00:15I'm Charles Nelson Riley, and I've got a secret.
00:18But I'm not telling.
00:19What I am doing is watching all the final episodes of great game shows before the world ends.
00:30And for 15 years, it was bad grammar.
00:33The contraction, I've, means I have.
00:36Thus making the title, I have got a secret, well, that's just plain wrong.
00:40And as a result, I've got a secret went off the air after the April 3rd, 1967 show, which you are about to see.
00:47Now here's our wonderful Steve Allen, albeit grammatically challenged, I've got a secret.
00:56Lynn Redgrave, and I've got a secret.
00:59I've got a secret.
01:01Brought to you by Pegla, the new medicated formula for psoriasis sufferers that gives three-way relief from the symptoms of psoriasis.
01:12From New York, here is I've got a secret, starring Steve Allen.
01:18Thank you very much.
01:20Howdy, Steve and John.
01:22And welcome, indeed, to another edition of I've got a secret.
01:25Now that we've met Miss Lynn Redgrave, we'll be back shortly.
01:28Let's meet the members of our panel, who are, of course, Betsy Palmer, Bill Cullen, Beth Meyerson, and Henry Morgan.
01:37That's our panel.
01:40And now it's time to meet our first contestant tonight, who happens to be way up there on about the 8th floor.
01:45Are you going to come down? I guess not. I'll probably have to go right up to you.
01:55You know, it's pretty scary up here, I'll be honest with you.
01:58It's a little scary.
02:00It's a little scary.
02:02It's a little scary.
02:04It's a little scary.
02:07You know, it's pretty scary up here, I'll be honest with you.
02:09Would you tell us your name, sir, and where you're from?
02:11I'm Stephen McPeak, and I attend Seattle Pacific College in Seattle, Washington.
02:16All right. I hope you will live to attend it again.
02:19Do you mind if I ask you immediately why we are up here?
02:23Because I've got a secret.
02:25You've got a secret? Well, in that case, then, you might as well whisper it to me.
02:28We'll show the audience what it is.
02:31Well, the clue to Mr. McPeak's secret panel concerns, of course, why he's up here,
02:36and we'll start the game, and let's make it a quick game, panel.
02:38I'm not too thrilled to be up here.
02:40We'll start the game with Bess Meyers.
02:42Steve, are you going...
02:46Is anything going to happen to any of the partitions that are visible to us?
02:49Are they going to be visible to us?
02:51Are they going to be visible to us?
02:53Are they going to be visible to us?
02:55Are they going to be visible to us?
02:58What's going to happen to any of the partitions that are visible to us?
03:00Are they going to open up in any way?
03:02No.
03:04I see. Now, are you going to...
03:06There's a pole that protrudes.
03:08Are you going to shimmy down the pole?
03:10No.
03:12Are you going to come down the ladder?
03:14No.
03:16Are you going to, at any point, not have your feet on anything?
03:18Are you going to be suspended?
03:20No.
03:22I mean, you're not going to dive.
03:24There's no water in that tank or anything, is there?
03:26$20 down, $60 to go.
03:28Henry Morgan?
03:30Steve, does the ladder move?
03:32No.
03:34I hope not, for both of our sakes.
03:36Are you going to remove yourself from where you are now?
03:38Yes.
03:40Are you going to end up on the ground?
03:42No.
03:46Are you going into that thing?
03:48No.
03:50Well, when you move, are you going up?
03:52No.
03:55Let me do the first question again.
03:57Are you going to move from where you are now?
03:59Yes.
04:01Are you going to get in with Steve?
04:03No.
04:05You're going to get in with Steve.
04:07$40 down. Betsy?
04:09Stephen,
04:11do you use that pole,
04:13the red pole next to you, for balancing purposes?
04:15No.
04:17Is the pole stationary?
04:19Yes.
04:21The pole won't help you.
04:24Is it concealed behind this paneling?
04:26No.
04:28You're not just going to sit there like that, are you?
04:30This is our secret.
04:32We're sitting here like two idiots.
04:34Are you going to do something on the swing?
04:36Are you going to swing with Steve?
04:38No.
04:40No, baby.
04:42I don't know about that, Steve.
04:44Let's see. Does it have to do with the ladder?
04:46No.
04:48$60 down. Big Bill Cullen?
04:50Steve,
04:53that structure there isn't hiding anything.
04:55Why is it there?
04:57Is there a reason for it being there?
04:59It was the only way he could get up here.
05:01I had the swing.
05:05Were you giving him a lift, for heaven's sake?
05:07You mean you built that whole thing just to get up there?
05:09That's right, believe it or not.
05:11You are going to move from where you are, Steve,
05:13neither up nor down.
05:15He is going to move.
05:17But not up or down?
05:19Correct.
05:22He's going to spin around on something up there.
05:24And faint.
05:26He is going to move around.
05:28He's going to walk on air.
05:30No.
05:32Well, this is quite a tough one.
05:34When you see what Mr. McPeak has brought with him,
05:36panel, you'll understand just why he has to be up here.
05:38Gentlemen, will you bring in the object
05:40to which I refer?
05:42There it is.
05:44It's the world's tallest unicycle.
05:52Now, 20 feet
05:54may not sound like a heck of a lot of feet,
05:56but when you pile one foot up on top of the other,
05:58and believe me, from up here,
06:00it is a heck of a lot of feet.
06:02And it's as high as a unicyclist has ever gone.
06:04And may ever go again.
06:06I'm not going to ask you why you ride it,
06:08Mr. McPeak,
06:10but where did you ever find a 20-foot unicycle?
06:12You don't find these in stores,
06:14but you have to build them.
06:16And I built this one.
06:18I see.
06:20Well, may I ask why?
06:22Well, because I've mastered all of my 6-footer
06:24and 12-footer,
06:26now I have to have the tallest unicycle.
06:28This one.
06:30Oh. Well, if you master this, good luck.
06:32Well, I'd better get out of your way
06:34before I get killed, too.
06:36So, gentlemen, if you'll take me down
06:38and away,
06:40we'll get to that.
06:42The gentleman you will meet down here
06:44on the bottom floor, ladies lingerie and so forth,
06:46is Mr. Gene Grass,
06:49how are you?
06:51My secret is I can't get out of this swing.
06:53How do you do, sir?
06:55This gentleman,
06:57believe it or not,
06:59actually rides on Mr. McPeak's shoulders
07:01while he does this unicycling.
07:03But I'm not joking now.
07:05That, when we saw it this afternoon,
07:07was so scary, we decided not to try it again.
07:09It just scared us all to death.
07:11But we're happy to have you here
07:13and I vouch
07:15that you really can do it.
07:18Now, I'm going to get well out of the way
07:20and, gentlemen, the stage is yours.
07:24This is quite a dramatic thing to witness.
07:26Incidentally, you people out in Washington State
07:28are soon going to be able to see
07:30this remarkable demonstration
07:32in the Saturn Cyclists shows.
07:36It starts out with a frightening move forward.
07:48Now he stops.
07:50Wow.
07:56And he really can do that with the other gentleman
07:58on his shoulders.
08:00But we don't want to let him.
08:08Bravo!
08:18Thank you very much,
08:20Steve McPeak,
08:22for being with us this evening.
08:24It was a fantastic thing.
08:26We'll be back in a minute with more mayhem
08:28after this message.
08:30Wasn't that something?
08:32Lindsey never cleans her shower,
08:34yet it's sparkling clean
08:36every time she gets in it.
08:38Because she's discovered Tylex Fresh Shower brand.
08:40After her shower,
08:42she sprays a gentle mist,
08:44never scrubbing or even rinsing.
08:47You'll never have to clean your shower again.
08:49Now stepping into a clean shower
08:51is even more beautiful.
08:53With new fresh mist scent,
08:55Tylex Fresh Shower brand.
08:57It's a new bottle and a whole new scent.
09:07I have little pieces of rope all over my slide.
09:09Now may we have our next contestants, please.
09:21Nice to have you
09:23with us, gentlemen.
09:25Make yourselves comfortable, if you will.
09:27Move in quite close and tell us your names,
09:29please, and where you're from.
09:31My name is Jack Drucker
09:33and I'm from King Street,
09:35South Carolina.

09:48I'm also from King Street, South Carolina.
09:50Charles Drucker is the second youngest brother.
09:52He is 65 years of age.
09:54Who's next?
09:56I'm Max Drucker from King Street, South Carolina.
09:58And Max, you're 74, is that correct?
10:00That's right.
10:02I'm Harry Drucker and I'm from Miami Beach, Florida.
10:04You are 77.
10:0677, right.
10:08None of you look your age, I must say that.
10:10The four Drucker brothers

10:22...
10:24...
10:26...
10:28...
10:30...
10:32...
10:34The clue to these four gentlemen's
10:36secret concerns the reason that they're in New York,
10:38of course. We'll start the game with Bill Cullen.
10:40...
10:42...
10:44...
10:46...
10:48...
10:50...

11:10depends on what you mean by an event well I mean like a ceremony of some kind
11:16more it's going to be very unceremonious what you're going to happen to Harry
11:22first of all if something going to happen to one or all of the Drucker
11:26brothers something happens to somebody every day you know let's go to the next
11:41question $20 down best well it seems to me that Harry was most eager to say no
11:46when we talked about an event so it's Harry Harry are you specifically
11:51involved in this more than your other brothers now are there four women
11:58involved in this yeah have you seen these women before
12:06are they your wife yeah and I thought maybe you were all here for blind date
12:18interesting guess $40 down Henry Morgan did you bring your wife with you yes
12:25yeah well have fun is there is it an anniversary of any kind no no is are
12:37there other people mentioned in this secret other than your wife no did you
12:45come here for a specific reason that we ought to know yeah it was not however
12:52necessary for them to come here for that reason I don't care I'm finished

14:10married I don't know about all of them but maybe these with sisters according
14:17to my notes here this is of course Charles Drucker and you are Helen his
14:19bride and you think no no no wait a minute you're Jack Drucker yeah see I
14:24almost talked you into it you were the second group to get married were you
14:28and then this must be Max Drucker again of course and his wife Lila May were you
14:33inspired by your brother's marriage no
14:42what does he know now then how did you happen to marry if you don't mind my
14:48ass well she was in business she was my employee for 17 years in the last three
14:53years with my partner oh and that leaves Harry Drucker and you are Florence is
15:03what how did you two meet well we met years ago probably 21 years ago probably

18:07Awards and also named as the best actress of the year by the New York Film
18:12Critics she has just been nominated for an Academy Award for her performance
18:16in Georgie girl currently starring in the Broadway hit black comedy here is
18:21England's gift to America miss Lynn Redgrave
18:35there's a sports thing in this country called the Golden Glove there used to be
18:40now is black comedy your first appearance do you find that there's much
18:47difference between an American audience and a British audience I think audiences
18:55in different towns in any one country vary in an enormous amount and said in
18:59country to country they vary more and it's a great talking point usually with
19:03actors played Broadway and London and we sort of chat away and discuss well we've
19:09done a little chatting about that point ourselves and as Redgrave so we're going
19:12to try a little experiment now based on that idea before the program tonight we
19:16selected 100 people here in our studio audience as a representative group we
19:20gave them a questionnaire to fill out so we could get some information about them
19:25so that we could compare the results with a similar survey that we took with
19:29the television audience in London now in other words we do have a chance to
19:33somewhat scientifically compare two audiences of different nationalities I
19:36have the American results here do you have the results from Britain the panel
19:43here's what we want you to do we'll divide you into two teams let's say
19:47Betsy and Bill against the best and Henry Lynn Redgrave will give you the
19:51results of the survey of our American audience and using that as a guideline
19:56there see if you can guess what the English audience answered to the very
20:00same question when let's start with the first question right well we asked this
20:04to the audience have you ever flown in a plane and out of a hundred 75 said
20:09they have so of the same question to 100 people in the TV studio in London how
20:14many do you think and would you arrive at one answer of course reach you work
20:21as teams and arrive if you would have one answer let me find America Bill and
20:26Betsy say that it we think it's less but we don't know how many we meet you later
20:32after the show perhaps some kind of an answer you know in Europe and they do
20:37fly from country to country so much easier they may tend to fly a little bit
20:40more than we do that's in that much less that can build if we never yes Henry
20:49Bess and I have a disagreed agreed to agree she says 35 I say 25 for the
20:58answers from a typical American studio audience you want to say 30 and every
21:01so we say 30 for an English studio in Betsy and I disagree too but I wrote
21:06down 67 all right I don't know what it means nothing
21:26men and 20 women yeah okay what's the second question well we asked this
21:32audience have you ever been to England and 23 people said they have we asked a
21:37hundred people in England have you ever been to America Betsy and Bill are
21:43putting their heads together as our best in Henry what do you say Bill we say 15
21:50betsy give me a break it's 15 and the other difference here doesn't even do
21:55the percentage of numbers on the team we our difference is pretty dramatic I say
22:01eight and that says 18 we could split it down the middle and we'll take 18
22:11well you're all wrong again fine oh I should have stuck with my eight good
22:17night yeah yeah well we're not winning anything two women went to England
22:23America now this one's kind of a good question we asked this audience did you
22:29go to church last Sunday 47 probably lying said they did we start the same
22:35question of a hundred people in England all honest upright Britishers how many
22:42here 47 here in the United States yeah okay we just talked it over and decided
22:51that you lying British said 65 what do you say Bill and we think London is not
22:56much to do on Sunday so 80 we took this is an interesting answer well you've not
23:00been in London or England for a long time since five people went of course we
23:09checked into this American figure of 47% and discovered that of that group 12%
23:15went there to rob the poor box what's the next next funny this audience has
23:21asked have you ever met a president of the United States I suppose that means
23:26any old president yes and 22 said they did and so we asked an English TV
23:34audience have you ever met your Queen and I suppose that means this specific
23:38Queen and she's been Queen for quite a long time so what do you think and it
23:43means me you really mean me yeah okay as long as it doesn't mean just waving on
23:51the street yeah from it could have been at a large garden party yeah I'm
23:56surprised that 22% of the Americans have met a president all right what's the
24:03answer from the Betsy and Bill we came up with a fast for 4% of met the Queen
24:09none none we're gambling one man very good we accept another question here we
24:25ask people here do you have a telephone in your house and our audience here
24:30answered 92 of us have telephones they all say so we asked the panel in no
24:35I can't read my own name panel how many do you think answered yes to that
24:39question in England 92% here yeah 80 80 says Henry and Beth and 60 60 60 not
24:53really right 52 what English audience did you get I don't know in television
25:04audience of course the people who go to studio who sit in studio audiences at
25:08various programs are not entirely representative of a whole society for
25:12better or for worse you have another one here and this is to women only and the
25:20question was have you ever worn a bikini in public I think it has to be stressed
25:25and the 50 50 women this is our thought who helps us here 10 said they did and
25:3150 women in England were asked this for how many do you think out of 50 now what
25:37did they look like
25:40none of your business Oh five five of you were five in England say that you
25:49Bill and best Henry I got down to three I'll now try 24 I wonder what
26:05percentage of people get annoyed by that buzzer when it comes to having fun well
26:08then this was a fascinating idea and I do hope you'll join us again soon and
26:12then play this game again with us at the moment we'll be right back after this
