Tesla Cybertruck VS Rezvani Vengeance: Battle Of T..

  • last month
What's tougher than a Tesla Cybertruck? Not many cars, that's for sure. Except maybe the bonkers Rezvani Vengeance; a bullet-proof, bomb-proof, thief-proof, electric shocking, smoke screening, Goliath of a car. But which of these two cartoon cars is actually the better bet?

00:00If you're looking for a truck that looks as if it was designed to survive a war zone
00:27or the unexpected and rapid downfall of society, maybe even a zombie apocalypse, well then
00:32conventional logic says you should go for the brilliantly bonkers Tesla Cybertruck.
00:37Mad isn't it?
00:38But what if I told you there was an alternative?
00:42Another brilliantly anti-apocalyptic set of wheels that might just give Elon's favourite
00:47a bit of a run for its money.
00:49Yes, long before the Tesla Cybertruck was a twinkle in Elon Musk's eye, the Resvani
00:55Vengeance was busy triggering double takes from anyone who came across it.
01:01Only two years separate them, and while both are very different cars with distinct target
01:05audiences, both have a lot in common, particularly their ability to attract an audience who simply
01:11like to flex.
01:14By the way, if you're interested in flexing in a brand new vehicle of your choosing, don't
01:18forget to check out autotrader.co.uk, we've got a massive range of pickup trucks, vans
01:23and other commercial vehicles all available to buy and lease.
01:26Check out the link down below.
01:28Today we're in California, where they invented flexing, that's showing off in case you're
01:33wondering, to find out the differences and similarities between these two titans.
01:37It's a clash of the flex machines, and we're gonna start with the big dog, the Resvani
01:41Vengeance.
01:45If you're unfamiliar with a Vengeance, that's completely understandable.
01:49It's usually aimed at people who are constantly being shot at, blown up or kidnapped.
01:54In other words, dictators and celebrities.
01:56Underneath, it's a Cadillac Escalade, but it's been completely re-engineered with a
02:00lot more features.
02:03It was designed by a graphic artist called Milan Ivanov, who amongst other things, specializes
02:09in creating cartoons and graphics for video games.
02:12So he connected with Resvani to bring the Vengeance to life, and it looks like it literally
02:17fell out of a comic book.
02:19And it's littered with comic book style features.
02:21I'll show you around, shall I?
02:23First thing you notice is this enormous, solid front bumper, so you can barge people out
02:28the way.
02:29You've got this nice little winch here, which is powerful enough to tow 12,000 pounds.
02:34That's 5.4 tons, or around two Cybertrucks.
02:39And you get a couple of these nice, big towing points with the Resvani logo etched inside.
02:45Now, around the side, you get 22-inch wheels with 35-inch military-grade tyres, which look
02:52fantastic.
02:53Plus, this is a great feature, bulletproof doors.
02:57And not just the doors, the glass is ballistic glass too, and it's got a unique touch.
03:02Normally, when you have bulletproof glass, it won't wind down, but Resvani have managed
03:06to fit a more powerful motor, so it does wind down.
03:09Unfortunately, you've got to get in, turn it on, and get the electrics going in order
03:16for it to move.
03:17But look how thick that is.
03:19It's absolutely ridiculous.
03:21And that isn't even the maddest bit.
03:26Let's say I'm driving along, flexing, and somebody wants to do me harm.
03:30On my command, the Vengeance will deliver a little surprise.
03:33110 volts of shock therapy from its electrified door handles.
03:40Oh, it looks painful.
03:41But let's just say the bad guy is, like, really determined.
03:44This car also comes with actual pepper spray in the wing mirrors that you can deploy in
03:48their actual faces.
03:55I love it.
03:57If for some reason they survive that and still want to get to you, the Vengeance has magnetic
04:02deadbolts to prevent the doors being opened by anyone that isn't the Incredible Hulk.
04:08And if they decide to try explosives, you can have either level 4 or level 6 ballistic
04:12protection, so it can survive being blown up.
04:18But that is not all.
04:20Because the Vengeance is based on a Cadillac Escalade, it has a lot of seats, up to eight.
04:25And it comes with a few interesting accessories, including up to eight bulletproof vests, up
04:33to eight helmets, and up to eight gas masks in case things get, you know, spicy on the
04:41school run.
04:42Fans of Mr. Beast may remember that this was the exact car that was blown up on that channel.
04:48Barring a few cosmetic repairs and the petrol cap coming loose, it managed to survive quite
04:53nicely.
04:55And speaking of spice, the Vengeance can get gassy too.
04:58Literally.
04:59The Vengeance has a built-in smoke machine, which, when you rev the engine and get the
05:03exhaust hot enough, can produce an enormous amount of smoke, leaving your enemies wondering
05:08where the hell that giant six-ton cartoon SUV went.
05:15But is that enough to leave the Vengeance's very distant cousin, the Cybertruck, in its
05:20dust?
05:21Well, it's easy to make the assumption that Tesla's most bonkers creation yet is less
05:26impressive than the Resvani.
05:29It's not built for war, it doesn't come with bulletproof vests and helmets as accessories,
05:34but somehow the Cybertruck still manages to look like something out of a sci-fi movie.
05:39Quite fitting, because the Cybertruck was first unveiled in November 2019 in Los Angeles,
05:44the same month, year and place that Blade Runner was set.
05:50It is very different to the Vengeance, but somehow just as mad.
05:57Maybe even madder.
05:58And I think it all comes down to the, frankly, absurd shape of the thing.
06:02It's all angles and points.
06:04We're kind of programmed to appreciate a car when it has lots of amazing curves, but this
06:09just rips up the rulebook completely.
06:12If the Vengeance was designed by a comic book artist trying to create something to appeal
06:16to children, this looks like it was designed by children.
06:22The Cybertruck is not bomb-proof, but it is very, very rugged.
06:26Apparently, it's bulletproof and can withstand a load of other punishment, including an impact
06:32from a baseball.
06:35An impact from a baseball bat.
06:43That's fine, apparently.
06:45And even an impact from a foot.
06:48Yeah, that is definitely one of the toughest cars I've ever seen, but it is a little bit
06:54rough around the edges.
06:56Take a look at this.
06:57Up here, you can literally peel a carrot.
07:01I've never, ever seen any other car do that before.
07:04And also, there's a safety issue.
07:06So check this out, all right?
07:08Carrot, door, carrot destroyed.
07:13And speaking of doors, back here, that is actually closed, and you can see the panels
07:19simply don't line up.
07:21When I'm driving this car and looking in the wing mirror, it looks like the door is actually
07:25open, but it's not.
07:27If you need more space in your Cybertruck, don't worry, it is, of course, a pickup truck,
07:31and that means you get loads of room in the back.
07:34So if I hop up here, I can actually move this electrically operated tonneau cover, and it's
07:39strong too.
07:40I can hop up and it holds 300 pounds of weight.
07:44Actually makes for a pretty decent treadmill as well.
07:47Not only that, but it also has a hidden underfloor storage area, which allows you to pretty much
07:54store whatever you want.
07:55In this case, I've got a bunch of ice, dump it in.
08:01Once that's in, you can load it up with as many drinks as you want.
08:06This makes for the perfect barbecue car, and there's even a drain plug underneath, brilliant.
08:18This particular Cybertruck is modified by LA-based Tesla Mod Company Unplugged Performance,
08:23the same team that was responsible for the world's fastest Tesla, Dark Helmet.
08:28This invincible setup is designed to take the off-road credentials of the Cybertruck
08:32to new levels, with beadlock rims that use bolts to secure the tyre to the rim, allowing
08:37you to air down to as low as 5 psi for more grip off-road, plus the option of a host of
08:43other accessories planned for the future.
08:46Inside the Cybertruck is pure Tesla, minimalist and clean.
08:50You get space for five passengers, three in the very spacious rear, which includes
08:54a dedicated screen for watching Netflix, YouTube or controlling the ventilation.
08:58And then in the front, you have the biggest screen in a Tesla thus far, 18 inches in fact,
09:04and it's incredibly fast, responsive and clear.
09:07It's also got arguably the best sound system I've ever heard in any car, and that is massively
09:14high praise.
09:15It sounds phenomenal.
09:16Plus it's got all the usual Tesla extras, emissions mode, farting, romance mode, a sketchpad,
09:23and even Trax, which is like a music generator that lets you park up and create your own
09:29tunes.
09:40But as good as that sounds, the Vengeance makes a pretty decent noise of its own.
09:46So what we're listening to is a 6.2 litre pushrod V8, similar to the one you get in
09:52the standard Cadillac Escalade.
09:55Here it's making 420 horsepower and 620 newton metres of torque.
10:01That's quite a lot of torque and it does shift along quite nicely, but it isn't as quick
10:06as you might expect because in its lightest form, without all the level four or level
10:11six ballistic protection, this car weighs 2.8 tonnes.
10:16But if you want to go quicker, don't worry, Rizvani have a couple of tricks up their sleeve
10:19for that.
10:23For $55,000 extra, you can get a supercharged version of this engine making 620 horsepower.
10:30But if you've got $125,000, they'll supercharge it to a whopping 810 horsepower.
10:36According to MyMaths, that's $320 per additional horsepower.
10:42Do you really need a car with 810 horsepower?
10:46The answer's probably not, but Rizvani's attitude is, hey, we can, so we will.
10:52So if you're in the position of buying this car, I think you might as well, really.
10:58No matter what engine you go for, you're probably not going to want to drive too quickly in
11:03this car because it's not built for cornering.
11:06Cast your mind back to a year ago when we drove the sportiest version of the Cadillac
11:10Escalade, the Escalade V, around a racetrack.
11:14It felt a bit like you were driving a piano around the racetrack.
11:17And this car, even in its lightest form, is 2.8 tonnes, so it's all about just cruising
11:23along and enjoying yourself.
11:25If people get in your way, you might want to use the torque to push them along.
11:29But the point is to drive slowly so everyone appreciates the design and sees you.
11:39The cabin is pretty luxurious, as we know from the Escalade.
11:42One of the highlights is the fact that you get this lovely three-segment display.
11:46On the right-hand side, you've got all your infotainment controls.
11:49On the left, you've got all your trip information.
11:51And then in the centre, you've got a nice, big, forward-facing display that shows you
11:57the road ahead.
11:59Now, the Vengeance does have a few extra bits of bodywork, including a huge front bonnet.
12:06And that can make the visibility suffer somewhat, but Resvani have included a couple of extra
12:10bits.
12:11In total, there are 20 cameras scattered all around this car, and you get these two displays
12:16up on top of the dashboard that show you the extremities of the vehicle.
12:21And that definitely reduces the chances of, you know, running over things or people.
12:29Of course, there are also loads of Resvani-specific touches in the Vengeance, including a Resvani
12:34logo on the steering wheel, all the aforementioned buttons, so the front and rear blinding lights,
12:39strobe lights, shocking doors, smoke screen, pepper spray.
12:44And if you look in the centre compartment here, what you'll find is there's a safe.
12:48A safe for what?
12:50A gun, apparently.
12:52And then you've also got a loud hailer, and this red button is for a siren.
12:56How cool is that?
12:58And there's a second siren down here, too.
13:01That is tremendous.
13:05So after you've pepper sprayed and electrocuted people, you can get on the blower and apologise
13:10to them afterwards.
13:11Yeah, sorry about that.
13:15Flaws and downsides?
13:16Well, with the extra weight, it's clearly not as nice to drive as the car it's based on.
13:21The handling is questionable, and the thought of being in a rollover accident with the dead
13:26bolts activated whilst this car electrocutes anyone who tries to come to your aid is not
13:31something I'd want to contemplate too often.
13:40So what's it like to drive the Cybertruck?
13:44Probably the most over-hyped car in probably ever.
13:49First impressions?
13:50I actually quite like it.
13:52This is a bit of me.
13:53I'm enjoying this.
13:57So it comes in a couple of flavours.
13:59First of all, there's the top-dog tri-motor 845 horsepower Cyberbeast, which can do 0-60
14:06in 2.8 seconds.
14:08Totally unnecessary for a pickup truck.
14:15And then there's a slightly more sensible dual-motor car.
14:18That's the one I'm in today, which has 593 horsepower and can do 0-60 in 3.8 seconds.
14:25Equally idiotic, but yeah, the power is addictive.
14:29That's fun.
14:35So it's definitely quicker than the Resivani Vengeance, but actually the performance in
14:38a straight line isn't the first thing that you notice in this car.
14:42What you notice first is the steering, because it behaves, frankly, weirdly.
14:47Because it's doing different things at different speeds.
14:50So it's the first ever car, according to Tesla, that has a completely drive-by-wire system.
14:55In other words, there's no physical connection between the steering wheel, or the yoke, and
15:00the front wheels.
15:01In fact, the rear wheels as well, because it's got rear-wheel steer.
15:07Obviously Tesla might have forgotten that the Infiniti Q50 from about 10 years ago also
15:11had a drive-by-wire system, but I'm not going to argue with Elon Musk.
15:15I'll just tell you what the steering feels like.
15:18When you're driving at fairly normal speeds, it feels quite direct, which is what you'd
15:22expect from a Tesla.
15:24So little inputs give you quite big reactions, but then when you slow down, something really
15:30odd happens.
15:31Watch this.
15:32So look, I'll come to a stop, and then I'll turn the wheel.
15:35Normally, you've got to turn the wheel a couple of turns to get it to go full lock, but that
15:41is completely full lock, and not only is it turning the front wheel, it's also turning
15:44the rears as well, and it's lightning fast.
15:47That's bonkers.
15:53And then when you back up to speed, the ratio changes again, and it behaves like a much
15:57more normal car.
15:59Such a weird system, but very cool.
16:06When you're driving it quickly, it does feel a lot more athletic and nimble than the Resivani
16:10Vengeance.
16:11It corners fairly well.
16:13It stays quite flat, actually, and it's a lot of fun to drive, but you do have to remember
16:18that the Cybertruck does weigh three tonnes.
16:23So at some point, if you get a bit too enthusiastic, you're going to be carrying a bit too much
16:27speed into a corner, and then that's when you'll discover the brakes maybe aren't the
16:31sharpest in the world.
16:38So remember, this car is modified by Unplugged Performance.
16:41They call it the Up Invincible, and ironically, you do get a sense of invincibility when you're
16:47driving this car, because it kind of feels like it's quite a good off-roader, and it
16:51gives you the sense that you can literally just go off-road pretty much at any point
16:55you fancy.
16:56So look at this.
16:57Yeah, here we go.
16:58Currently driving off-road, going round a tree, not a care in the world, and I'll rejoin
17:03the road, and it just soaks it up.
17:08A couple of things in this car that really annoy me, visibility out the front is pretty
17:14useless.
17:15You've got these massive A-pillars.
17:16You do have these little quarter panels that give you some extra visibility, but the size
17:20of these pillars at the front, and also the size of your wing mirrors, means that it can
17:25be quite tricky to see when you're pulling out of junctions, for example.
17:30Also, when the rear tunnel cover is up, you can't see out the back.
17:33It literally blocks everything, and you've got a tiny, tiny rear view mirror here, so
17:37even when it's down, you still can't see anything, to the point where Tesla have installed
17:41a permanent feed for the rear camera directly on this 18-inch display, but that is terrible
17:48in the daytime and useless at night.
17:50It's really, really bad.
17:54Most of the Cybertruck's weight comes from the enormous 123-kilowatt-hour battery pack,
17:59which gives the truck a range of 340 miles in the dual-motor version, or 320 for the
18:04Cyberbeast.
18:05Understandably, a full charge takes longer than the smaller batteries in Tesla's other
18:10vehicles, 44 minutes versus 32 minutes in something like a Model 3.
18:15Just don't ask where you're going to find a charging station in the event we do actually
18:18have a real apocalypse.
18:24Having said all of that, I absolutely love this thing.
18:27It is super interesting.
18:29People criticise the design, they say it's a bit too weird, it's a bit too out there,
18:33but look at all these cookie-cutter, jelly-bean-shaped electric cars on the market, and tell me they're
18:39interesting.
18:40Honestly, they're not.
18:41Compared to this, this is absolutely fantastic.
18:44I love the fact that Tesla are doing something different, and this thing attracts attention
18:48like you would not believe.
18:50If you want to make a statement, and you want to attract attention, and you want to flex,
18:54there is nothing better than a Cybertruck.
19:07So, which one of these two ridiculous titans should you go for?
19:11Well, if money's an issue, the obvious choice is the Tesla Cybertruck.
19:15It's only $80,000, and for that, you get a car that's bulletproof, kickproof, batproof,
19:21bulletproof, and a car that attracts attention like you would not believe.
19:25However, if you want a vehicle that can help you survive being maimed and injured, while
19:30simultaneously maiming and injuring those who try to maim and injure you, there's an
19:34obvious choice.
19:35It is, of course, the Risvani Vengeance.
19:38Which would I go for?
19:39Well, I'm afraid they're both completely and utterly ridiculous, and on that basis, I'm
19:45going to have to have both.
19:51You
