00:00Welcome to the highlights here on digital. It's day 2 of the second test match.
00:04Another very cold morning at the Feroza coatline.
00:07India found themselves in a very difficult position overnight.
00:10They were looking good at 230 for 4. They finished the day at 247 for 8.
00:15That was the situation when they got back here this morning.
00:18They must have been very disappointed at what they saw.
00:21That's what they had to sleep over. Azharuddin for 67 and Ganguly for 13.
00:26They were looking pretty good at that stage.
00:28They lost the wickets of Kumble and Srinath, both without scoring.
00:32A couple of balls yesterday had gone through very low after pitching.
00:36There was some suspicion about how this pitch would behave on day 2.
00:40For his report, let's go down and meet Ravi Shastri.
00:43We said yesterday that the pitch looked pretty good on the surface.
00:47The problem yesterday was that the pitch lacked pace and bounce.
00:50The reason for that was even though it looked hard on the surface,
00:53the subsoil wasn't all that hard and bound.
00:56If you look at the pitch today, there is a little bit of roughness.
01:00The cracks really haven't opened out, but there are plenty of the bowler's foot marks.
01:05We saw one delivery that pitched here from Mushtaq and turned to Azharuddin.
01:09That turned a long way. It not only turned, but it bounced as well.
01:13This patch here, if you see, even if I'm standing there and I'm a good 6 feet 3 inches tall
01:19and I stick out my front leg, I cannot get to the pitch of the ball if the ball pitches here.
01:24These are the problems that a batsman can face on a track like this.
01:28The bounce is uneven and variable.
01:31As far as the spinners are concerned, there's consistent turn.
01:34If you're a batsman, it's very important to spend time in the middle.
01:38Then you know what shots to play.
01:40From the bowler's point of view, if you bowl straight and bowl a consistent line and length,
01:44no matter who the batsman is, he'll have to earn his runs.
01:48Ravi Shastri believes it's hard work for the batsman.
01:51India's batsman, though, represented the tail end of their effort.
01:54So let's pick up the first ball of the game.
01:56It's Saqlain Mushtaq bowling the last of the unfinished over to Venkatesh Prasad.

16:08clever bowler and he's spot shied Afridi, that was right up in the block hole, Afridi
16:13playing across the line which he had not done up to now and Pakistan have lost their second

16:19Well this shot is a bit like the shot that Sachin Tendulkar played, half sweep half nothing,
16:27Sachin Tendulkar also played something similar, he got hit on the pads and that would have
16:32gone down the leg side, this one was banged on the centre stump, Shahid Afridi is a century
16:39maker in Chennai, he's out for 32 and Pakistan are 54 for 2.

25:32simple catch, Nawid Azudin had been waiting in that short extra cover position for quite some time, and the catch came, Steve Buckner took some time before he raised that right index finger, but he was already nodding before he did that, giving Salim Malik the opportunity to go, he didn't, and so he sent him on his way, it's a hundred and thirty for six
25:54Pakistan are in trouble here, Waseem Akram is coming in the fall of Salim Malik's wicket, straight on the pad, and Buckner reckons it is doing too much
26:09Perhaps maybe it had something to do with the height, was a very good delivery again from Venkatesh Prasad, he's so accurate Prasad, you can see that ball hitting him fairly high, certainly would have gone over the top
26:24One of the reasons his batting average is 21, is that he's tended to bat in the lower order now, he's batted 52 times at number 8, and 19 times at number 9, and one of the reasons for that is that Pakistan have always had a wicket keeper who could bat well, whether it was Moeen Khan or Rashid Latif
26:39As a result, unlike Imran Khan who started off as a fast bowler and started climbing up the batting order, Waseem Akram hasn't quite been able to do that, though he packs enough punch to be able to create problems, this is poor cricket, four overthrows, and distress, absolute distress on Anil Kumble's face
27:04And he wasn't the one who got hit with the ball, so two people in distress, this is the first man to be in a bit of distress, he's very close in there at that forward short leg, and then that caused the distress for Anil Kumble, oh why, what's happening here
27:28Those are not bad figures at all, 2 for 17, what a breakthrough, getting Saeed Anwar with a new ball and then came back and had Salim Malik with the old one

27:45I think that was pretty much always on the cards for Venkatesh Prasad, not really bowling that quickly, no real pace here and the ball fell well short of the man at slip
