PBBM extends greetings to indigenous Filipinos as PH celebrates Nat’l Indigenous People’s Day

00:24President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. extended his greetings to the indigenous Filipinos
00:28on the celebration of National Indigenous Peoples Day. According to the president,
00:33the country is blessed to have indigenous groups in different parts of the country. He emphasized
00:37it cannot be denied these groups have a strong connection to nature and play a significant role
00:42in protecting our natural resources. The president assured the government will take steps to promote
00:47the welfare of the indigenous people, enhance their integrity and address their needs. Meanwhile
00:53Vice President Sara Duterte emphasized the contributions of indigenous people especially
00:58in promoting Filipino identity. She stressed she is one in promoting programs to improve the lives
01:03of indigenous peoples. Republic Act No. 10689 states that the National Indigenous Peoples Day
01:09shall be observed on August 9 of each year and this declared a special working holiday.
