00:00The pretty fantastic backdrop of the Alvarez, the Hotel des Alvarez behind us and Tamerack Toulouse
00:05not winning just gold here in Paris after winning bronze last time he was in the podium in the
00:10olympics was in Rio but he's also smashed that olympic record two hours six minutes and 22
00:16seconds might not sound like that much of an incredible time for one of the top world's
00:21top marathon runners but in fact consider this that this was one of the toughest perhaps the
00:25toughest actually uh routes that the marathonians uh the marathon runners have had to take over
00:30today uh just because this was far from a flat route as we've seen over the past editions there
00:35was actually a huge huge huge amount of climbs for them to reach over 400 meters to climb and
00:41also to descent and Tolo managed to do that finishing well ahead we watched him just arrive
00:47here uh well ahead of the others still in fine shape and he's just well gone onto the podium to
00:51go and collect that gold medal and uh and I say it was tough because of course with uh all that we
00:57were wondering where is Eliud Kipchoge not the defending champion the twice the double defending
01:01champion the man who won gold uh in Tokyo gold in Rio well Kipchoge was unable actually to climb
01:08that big climb that I mentioned to you uh just to the west of Paris the Monte de la Peve de Garde
01:12which is actually very close to where you're sitting uh right now uh Yuka he was unable to get
01:17any further than that to the great surprise but a big win for Tolo for the Ethiopian man today
