent an awful lot of time training with
12:14each of them.
12:15Tyr's assaults are relentless, and he can and will easily get the upper hand on Kratos
12:21even as he regains his strength.
12:24Each encounter with Tyr brings not only a new set of weapons for players to contend
12:28with, but also new tricks and tactics that Tyr will frequently use to gain the upper
12:33hand.
12:43Hercules – God of War 3 Although they could have easily been allies,
12:57Hercules takes Kratos' very existence as an affront, and seeks to kill Kratos as his
13:03final laborer before ascending to Mount Olympus.
13:07Content to watch his minions attempt to wear Kratos down before officially joining the
13:11fray, Hercules launches into the arena with his Nemean Cestus armor and commands his sentries
13:17to hold Kratos down so he can get a cheap hit in on the God of War.
13:22Hercules is incredibly powerful, and has large sweeping strikes that can clear the immediate
13:27area around him.
13:29With the help of the thorn statues around the arena, Kratos can chip away at Hercules'
13:34armor until Kratos eventually turns his own weapons against his half-brother.
13:39Hercules believed himself a god, but was left to rot in the gutter.
13:51Hades – God of War 3 After Kratos' numerous escapes from the
14:03underworld, it's safe to say that Hades' beef with Kratos is pretty personal for making
14:09him look bad.
14:10After attempting to steal Kratos' soul proves ineffective, Hades takes matters into his
14:15own hands and gives Kratos a taste of his own medicine with the Claws of Hades swinging
14:20and slamming around the tiny arena.
14:23Hades is much larger than most of the other gods, so while Kratos could hack away at his
14:28ankles, he does much more damage aiming higher.
14:32After giving Hades a monster headache and sending him into the River Styx, the fight
14:37is far from over and Hades returns with all new swipe and slam attacks Kratos needs to
14:43dodge to ensure Hades remains buried among his dead worshippers for good.
14:52Persephone – God of War, Chains of Olympus The reluctant queen of the underworld, Persephone
15:05orchestrates a scheme that not only reunites Kratos with his daughter and forces him to
15:10make an impossible choice, but could also potentially end the world altogether.
15:16Clad in armor, Persephone shakes Greece to its very bedrock battling Kratos, sending
15:21chunks of the arena at him with every turn.
15:25She will eventually call in the big guns and with a few simple button presses, Kratos leaves
15:30Atlas trapped with the weight of the world on his shoulders.
15:34Seeing her plans slowly dissolving, Persephone unleashes her wrath and were it not for Kratos'
15:40parrying abilities, would have easily vaporized the future God of War.
15:45With the Gauntlet of Zeus, Kratos delivers a gut punch that puts an end to all of Persephone's
15:50schemes.
15:59Nidhogg – God of War, Ragnarok The guardian of the World Tree, the Nidhogg
16:11stands between Freya and her freedom from Odin's curse and is unfortunately a casualty
16:17of the Allfather's malice.
16:19With its realm-tear-hopping abilities as well as powerful Bifrost attacks, the Nidhogg easily
16:25dominates the small arena before Freya joins the fight.
16:28The Nidhogg slithers around clinging to the many pillars dotting the area while unleashing
16:33powerful Bifrost blasts that can easily double the damage Kratos endures.
16:38Occasionally, she'll inhale debris through her chest cavity to use as munitions against
16:43the two who would dare disturb the roots of Yggdrasil.
16:47Finally realizing the battle is lost, she attempts to retreat, only to lose her head
16:51for interfering.
17:01Scorpius – God of War 3 One of the few bosses in God of War 3 that
17:06wasn't one of the many gods waiting to be slain by Kratos' hand, the Scorpius' brood
17:11attempts to slow Kratos' progress before the mother of all scorpions makes her grand
17:16entrance and tries to swallow Kratos whole.
17:19With all of her vulnerable parts shielded in ice, Kratos must break through her hardened
17:23exterior before dealing any real damage to the queen.
17:27Once weakened, her children will try to stop Kratos' impromptu dental surgery, which
17:32only enrages the queen further, and rightfully so, as she slams her claws around the arena
17:38to crush Kratos like the annoying pest he is.
17:41The queen will routinely retreat, only to reemerge to swipe at Kratos from afar while
17:46he deals with her brood.
17:48The battle finally ends when Kratos gives her a dose of her own medicine, and ensures
17:53she gets the point.
17:55Magni and Modi – God of War 3 Although the sons of Thor were tasked with
18:09hunting Kratos and Atreus, they really should have known when to back down.
18:14As the quartets square off, Magni focuses most of his attacks on Kratos while Modi fends
18:19off Atreus and his bow, while the pair occasionally team up to bring down the former God of War.
18:25Their fighting style is quite similar to Kratos', employing their shields and melee attacks,
18:31making this battle more evenly matched than most.
18:35When the tide turns against them, the sons will blind Kratos and Atreus to attack from
18:39the shadows.
18:41Fending off the pair is no easy task, especially since both will also demonstrate their godly
18:46abilities with arena-filling magic attacks that can leave Kratos stunlocked and open
18:51to attack.
18:53Although not the first time Kratos has faced multiple bosses at once, the brothers' coordination
18:58makes them especially challenging.
19:07Ulric – God of War 2 The warrior who nearly defeated Kratos and
19:20led to his blood oath with Ares, Ulric the Barbarian King returns from the depths of
19:24Hades to exact his revenge against Kratos on his pilgrimage to find the Sisters of Fate.
19:30Dragging Kratos into battle once again, from the back of his mighty steed, King Ulric speaks
19:35loudly and carries an even bigger hammer.
19:39Once dismounted, Ulric becomes even more dangerous with large, sweeping attacks that summon the
19:44undead to fight alongside him.
19:52These aren't just fodder enemies either.
19:55They can grab Kratos and allow Ulric to get a couple cheap hits in before Kratos breaks
20:00free.
20:01Finally, as Ulric's rage grows, so does he until Kratos is dwarfed by the might of
20:07the Barbarian King.
20:09Ulric might have returned looking for vengeance, but Kratos grounded him and brought him back
20:13down to size.
20:23The Crimson Dread – God of War Ragnarok Although only a few dragons remained in Midgard
20:34in God of War 2018, their population has seen a boom in the years leading up to Ragnarok,
20:41and arguably, the dragons' champion has to be the Crimson Dread.
20:45While exploring the crater, Kratos will encounter the winged beast and the Dread makes quick
20:50work of living up to its name.
20:53Far quicker than most enemies in the game, as well as maintaining an aerial advantage,
20:57the Crimson Dread will not only coat the battlefield in flames as it swoops in from above, but
21:02will also take a bite out of Kratos' health bar should he get careless.
21:07The lower the Dread's health becomes, the stronger and more aggressive its attack patterns,
21:12with a few being completely unblockable.
21:23Balder – God of War 2018 After the troll fight in the early hours of
21:37the game, players may believe they have a pretty good handle on the God of War's new
21:42combat, and then Balder comes knocking to prove them wrong.
21:46After their initial bout, Kratos and Atreus cross paths with Balder multiple times before
21:51their final climactic battle, and both combatants hold nothing back despite Freya's interference.
21:57Even without his invulnerability, Balder is no pushover and Kratos must switch between
22:03the blades and the axe to match Balder's shifting elemental properties, while the ever-changing
22:08landscape of the battle keeps players constantly on edge.
22:12Atreus is especially useful here to aggro Balder and opens him up to Kratos' most powerful
22:18attacks, and is a brilliant display of their synergy during battle as they expertly chain
22:23attacks together to end the cycle once and for all.
22:34Heimdall – God of War Ragnarok A battle with such unpredictable odds, Kratos
22:49needed to craft a weapon specifically for their encounter.
22:53While much of the early fight is spent on the defensive trying to avoid his attacks
22:57and sass, once Kratos lands that all-important first hit, the true battle begins.
23:04The battle against Heimdall is just as much about predicting his moves as it is about
23:08dealing damage, as Heimdall's erratic movements and speed make keeping up with him a risky
23:14endeavor, while laying traps of your own with the Drapnir Spear opens the all-seeing God
23:19up to counterattacks.
23:21Heimdall has numerous unblockable attacks, as well as a Realm Shift ability to slow down
23:25time.
23:27Beating him once is literally only half the battle, as Heimdall will unleash powerful
23:31Bifrost attacks before Kratos puts his lights out for good.
23:35Bet he didn't see that coming.
23:42Sisters of Fate – God of War II The Sisters of Fate were never going to let
23:56Kratos change what was already written, but that didn't stop the rage-fueled Spartan
24:01from attempting to rewrite history.
24:03What begins as a one-on-one battle with Lachesis, Kratos needs to not only maintain his distance
24:09while parrying her many attacks, but keep to the grapple points to avoid her airborne
24:14and lightning follow-ups.
24:16Atropos will then attempt to erase Kratos from his own timeline by destroying the sword
24:21bridge Kratos used to defeat Ares.
24:23While Atropos isn't as powerful as her sister, her constant teleporting makes keeping up
24:28with her a nuisance.
24:30Once the sisters have teamed up, Lachesis will assault Kratos head-on while Atropos
24:35will swipe at Kratos from the many mirrors surrounding the room.
24:39Turning the fates against the sisters with the Amulet of Fates will force the sisters
24:43to take a good long look at their own reflections.
24:53The Maven – God of War Ragnarok Ragnarok is full of optional bosses that
25:04can pose a significant challenge, but few can hold a candle to stumbling into the path
25:09of the Librarian of the Elven Sanctum.
25:12After dealing with numerous other Light Elves, including the Light Elf Queen Ulva, many would
25:17believe they know what to expect.
25:20They were thoroughly mistaken.
25:22The Maven is relentless in her attacks, which is even more devastating given the tiny arena.
25:28But with many of her sword strikes being completely unblockable, as well as her ability to chain
25:33multiple combos together, Kratos will barely have a moment to pick up a health stone before
25:38her next assault.
25:40Even if you manage to chip away at her health, she'll retreat to heal herself, and if you
25:45don't interrupt her in time, all of your work will be undone, and you'll be starting
25:50over from square one.
25:59Dark Elf King – God of War 2018
26:07More or less an overpowered Dark Elf, not unlike those Kratos and Atreus had already
26:11battled numerous times before, the Dark Elf King is far faster, stronger, and implements
26:18much stronger magic attacks than his brethren.
26:21The Dark Elf King manages to go toe-to-toe with the former God of War, but should he
26:26become overwhelmed, will use magic to blind Kratos and Atreus to give him an advantage
26:31as he blasts long-range attacks from the darkness.
26:34His swings and aerial assaults can also be quite devastating should he connect, but even
26:39his majesty is no match for Kratos' Spartan rage.
26:49Thor – God of War Ragnarok
27:03While this fight didn't start with the bang many were expecting given the teaser at the
27:07end of God of War 2018, it nonetheless shattered our expectations as well as the fourth wall.
27:15Thor is every bit Kratos' equal in terms of strength and surprisingly speed, but that
27:21doesn't mean Kratos won't have to fight to survive.
27:24After the initial encounter, the two have their final bout in the shadow of Ragnarok,
27:29and Thor brings the thunder.
27:32Thor is able to give as well as he gets, and his defenses make him a damage sponge to most
27:37of Kratos' attacks beside the Dropnir Spear, which can eat away a significant chunk if
27:42given time to charge up.
27:44Using smart use of Kratos' shield attacks to interrupt many of Thor's most powerful
27:48swings will easily turn the tide of the battle as long as Kratos can avoid Thor's multiple
27:54lightning strikes.
28:05Charon – God of War Chains of Olympus
28:16The ferryman responsible for bringing the souls of the dead to the afterlife, Charon
28:21doesn't take kindly to Kratos making a mockery of his profession by showing up still alive
28:26and almost immediately sets about writing this oversight.
28:30While the first encounter is unwinnable, Kratos returns to settle the score at a later
28:35time.
28:36Charon is exceptionally fast, and along with his long-reaching scythe attacks and ability
28:41to teleport around his ship, landing a combo is only the beginning of Kratos' problems.
28:47Charon will also make use of the ship's pillars to regain his health until Kratos
28:51destroys them, and can also spew a poisonous gas that will eat away at Kratos' health
28:57if he doesn't avoid it.
28:58This isn't even mentioning the possibility of him using his one-hit kill that he pulls
29:03out of nowhere.
29:05The ferryman puts up a valiant fight, but Kratos sent him swimming downriver.
29:17Zeus, God of War III
29:30The king of the gods of Greece, and arguably one of the worst fathers of all time, much
29:36like Ares, Zeus earns his place on Kratos' hit list by betraying him.
29:41Zeus is one of the most powerful gods for a reason, and he makes sure Kratos feels the
29:46thunder as their battle moves from a 2D fighter to overlooking the end of ancient Greece,
29:52and finally, inside Mother Gaia herself.
29:55Zeus employs all manner of magic attacks, especially his lightning, as well as tricks,
30:01such as projecting multiple images of himself for Kratos to spam against.
30:05The finale to this grand confrontation is exceptionally cathartic as players live out
30:10their vengeance through Kratos' eyes and fulfill their promise to bring about the destruction
30:15of Olympus.
30:26Ares, God of War
30:35The original God of War was never going to give up his title willingly, but in a game
30:40where the player has become accustomed to Kratos being mostly OP in many situations,
30:45the final showdown with Ares was quite the wake-up call.
30:48Ares' powerful arena-filling attacks keep Kratos constantly on the move and fighting
30:53to maintain his distance with the Blades of Chaos.
30:57And just when you think the fight is over, Ares will send Kratos into his own mind to
31:01battle his demons and save his family before returning to the real world to bring his vengeance
31:06to Ares full circle.
31:08The newly acquired Sword Bridge doesn't have any of the magic abilities of the Blades,
31:13making this final length of the fight more about defense than offense, but few things
31:18are as satisfying as bringing down the God of War by your own hands.
31:30Sigrun, God of War 2018
31:38You'd think fighting your way through eight Valkyries in an attempt to save their souls
31:43was enough to earn you some mercy with their queen, but you'd be greatly mistaken.
31:48Sigrun begins the battle with a surprise attack, and things really only go downhill from there.
31:53Utilizing all the best attacks of her sisters, but giving them a boost in power, Sigrun rains
31:59hell down upon Kratos and Atreus, and is absolutely relentless in her assault.
32:05The throne room you fight in is one of the smallest Valkyrie arenas in the game, and
32:09leaves very little room to retreat and regroup, as Sigrun will mercilessly hunt Kratos to
32:15every corner.
32:16She might be grateful at the end of the fight, but she will definitely make you work for
32:21it.
32:30Berserker King, God of War Ragnarok
32:38Those who managed to complete the challenge of the Valkyries in God of War 2018 had no
32:43idea what else was waiting for them on the eve of Ragnarok.
32:48Kratos and his companions will have to fight their way through a gauntlet of twelve Berserkers
32:52in order to reach King Rolf, and he does everything in his power to make Kratos regret making
32:57it this far.
32:59The Berserker King has numerous ranged attacks based on the previous Berserkers Kratos faced
33:04to keep him at bay, as well as incredibly powerful frost and bifrost attacks, and once
33:10his health is whittled down to half, he'll hide his health bar until Kratos attacks with

33:17Make sure to bring a resurrection stone for this one, you're going to need it.
33:29Gnaw, God of War Ragnarok
33:42If you thought the challenge of the Valkyries ended with Sigrun, then Gnaw would like a
33:47word with you.
33:48After the conclusion of God of War Ragnarok, Kratos and Freya will encounter Gnaw in Muspelheim,
33:54and the newly crowned Queen of the Valkyries is not at all happy about her position becoming
33:58null and void after the fall of Asgard.
34:01Gnaw is every bit as fierce as Sigrun, but somehow even more aggressive.
34:07She has some of the strongest defenses of any enemy within the game, and won't hesitate
34:12to cover the arena in deadly bifrost, in addition to using her razor-bladed wings and leaping
34:18ground pound attacks.
34:20As her health gets lower, her attacks become even more unpredictable, and if the player
34:25hasn't mastered the counter and parry system, Kratos will go down for the count faster than
34:30Freya can revive him.
34:32Ever the proud warrior, Gnaw was never going to admit defeat.
