01:12:34Okay.
01:12:36Okay.
01:12:38Wait, sorry.
01:12:40I love classic DOS games I really do and I mean Zork is my favorite series it's
01:12:51been a long time since I played the text adventure but that's really only because
01:12:58I have a lot of it memorized so I play it at my brain I guess it's what you
01:13:04could say and I think it's absolutely fantastic you know but that's my point
01:13:11is that I love these games and I think that
01:13:26um you know well what am I trying to say not all DOS games are good not by far
01:13:40they really aren't the classic DOS games yeah everybody talks about them but keep
01:13:47in mind there were thousands of DOS games right and the fact that the only
01:13:58the only thing here for Akalabeth the only reason why it it's even known is
01:14:05that it was the first attempt really at first person
01:14:12a first person dungeon diving right and it's absolute trash it's absolute trash
01:14:21the time goes by quicker than it should
01:14:28you can't go anywhere without constantly starving and then you starve to death
01:14:34it's like built for speedrunners who have everything mapped out perfectly it
01:14:40is not built for anyone else and it's so funny because speedrunning didn't
01:14:45really exist back then I mean it must have existed to a degree you know but not
01:14:53like it does today right like everybody who's anybody you know when they play
01:15:00games they always try to beat it with the fastest time possible so that that's
01:15:04always existed you know whether it's poker whether it's Senate you know one
01:15:16of the oldest board games ever people try to play as fast as they can because
01:15:25it shows off their agility and their natural intelligence and their
01:15:28familiarity with the game right that there's it's like a trifecta right you
01:15:34know so but when I what I mean is it's not
01:15:45it's not like speedrunning is today you know charts all that stuff and it's just
01:15:53that that game really was built for only one mode of play only one there there's
01:16:02no other mode of play oh I've backed up too fast
01:16:08oh good I killed him that was a mistake but I killed him
01:16:21so you get what I'm saying but then after that you have Ultima and you have
01:16:29Might and Magic or you know Heroes of Might and Magic whatever but you get my
01:16:37what I'm saying there's Dungeons and Dragons had competition you know it had
01:16:43a lot of competition
01:16:47I'm just saying that this game specifically is very much
01:16:57treasure this game specifically is very much modeled after dungeon hack very
01:17:07specifically dungeon hack and while it doesn't have like the random seed table
01:17:17that dungeon hack had it as it allows you to make your own dungeons and share
01:17:22them with your friends and now that is super cool right insert obligatory I
01:17:32wish my friend were still alive today so we could do just that
01:17:39like a little brother to me I'm sure that some of you somewhere listening to
01:17:49this
01:17:51you know of somebody who is like that to you little brother little sister
01:18:02you
01:18:15well
01:18:23he's been gone for almost 10 years now
01:18:28feels like I every once while when I look at my friends list I want to see
01:18:33if he's there
01:18:38that never goes away
01:18:49you know I just have to say something I am you know it's something that a lot of
01:18:56girls have said to me to specifically girls this happens more with girls than
01:19:01anyone else
01:19:05feed me
01:19:09I've had oh secret sniffer and slimed found 25 secrets and I've been slimed
01:19:17LGBT storylines are incredibly important they really are there's no
01:19:27but you know they're very important the issue that is popping up though is that
01:19:33writers are making it so that anybody who has a deep friendship or strong
01:19:40friendship with someone they're immediately making it an LGBT
01:19:46relationship that goes for it's been happening a lot more with women than
01:19:50anything else and on one hand I mean that is very important to show LGBT
01:19:56relationships there is no doubt about that there is no contention there
01:20:02what is also important is showing heterosexual deep friendships in
01:20:13fantasy and stories I have a couple characters that are LGBT that was
01:20:18preparing to write and then it was like the marketplace got flooded with them
01:20:23keep in mind I'm a straight guy right so anything I write would be from my
01:20:29perspective of speaking with friends and people I know and trying to craft a
01:20:35character out of that that's what writers do and sometimes I've been told
01:20:40I've been told that I do it very successfully
01:20:46you know just for all sorts of characters but I only do it successfully
01:20:52because I do a critical amount of research and if one of my friends or
01:20:57someone I know says you know that's not really how such a relationship would
01:21:01work out I'd say okay and I delete whatever I wrote because if it's not how
01:21:09that relationship would work out it doesn't belong on the page no questions
01:21:14asked well no I do ask some questions I actually ask quite a few questions many
01:21:19questions asked no resistance offered that's that's a better term than no
01:21:26questions asked right no resistance offered so
01:21:37the purpose of what I'm saying here is that
01:21:42I've held back on those characters
01:21:48because the marketplace is flooded with those characters and those types of
01:21:55characters LGBT romance you know etc we're not necessarily romance you know I
01:22:01say romance it sounds like a Harlequin novel I write romantic stories which is
01:22:10different than romance right romance is heaving bosoms and Fabio I write like
01:22:19romantic stories kind of like shop around the corner that type of thing I
01:22:25don't have any for sale anymore I took them down because I think some of them
01:22:29need to be reworked but you know some of my characters
01:22:41the LGBT characters I was going to you know write fantasy you know fantasy
01:22:46characters it's not it's not like the skin you know like I said it's not
01:22:52they're not Harlequin so it's more like actual relationship connections between
01:22:57people and I I don't anyway you get what I mean and I put a kibosh on it because
01:23:07what isn't represented now like it used to be our strong friendships you know
01:23:16like like my friend Dave he was he's like my little brother right when I say
01:23:25I cared about him or I loved him like a family member I loved him like a brother
01:23:29that's what I mean there's no hidden value to it that is missing in a lot of
01:23:40ways and something else that some of my friends who are LGBT they point it and
01:23:45pointed out they said not only is it in the inundated the marketplace inundated
01:23:52with LGBT romance stories or romantic stories but they won't allow us to have
01:23:59just good friendships with people that we are not physically attracted to even
01:24:03if we're both gay or lesbian or whatever and so I've had friends it's
01:24:10heterosexual and homosexual you know LGBT say that to me
01:24:17you know in research for doing books and I was thinking about I thought you know
01:24:24what that is absolutely true like the only time you find those relationships
01:24:29aren't a lot of kid oriented programming where sex is not addressed there's no
01:24:37adult relationships like that or they're very few or like in like deep
01:24:48fantasy and by deep fantasy what I mean is something more than just swords
01:24:54cutting people and oh we've marched on the morrow type of crap like thought
01:25:02before vote in provoking fantasy or fantasy which has a lot more meaning to
01:25:06it like they go whole hog into sexualization and there are very few
01:25:16times where they actually develop friendships that are not romanticized
01:25:22and so the characters that I really love I thought they're great you know I
01:25:31planned them out prepared to write them all of a sudden it's like that is not
01:25:38what the market needs you know that's not what I should be writing I should be
01:25:41writing about friendships about people caring for each other whether or not one
01:25:46curtain person is you know whether or not let's say there are two gay men on a
01:25:51superhero team no they're not going to have a romantic relationship but they
01:25:55can be like brofist you know and same thing with heterosexual members of the
01:26:04team they could be best buds without there needing to be oh well he had a
01:26:09crush on him like no no none of that none of that crap there needs to be more
01:26:14stories about friendships strong bonds you know family familial bonds or
01:26:25maybe not that strong but really good friendships and people just you know the
01:26:31developing and exploring those things in in works you know and so I've been
01:26:38trying to figure out about
01:26:42there are several things that I want to write and I've been thinking about that
01:26:46for a while
01:26:50and so
01:26:55yeah I mean that's oh you know you know but this qualifies as a children's show
01:27:01Steven Universe Steven Universe explored a lot of what I'm talking about very
01:27:06strong friendships of people who are not sexually attracted to each other and
01:27:10Steven Universe had very adult themes to it and they had the equivalent of sex
01:27:16without it being sex right but again it's a kid show it's not an adult
01:27:24oriented or I should say mature audience show no adult makes it sound
01:27:30like sex so maybe we should say mature audience fantasy it's more like
01:27:37sexualized fantasy you know Game of Thrones was soft porn that's what it was
01:27:42and some episodes hardcore porn or maybe not hardcore but porn just you know
01:27:52that's why I did not really care for it like they they had a chance to develop a
01:27:57strong fantasy without doing that stuff like Lord of the Rings I think is the
01:28:02last fantasy show that I saw that was for families that was very mature in
01:28:08nature but also open to children I say children but you know like eight and
01:28:15above it was less when I saw that had very strong friendships without them
01:28:22being romanticized you know of course you're always gonna have people say
01:28:26Frodo and Sam were lovers like no they weren't and that there's nothing to do
01:28:34with any views on LGBT Frodo and Sam were like brothers all right but that's
01:28:43like the last time that I've seen something like that in a mature fantasy
01:28:52you know but that needs to be reinforced for from a societal point right it needs
01:29:01to be reinforced that you can have two people who are gay have very very strong
01:29:07friendship and at the same time not have sex with each other because they don't
01:29:13see each other that way. I got friends from everywhere and a lot of my LGBT
01:29:29friends have told me that that is something that really pisses them off
01:29:33like the whole promiscuous gay people are promiscuous myth that was that was
01:29:42spread about the LGBT communities decades ago back in the 50s back in the
01:29:4840s etc 100 years ago to demonize them they're all promiscuous you need to
01:29:54watch out you know you know why can't you have a gay guy and a guy who isn't
01:30:04gay being best friends neither one attracted to each other right instead
01:30:11what you usually have in modern Hollywood is the gay guy secretly has a
01:30:16crush on the straight guy and then it turns into trouble
01:30:22that's just insulting to everybody involved right
01:30:29but first of all let's say he does why does that spell trouble are you saying
01:30:37that they're not both adults and they can't address it
01:30:43I've had to address something like that in my life I said hey man you know
01:30:52appreciate it you know I think you're awesome but I said yeah I know you're
01:30:58straight that was the conversation
01:31:03right
01:31:08so it's a sensitive subject because when people bring it up accusations might be
01:31:18thrown about oh you don't like gay people oh you don't like straight people
01:31:22oh you're against this no no quite frankly the exact opposite I really
01:31:30wanted to write my stories but I'm not because the marketplace is already full
01:31:36of them what the marketplace needs now are strong friendships familial bonds
01:31:43without any sexual context right and I'm looking at the game right now
01:31:55I'm getting some really terrible friggin I mean I've got a fantastic graphics
01:32:02driver and I'm getting some terrible freakin
01:32:10thanks tablet mode oh cool this game was also
01:32:15released on tablets oh that's pretty awesome texture filtering shadow quality
01:32:21no
01:32:25Wow getting some weird like artifacting on here
01:32:33oh well doesn't matter
01:32:38look like that should not be looking the way it does like the weird little I
01:32:44don't know anyway so I just wanted to share my thoughts on fantasy state of
01:32:50fantasy and I mean anybody who knows me knows that coming like read John Rocket
01:32:57you know read John Rocket John Rocket is has a plethora of characters from all
01:33:05walks of life I don't think in the first volume although I had a planned later on
01:33:13first volume I don't have anybody that I indicate to be LGBT that's not there
01:33:21that's because I've got like ten plot lines already in the book six of them
01:33:29are subsidiary plot lines or not subsidiary secondary tertiary plot lines
01:33:36some of them will never get resolved because it's like a day in the life of a
01:33:40guy but you know it focuses on Millie and issues that Millie had you know you
01:33:50can only put so much in a novel right but you know I I strongly believe I
01:33:57strongly believe in representation
01:34:02you know appropriate representation time you know when I'm doing historical
01:34:06fiction appropriate representation in terms of story terms of era cetera so
01:34:16when I do an LGBT character John Rocket I'm going to make sure that I do it
01:34:21right you know yeah so I mean I believe in all those things but I also believe
01:34:30that people need to view thing yeah there needs if I write something it
01:34:34needs to be different right which also explains why I don't have a publishing
01:34:40contract I'm always too different anyway so those are just my ideas my
01:34:50thoughts on fantasy and what the heck is this guy gonna come on are these statues
01:34:55gonna like chop me to bits
01:35:00I don't think so
01:35:05anyway
01:35:11so I love y'all this is a super long episode I hope you you know if you guys
01:35:19want to share any thoughts with me about the state of fantasy and creation you
01:35:27know what people need what is out there love to hear you love to hear it
01:35:36but yeah please share your thoughts your opinions because when I write I try to
01:35:45write about a bunch of things I want to do a game about my half demon character
01:35:51in Wild Wild West it's that one is more like not so serious it's more like James
01:35:58West and Wild Wild West or Brett Maverick that sort of thing only with
01:36:01demons I don't think I'm gonna be dealing with any sort of serious
01:36:05relationship issues with that I'm gonna be dealing with general societal issues
01:36:11in there which is what Brett Maverick and Wild Wild West did you know anyway
01:36:20so yeah share your thoughts share your ideas I'd love to hear them I'd love to
01:36:25hear what you have to say about what I was thinking
01:36:32you know I I want to make sure that whenever I do I do it right I do it
01:36:35correctly I do what is needed for the market that's that's my belief
01:36:42you know what I think it's needed otherwise I'll feel like I'm wasting
01:36:46myself you know wasting my writing anyway take care everybody love y'all
01:36:50see ya bye
01:36:55you
